Tomato (like boiled) filled with anchovies paste

Nice ambience. We got the tasting menu for about 60 Euros. They were very accommodating of the food restrictions. Presentation was average. Food was good, but not great. Amuse Bouche: cassava chips with sauce. Parmesan cheese cookie Course 1: Cured sardine with caviar and ham Course 2: Pappadum with guacamole and tomato emulsion Course 3: Foie gras with banana ice cream and chocolate crumbles. Food with restriction was kind of boiled tomato filled with anchovies paste. (See picture) Course 4: Quail with sundried tomatoes. The other dish was a couple of smooth cod fritters Course 5: King prawn tempura with mayonnaise foam. This was alright. Too oily and not much flavor. Course 6: Tuna tatami with berry mix. Excellent texture. Course 7: Scallop on to of fancy mashed potato. Other dish was some fish that tasted like monkfish, cooked country style with slabs of garlic potatoes Dessert 1: Peanut butter mouse with chocolate crumbles and caramel roasted peanuts Dessert 2: Cheese parfait Coffee was great. Recommend Divinum over this restaurant if you have not been there.

We dined at Nu in March of this year and had a great experience. The food was delicious. The service was a little off but I'm not sure if that is because there was a little bit of a language barrier. Servers seemed like they were new. No pun intended. Our favorite dish was the steak tartar. My only criticism of it was that it was a bit too much on the plate (I know, weird to say that but it was overwhelming). We also really enjoyed the scallops dish we had and the octopus. Overall, this was a great dinner spot to close out our amazing experience in Girona.

We stumbled across this Michelin recommended spot while wandering around Girona looking for a dinner spot. It was about 15 minutes before they closed the kitchen so they were able to seat us without a reservation. We were unfortunately too late for the tasting menu but sampled as many of the menu items as we could. The cuttlefish rice was a personal favorite, along with the unusual take on ceviche that included blackberry gelato. The value is unbeatable - can't recommend it enough!

A beautiful modern-style and trendy place, where waiters are so carrying and cook is so delightful. If there is one place you should go (not talking about the 3* Can della Roca or of other 1* in Girona which appears as the heart of the Spanish cooking!), it is here. You may see one of the chiefs finalizing the plates in front of you, you'll enjoy perfect recieps and have a great time. Everything is perfect. We enjoyed a Cod loin on a bed of escalivada (roast onions, auberginies and peppers) with Romesco emulsion, a Wagyu beef hamburger with vegetables and a poached egg and 2 Glasses of jijona nougat, almonds milk and chocolate ice cream. The presentation and the tastes are terrific and you have enough in the plate. You'll spend great time. One advice is to call to make a reservation, which absolutely necessary for evening. The menu is in all languages (but we haven't seen any other tourists). There's a degustation menu (45€) which semt delicious. Otherwise the prices are more than reasonable (17€ for a plate, 8-11€ for a starter, 6€ for a dessert). Try it, you won't regret it. NB: be careful with the GPS and google mpas which is surprisingly incapable to locate it properly.

Haute cuisine in Girona? Absolutely! Okay okay, it's no Can Roca (but what is?). Nu is pretty danged outstanding all the same. Great menu, fresh food, very modern approach to technique. Steak tartare is highly recommended, but order a second app with it. Or else three entrees for two people. Great wines from a short list, but still superbly priced. Sì, very very good food here. Go, but make a reservation. Event early in the night it goes quickly. They don't rotate tables so as long as you're locked in, the table is yours.

What a culinary experience! Occi is quite a small restaurant (advanced booking a must) with a…read moresleek modern style that somehow seamlessly incorporates the giant stone walls and pillars of the old Girona building in which it is situated. This unique combo is a bit confusing at first but seems to make perfect sense by the end of the meal (no, there was no wine involved here). The menu consists of dishes that reflect the "modern yet classic" look and feel of the place. Offerings are imaginative and pretty much universally appealing. The thing I liked most about the menu was that it was not simply "twists on a local classic" but instead the chefs used all of the classic local ingredients (and some lesser-seen local produce like rabbit, pigeon and a whole host of local wild mushroom varieties) to create dishes and a style of cuisine that was truly their own. Luckily, we were 5 people so we were able to choose five different starters to share. In order to enjoy each dish and not jumble up all the flavours, our waiter suggested bringing each dish in turn to make a sort of tasting menu. It was a good call as every dish was packed full of its own unique flavour and character that was made somehow all the more enjoyable by tasting it in isolation from the others. Favourites included the taggliatelle with local egg, shrimp and mixed mushrooms, the "arroz de pals" (their delicious take on a risotto) and the rabbit terrine. A word to the wise: the starter portions are LARGE so if you're not hungry or are looking for a lighter meal, you could order less than one per person or even get a few different starters to share between you as a whole meal. Main courses consisted of fish and meat dishes that were just as creative and tasty as the starters. Meat and fish alike were cooked to perfection with accompaniments that complemented and enhanced their wonderful natural flavours. Desserts were light, well presented and as unique and imaginative as previous courses. In conclusion, I would say that Occi offers some incredibly imaginative, tasty and well-executed food made from some of the finest local ingredients and backed up by extremely friendly and helpful service. Dinner was extremely good value for the amount and quality of the food received, coming in at around €40/head for three courses (more with wine, as only one of us had a glass). A definite must-try for anyone, but especially those looking for something a bit different in Girona and the surrounding area. Oh, and if anyone in your party speaks Castellano or Catalan, definitely get a menu in one of those languages as some ingredients and descriptions are lost in translation on the English language menus.

There were plenty of open tables at that time, but they started to get filled up about 9:45 p.m. Yes, we were in the restaurant for about 2 hours-we didn't end up leaving until a little closer to 10pm. That's how slow the service was, but, maybe that's typical for this area and they seemed short staffed, only two staff for the whole restaurant. The interior looked clean. They had some decently nice overhead driftwood lights with Edison lights hanging from a rope. There was also a chandelier with tons of Rocco bar like water glasses hanging all over it that looked a bit tacky. The female staff member, who I'm not sure if she was a owner was hesitant to let us sit down but in the end let us. She wasn't friendly and basically ignored us. At least the second staff member who was working was nicer. We had to ask them to come over so we could start ordering basic drinks and food. Started off with a homemade ham and cheese croquettes and patatas bravas. The exterior of the croquettes was crispy, but the inside was super mushy, like pureed baby food. On a positive note, the flavor was good. The patatas bravas was unremarkable. The red sauce with squirts of mayo was underwhelming. It had a hint of smokiness, otherwise, it was just bland. We tried one entree, the Galician beef tenderloin with Padron peppers, and crispy potato wedges. It was impressive when it came out, sizzling hot on a stone platter. The impressiveness stops there-the beef flavor did not match. It was underwhelming. My partner enjoyed it more than I did. It also was seared on the outside of the still rare on the inside. So if you like yours more well done, you'll have to see if they can accommodate that. The Padron peppers were good, not spicy. Anyway, I wouldn't get this dish again. They also automatically brought bread with a pureed pear juices but we sent it back uneaten. Nonetheless, they still charged us on the bill for it. After we told the waiter, he took it off the bill. There were no wine glasses available, only bottles. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the wine bottles were so inexpensive, it was like paying for a glass in the U.S. or other big cities. The food prices were reasonable as well. Free WiFi. In summary, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant, unless you're looking for mediocre food and inexpensive wine. Also, pay attention to your bill!

Outdoor seating has three tables for two and two tables for four. They seem short-staffed as there were only two staff for the whole restaurant. Not sure if this is typical for the restaurants in the area. It took a long time to get our water and wine - we received them after receiving our appetizer but only after we reminded the staff. We first tried the Baratta salad and oxtail croquettes. Both were very good. The Baratta salad was advertised as coming with walnut pesto, but it looked like they were actually peanuts. It also had dried raisins- the flavor is not like the typical U.S. kinds. The raisins don't have the distinct grape flavor and are more of a mild sweetness. For our main dishes we got the Girona beef steak and the crunchy Kentucky style pork. The Kentucky style pork was better than the Girona beef steak but I still enjoyed the steak. The pork was deep fried perfectly crispy that it was indeed crunchy. It was topped with melted mozzarella cheese and oregano seasoned sliced tomatoes. It came with a mashed potatoes with a ham tasting broth. You get to choose the weight of the steak with a minimum of 200 grams, which was more than enough for me. The steak came with three small sides, including mashed potatoes with a ham tasting broth, what tasted like herb infused mayonnaise, and some kind of hummus. I didn't care for any of the sides. We also enjoyed their Monsant traditional red wine 2020. This was a great restaurant to try for dinner, especially since it was just around the corner from our hotel.

The staff was wonderful, providing impeccable and attentive service that goes above and beyond the standard of hospitality. I thought the restaurant design was beautiful, and while the space is narrow and deep, the décor is light and contemporary, which makes for a great atmosphere. We share similar tastes, so my friend and I each ate the same dishes. We started with a taste of cauliflower cream, with pea shoots and crushed nuts. The cream was smooth and the nuts added a crunchy texture. The local asparagus with sheep's cheese cream and herbs was fresh and earthy, the vegetable tender and not tough, while the cream was salty and seasoned with the right mix of herbs. We also tried eggs and potato riojana style, and the flavors really gave a sense of the famous region of Spain. During the main course, we enjoyed fresh fish from the local market, with fresh green peas, chanterelle and saffron, which added a beautiful dose of color. We also loved the dish of local sheep, pumpkin, egg and cheese, as the texture provided an outstanding mouthfeel and is the epitome of local comfort food. For dessert, the server recommended the specialty chickpea fritters with cream, which use the traditional Catalonian chickpea flour. They were sweet and dense, a perfect way to end the delicious meal.

Totally renovated and full of charm, the building opened its doors to the public a couple of years ago. From the top of the mound where it stands, unveils a beautiful view on the valley, residential neighborhood and Emporda area. When lavender is in blossom here in the garden the smell is just incredible. You can sit inside, but outside patio is so cozy, private and lovely, that you'll definitely will feel comfortable and snug. It's so nice and quiet there, that you forget of the noise and the clutter of the beach cities nearby. Conceptual Mediterranean Cuisine with a personal touch focused on the use of freshest local products. Fish of Palamos and meat from Girona area delivered daily. You can sip wine with local olives enjoying the magic moment of purple time after the sunset. The amuse bouche was the potato mousse with a hint of foie gras, yummy. Whether you start with Jamon Iberico, cheese plate or salad with marinated salmon - it's all good. My personal choice was "Tartar de pato" (duck tartar) which is quite unusual, cause we're used to beef tartar, salmon or tuna. But this one is melting in your mouth and the combination with jamon is a nice touch. Too much of mustard for me, but that was placed separately on the plate, so if you're not a fan of this zest like me, it doesn't influence on the taste of the dish if you don't want it to. Cod fritters are delicate. Lobster stuffed ravioli with saffron sauce were very savory. Cabritio (which is goatling confit) with rosemary honey and potatoes was refined and just perfect. As for dessert - try "Valerie" which is fresh cheesecake with strawberry jam or apple toffee with vanilla ice cream. I have to say here that the carte is so perfectly composed, that you can't help wanting to try most of the dishes and it means that you have to come back for more like they say. There is a couple variations of the menu. Both are ready sets, the Degustation Menu is 55 Euros and Mas Falet Menu is 43 Euros only. All in all, the prices are more than reasonable, considering the quality and exquisite taste. They offer a Kids Menu which is not typical for the place of such approach towards Michelin star restaurant, but it's interesting too and quite diverse. Why not?! It's at the hotel and convenient for some customers. The wine list is not too extensive, there are only four wines out of Spain and that's their conception, some may find that inconvenient, but the impressive fine section consists of wines from the region of Emporda, where, relatively speaking, is located the restaurant. The wine industry in this region has made a big leap forward lately. And following the advice of a very charming sommelier, we chose the wine from the property visible from the restaurant: Clos d'Agon, and were not a bit disappointed. Next time Sommelier promised to get us out of his cellar the stashed bottle of old vintage, so this is one more reason to come back. The service is exceptional; all waiters are charming and helpful. Even if you don't speak Spanish you won't feel uncomfortable or lost. Overall - just adorable experience and a place to come back. Free parking.

The story begins not with a dish, but with a timeline you can eat, charting the ascent of three siblings from humble familial duty to culinary transcendence. You do not "dine" here. You witness a narrative of obsession, transformation, and fate--the kind that only arises when blood ties are mixed with butter, fire, and an unbearable drive for excellence. The youngest of the three, a pastry chef, emerges like a trickster figure from folklore, sweetening the end of the journey with a sense of mischief and melancholy. His takeover of the narrative is not declared; it is felt, as a shift in temperature, in tone, in destiny. The food--what can I say? Each course is like a quiet revelation, as if the universe momentarily aligned to allow perfection, then moved on, uncaring. There is no comfort here, only beauty that leaves you slightly devastated. The architecture of the space is austere but luminous, a kind of sacred geometry. The ceramics and silverware are ritualistic tools, not mere vessels. They suggest a world in which aesthetics are a moral responsibility--as if to serve food without beauty would be a sin against nature itself. To eat here is to be reminded that all creation is fleeting, that excellence is a burden, and that even in triumph, there is solitude.

Save your money and a trip to Girona if you're going from Barcelona and go to Cocina Hermanos Torres, a restaurant that truly lives up to the 3 Michelin star reputation. Here is the detailed account of our experience at El Celler: I dined at this restaurant with a party of 6 on the 20th of May. One of the people in my party had the misfortune of finding shards of what appeared to be ceramic from one of the plates as she was eating. She found them while eating the food and had to spit them out and place the pieces on the side. She notified the waiter that picked up the plates about the pieces of ceramic, and unfortunately, only received a "sorry for that" as a reply, with no other gesture of apology provided by anyone else the rest of the night. Given their reputation as a 3 Michelin starred restaurant, not only is the presence of the ceramic pieces in the food appalling, but the nonchalant attitude towards the incident afterward was extremely disappointing. While we certainly did not expect the restaurant to compensate her meal, a small token or gesture in the form of a small discount, free beverage, replacement plate, anything, would have been greatly appreciated. This is far from what we expect from a Michelin establishment given our experience at a variety of other restaurants of similar caliber we have dined at, and cannot overstate how alarming it is that a choking hazard can make it past quality control and nothing is done to repair the situation even after politely bringing it to the staff's attention. The most impressive part of the night was the cheap taxi we took back to Barcelona. Okay, fine, the dessert part of the meal was fun and delicious, so maybe that was the most impressive, but followed closely by the taxi. Below are other details where El Celler completely missed: - Bread taken away from one of our party members without asking if they were done - No folding or replacement of napkins when someone left their seat - Being rushed at the end of dinner for seemingly no reason as there were other patrons eating that we could see and working through dessert courses we had already finished - Not asked to check in a coat, and instead given a random chair next to our table to throw our stuff on it - Uncomfortably warm temperature - Not everyone having their chair pulled out and pushed in - Seeing other people just standing around and not escorting our party to the bathroom or being helpful in other ways - Gave 3 of 6 members of our party stomach aches and loose bowels after dinner Admittedly, some of the above can sound nitpicky, however, this meal stands in a stark contrast to a meal we had the very next day at another 3 Michelin star restaurant, Cocina Hermanos Torres. Better in every way, they outclassed El Celler and provided food and service above and beyond what I've come to expect. Every single issue I had with El Celler was not present at Hermanos Torres, and did the opposite of what El Celler did to make our experience comfortable and exceptional. I am not sure El Celler is worthy of a single Michelin star, and definitely not three. And if it seems like I'm repeating the same point, this is still less repetitive than the number of times they told us one of their dishes contained a sauce made with the head of a langostino. You might also be wondering if I tried providing feedback to El Celler on this. I did, and not because they requested it via an email follow up like I have seen other restaurants do, rather, through the contact email on their website that same night. No response from them yet, which doesn't surprise me considering the apathy demonstrated throughout the ordeal.
