Service was mid, no one was in the front of the building to take my order, after 5-10min someone came and took my order, didn't take forever to get my order but order was expensive for 4 MINI tacos, I ended up throwing it up, wouldn't recommend if you want Mexican food. Ideally, the music should strike a balance between traditional genres and uplifting vibes, maintaining a respectful volume that provides a pleasant background for conversation while patrons await their meals. I took the opportunity to share my concerns with a female staff member at the bar, mentioning that the music was excessively loud and hindered our ability to converse. Although she smiled, she chose to disregard my feedback and continued to sing along to the loud music. Nothing here looks or tastes like the photos. On Mother's Day nobody cares to take our order although there were maybe 3 tables. We called before we came. They were not nice or helpful and no special ambience. Ruined the day and the nostalgia as this was my first Mother's Day gift from my young son 4 years ago when I first moved here. No repeat experience, no longer our place. It's hard to get serviced and even harder to leave since paying your bill has additional charges and processes based on whether you use a card or not. We went on a week night for dinner so it was fairly busy. We were seated immediately and served chips and hot salsa (as in the temperature . . . ) It was interesting because I've always had salsa that was cold but this was pretty good! My family and I were so hungry we just about finished the two bowls they gave us when . . . Our server brought another two bowls with MORE delicious salsa! Seriously, dinner is off to a great start and we didn't even dig in, dig in yet haha. We ordered fajitas to share that included beef, shrimp, and chicken. It was wonderfully flavored and cooked to perfection. The shrimp was butterflied and made peeling easier as well as atheistically pleasing. I loved how the protein was seasoned because sometimes at other restaurants, it's as if they skipped that part because of all the other flavors and ingredients included would make up for it: between the onions, cheese, guacamole, refried beans, etc. means that they didn't need to. I think that's the most important part and they did it here! Yum! The service was wonderful! We always had someone checking on us and whatever refills we needed were taken care of in a timely manner. I had lunch on Saturday here with some colleagues and there's a lot to like about this place as a neighborhood Tex-Mex option. First, the service is friendly and efficient. The food comes out quickly and it's prepared as requested. Second, I really like the individual bowls of salsa. But the best thing about this place is the breadth of the menu. There's everything from all of the Tex-Mex classics to grilled options to some more authentic Mexican food. If you're in the Huffman area, this is a great option for a meal. read more

It's El Jimador but needs to be called El Dontcomethroughthedoor. The waiter kid that looks like a Hispanic Jonah Hill is nice but the fajeeta meat tasted rancid. My gf swears by this place and she's got good taste because she gots me but could do better when picking Mexican food in Huffman. read more

Our favorite local Huffman eatery. Staff is always attentive. Food is great. Drinks are made well. Not much more you could ask of a place so close to Huffman. We regularly visit El Jimador and have yet to be disappointed by any of our visits. We have small children who can sometimes be a handful so the patio is a beautiful option to have. read more

In my opinion this place has the best street tacos it's the only thing I ever get besides the fajitas.

The food is usually good at El Jimador but we've had a couple of occasions we're the fajitas we ordered to go were rancid. The manager corrected the problem and replaced the fajitas but we went through the inconvenience of having to leave our house when everyone was ready to eat. Don't try placing an order to go because they don't answer the phone. To see if something was wrong with their phone I called from their lobby and stood there as the phone rang over twenty times and employees just walked by ignoring the call. Too bad as it's not a bad place but the service leaves a lot to be desired. We continue to return to el Jimador as their food is good. The service has gotten better. A big plus is the management, very professional and always willing to make things right. Our to go orders have definitely been a lot better than they were the first time I posted. June 2, 2018 My sister's and BIL's favorite local restaurant! We visited this place when it first opened under the name of "Don Lencho," and they've made it their go-to spot for Mexican fare and jumbo margaritas! I was curious to see how big these jumbo margaritas are- we've all seen those gigantic margarita glasses that can serve three or four people, right?- but I asked the server what the size difference between the regular and the jumbo, and he said that the jumbo had more shots of alcohol in it, so it's more potent. We were a party of nine, and for the most part, we enjoyed ourselves! Most of us ordered jumbo margaritas; I ordered a mango-flavored one, which was very good! The next time I order it, though, I'll ask for top shelf tequila (jumbo "Gold" is $11 and jumbo "super margarita" is $13), because the " flavored jumbo" that costs $9 gave me a massive headache, which turned into a slight migraine for the rest of the evening, and I woke up with a slight headache the next day. Perhaps the mango syrup itself contained corn syrup? That would account for the headaches and slight hungover feeling the next morning. Food was delicious! I'd ordered a ribeye steak dinner, minus the rice, and asked for the guac salad on the side, but by the time kitchen staff received my order ticket, they'd run out of the ribeye, so I chose the sirloin. I noticed that the receipt showed a charge for the ribeye (slightly higher than that of the sirloin), but sister decided not to contest it. Our father wanted sirloin steak, but his wife had given special instructions on how she wanted the steak marinated and sliced, and how she wanted his veggies placed atop of her entree, instead, but there was miscommunication, so his steak, sliced and topped with what looked like sautéed pico de Gallo to me, was returned for a makeover. He received a whole sirloin, with the sautéed veggies on top. If only she'd asked for the veggies "on the side" to begin with! Same great food and margaritas as Don Lencho used to serve, although DL staff went out of their way to serve me fried flour tortilla chips so that I may enjoy them with the salsa while everyone else enjoys complimentary corn tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole. El Jimador staff did not offer to do this for me this time. Service is quick and friendly, but if you need to give specific instructions, it would behoove you to relay those instructions directly to a kitchen manager to avoid potential misunderstandings. Seems like the restaurant is a lot louder than it used to be, but it could be from more regulars coming in (since the last time I went- two or three years ago- DL had just been open for a few months) and a few more added TVs. We like the El Jimador near us in Atascocita but we thought we take a drive to the one in Huffman. And I am glad we did. The staff was attentive and service was fast. But the best part is that the food was the best Mexican sit down restaurant in NE Houston that I've been in. If was really great. We also love La Villa's for the convenience and cheapness, but their tacos have gone downhill a little. The ground beef just doesn't seem to have the flavor as it used to. And now I think I know why...El Jimador poached their chef! (Not literally, I don't think but maybe??) their taco meat was amazing. Just right. The flameado with chorizo was also excellent. The only one I ever had better was in El Paso and that is a bit of a drive for melted cheese. Anyways, this place just got added to the bumper rotation! read more
