Started with chips and salsa. My wife would have loved the salsa, it tasted like tomato paste. For me not so much. The burrito was not bad, could have had more meat. Had side of Mexican rice and again bland. This is the best mexican I have had this far north. read more

Always a good Thursday when it ends at El Mags. Can get considerably busy on Thursdays because margaritas are half off. The food is good if you know what to get. Authentic it is not. Caters to the population of the town. But it's good and decently priced. read more

The food was good. I got shrimp fajitas. I don't think my husband was too impressed. We went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The only complaint I had was the service. The man serving us acted like he didn't want to or something. I had to ask another waiter for extra tortillas and it wasn't even our waiter! This used to be our favorite Mexican restaurant. In the recent months the food quality has gone down while the prices have gone up. A chimichunga should always come with guacamole but it is no longer served with the chimis here. The new location is to open and very noisy. read more

A couple of friends and I went to the restaurant. We were respectfully enjoying ourselves. Two of friends had finished their meal and gracefully burped and immediately said excuse me. A worker came over and SCOLDED us about respect. When we went up to pay he was slamming the register closed and didn't say a word to us. Very terrible experience. Do not recommend. read more

Good value for OK food. The staff is always nice and the place is kept clean. The menu is versatile and there is something for everyone. I've been here a few times. I personally prefer El Rodeo, but El Maguey is my second choice. Family friendly and budget friendly. Great drink specials. read more

Food was good but the new location is terrible. First of all the restaurant is way too bright and they covered the lights with cloth material to try to darken it up. Then there is no semi private dining anymore, the entire restaurant is open and all the tables are crammed together and you can hear everyone's conversations almost like eating in the cafeteria at a high school. Went there on 04/14/2017 for dinner with a friend. The Mexican waiter saw that we were Asians and showed us a really bad attitude. He took our orders and left, and didn't bother coming back ever again (the food was served by another waiter). He never came back even once throughout the meal to check if we needed anything. Half way through the meal our classes were both empty, and nobody at the restaurant bothered checking to see if we would like to have more water added. So I "drank" a lot of air through the straw just for fun :) Having a guitar player at the restaurant will not make it more classy when your waiter doesn't care about your customers. I really regret that I still tipped him when we checked out. Should have given him NOTHING. Would never go there ever again. read more

Every so often a new Mexican Restaurant pops up in Rolla, only a few seem to last. El Maguey has been here a long time because the service and food are excellent. We love the chips and salsa and if you like extra hot salsa--hold on to your hat as it can blow it off--ask for the green hot sauce. It's not in a bottle, it comes in a small bowl and tastes home made. It's around $1.50 and worth it for those who like it super hot. The same can be said for the Diablo Burrito. There's a reason it's called "Diablo," and should not be ordered unless your insides are made of asbestos. We haven't found any dish we didn't love and have ordered too many to name them all. Recently I ordered a burrito hat had three sections, each one contained a different meat (sorry, can't remember the name), but it was ginormous and outstanding. We have always been very satisfied with the Margaritas and the prices, which we find reasonable whether food or drink. And we have definitely never gone home hungry, in fact, we always leave with carry out boxes. read more
