Three stars is a stretch, I was debating giving it two. Not sure how the reviews are so good on google, with 4.3 stars and over 1,400 reviews at the moment. The reviews on here are much more accurate. I was unimpressed with the food here, plain and simple. In terms of Mexican food, it felt inauthentic, bland, and lacking any appeal. The chorizo burrito wasn't great, the sauce that comes with the burritos is good so I relied on that. The chicken tinga burrito is just not truly chicken tinga at all. The restaurant itself was uncomfortable, I didn't like the seating at all. And the staff wasn't the best in any way. Randomly came here with my friend on a Sunday night after seeing a movie. It is a small setting and they do have outdoor seating but although it was crowded we got seated immediately inside. The waiter did bring waters right away and asked us if we were ready to order. For food: We started with guac and chips. Then for the main, I had the shrimp chipotle tacos with a virgin passion fruit margarita & my friend had the chicken tinga tacos and a coconut margarita. Overall I would say the food was decent and drinks were good. Was it the best I ever had No but I wouldn't mind coming back especially since the service was amazing and music was good(they played hip hop). They are very attentive and always checking to make sure everything was ok or if you needed anything. And just to add we came maybe 30-40 mins before they were closing and still service was great! No wait, servers were nice and checked in on us frequently. -Pescado/battered Baja style fish tacos were my favorite. We were greeted and seated right away and offered a choice between indoors and outdoors. Unfortunately it took 15 minutes before someone acknowledged our table, and only AFTER they so warmly greeted the table next to us, that had jusy arrived. The whole evening, we came second to this table next to us, with our food coming out 15 minutes after theirs- again we arrived before them. Just left a sour taste in my mouth seeing the difference in how warmly the waitress treated them vs kinda cold towards us. Anyway, I ordered the chicken flautas which were delicious - though the salsa on top a bit spicy My bf ordered the chicken tinga platter and loved it except for the soupy beans! Inside has music blaring so unless you're okay with not being able to hear your eating partner or the waiter, then I recommend outside. Talk to the host, have a seat - the usual deal. Service is incredibly slow. They don't seem to bothered to take your order at all. But not being pushy can be good, so that's not a huge issue either. The chips and salsa are paid. $6. If you want additional salsas, add on another $4 per flavor. The chips are ... nearly stale. It's clear they've been fried a long time ago - and they're not even rewarmed when they bring them out. The salsa that the chips come with is pretty bland - nothing to write home about. I ordered the avocado salsa with 3 whole chili peppers next to it on the menu - and it was ... a bland creamy green sauce. Barely any spice - definitely not the level of spice one would expect from a proper Mexican establishment. Again - pretty mediocre. Now we're $10 in for a small basket of stale, cold chips and flavorless sauce. Cue the main dish - an al pastor burrito. If you haven't had real al pastor - it's basically pork shoulder slow roasted on a huge metal rotating stick. It's sliced very thin and oh so tender and flavorful. I mean ... that's what al pastor is /supposed to be/. Not sure what this was ... the meat pieces were hard and too chewy. And again, the whole burrito is sort of a lukewarm temperature. My friend and I came here for a late dinner after seeing a movie at the nearby AMC Lincoln Square theater. It is a super cute place with a pretty varied menu, however they did not have horchata, my favorite Mexican drink. I was having a hard time deciding what I wanted, but what else is new? I finally went with one of the platters: Grilled steak with caramelized onion, served with Mexican-style rice (I got an extra order of this because I didn't want the black beans), arugula salad, guacamole, and tortillas. The meal came on an adorable orange tray. There was a generous portion of grilled steak in small pieces. The steak was incredibly juicy, succulent, well seasoned, and bursting with flavor. The rice was a nice orange color with peas and carrots in it. It was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The salad was light, crunchy with a slightly acidic touch. I even tried the guacamole and was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it. There were chopped tomato, onion, cilantro, and jalapeño in it, which made it a bit spicy. It was a decent amount of food and I took home half of it. The service was solid and our waiter was very helpful with the menu, patient, and nice. I would be open to returning and would love to try the battered fish tacos, chipotle shrimp quesadilla, carnitas tostada, and chicken flautas. read more

Very Good Mexican food on the UWS. Super cute place, 208 Columbus - 69th and Columbus. They have nice outdoor seating with heaters. The inside is bright and colorful and reminds me of a Mexican fair. We put our name in at the hostess stand and were told it would 15-20 minutes for a table, so we went inside to the bar because the margaritas looked great. Found two seats at the bar and there was only one bartender, this Friday night, and he was super busy. So busy, that he never had a moment to acknowledged us. We sat there just about 15 minutes, before the hostess came to take us to our table. Once seated the the service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. Tinga Tacos come three to an order. Chipotle seasoned shredded chicken topped with fresh homemade pico de gallo in a soft corn tortilla. These were so good! Enchipotlados - was the real winner of the evening. A large dinner platter with chipotle garlic shrimp. Cooked to perfection, the tender shrimp cooked in a tomato and chipotle seasoned sauce. The dish comes with mexican rice, black beans, arugula, pico and guacamole and fresh made tortillas. Good, authentic, flavorful Mexican food.
