We have lived in the area for three years and this was a random stop. We were starving. It was like 830 at night and we didn't want fast food. If I haven't passed this place 100 times I've never passed it at all. We went in. It was the end of the night there was only maybe four or five other customers. The food was absolutely sensational. The Borracho beans that come with the fajitas.... I have never in 16 years that I've lived in Houston had beans that tasted that good. They were smoky and absolutely just delicious. Our server actually made our tortillas will help we were sitting there so they were fresh. The service was like it is I would say in most restaurants when you're coming in towards the end of the night and everybody's trying to do their side work and bust their tables and roll silverware and get everything ready for the next day. They had Tejano music playing, it was really cool. The only reason they didn't get five stars from me, it took over five minutes for someone to come to our table and even ask what we wanted to drink and to bring us chips and salsa. The chips that they brought to the table must have been the last that was in their bin because there wasn't even any full chips. It was just all little tiny fragments and pieces. The salsa was ridiculous. Good. But when our server came out, we asked her if we could get better chips, cause it was just little pieces. She went and came back with a fresh thing of chips. They were all whole, which was awesome. My second thing just my opinion. When we ordered the queso and added the beef to the queso when I got to the table, of course the meat was like in the center and we had to mix it with spoons. The meat tasted like unseasoned hamburger meat. The only thing that gave it a flavor was the queso which, normally when we order queso with meat, whether it is taco meat or fajita meat, it has some sort of flavor to it. But this just tasted like somebody took a scoop of unseasoned hamburger meat and popped it in the center of the queso. Other than that, we will be visiting again. Next time we're gonna try their margaritas because they have apparently legendary margaritas so good that they sell them by the gallon to go. Probably gonna adventure a little more on the menu as well. We were just very tired and very hungry and wanted to get home. read more

My wife and I get takeout there every week. My wife gets the same thing every week (Tacos Al Carbon) but I have ordered something different every time. I have not found a meal there that I don't like and would order anything I have had again. The service is fast and the employees and owner are friendly. read more

Great service and great food! Nice welcoming and homely feel. I appreciated them boxing our food for us too. We tried the shrimp sopa, which was a huge serving and quite meaty - no skimping on the shrimp. We also had the chicken enchiladas bianca and ribeye tacos which were also well seasoned. I'm giving this place 5 stars because it doesn't deserve to go down in rating. I had the tacos al pastor, asked for grilled onions throughout and their taquisa salsa which put a delicious fire in my mouth. The pastor complimented the pineapple very well and the meat was juicy and full of flavor. The chips and salsa are actually delicious. Guac was fresh as fresh can get. The charros beans also did not disappoint. I'll be coming back for sure. The waiter was nice and polite. Prices are fair. Nice atmosphere for lunch with coworkers and friends. They have decent daily lunch specials under ten bucks. The complementary salsa and chips are good.. always a good sign! Ordered the Cali Burrito, it was okay but the chicken I added to it was very dry and there wasn't much avocado in it for being such a large burrito. The cheese puff is essentially a small taco bowl with queso in it and I'm glad I ordered it to elevate my dry burrito. The salsa was a bit different, I didn't really care for it but it did have some spice to it. They did end up giving me pepsi instead of the diet coke I ordered. Sorry but the food was terrible...like fast food on a plate. Nothing was seasoned. The meat in my ground beef taco had no flavor. The queso (cheese) was lumpy and rubbery looking. I came here for lunch with coworkers, and while they have eaten here place on a regular basis, this was my first time. The complimentary chips and salsa were alright. It was nothing special, but it was nice to munch on in between wait times. One thing I do like is that they give a small bowl of salsa for each individual person. Say no to double-dipping. I got the fajitas on the lunch special menu, and while it did crowd the table and fill my stomach, I was underwhelmed with the taste. It appears my coworkers felt the same way; they made a comment about how this place is a bit inconsistent and implied that today was an off day. AYO Iv ordered the Cali burrito though Uber eats BEST BURRITO EVER! I woulnt eat a burrito any where els but here it does cost a bit more then you would usually pay for a burrito but it's 100% worth the price compared to getting a skinny little burrito from some where els for a couple dollars less and I also got free chips and dip that dip was BOMB im never disappointed read more

When you live in Texas for any period of time, you start to develop an affinity for GOOD Tex-Mex. Sadly La Cabana does not really count as good Tex-Mex IMO, and there are better options in the Spring/Humble area. Almost every time I've come to this location, I've had some form of Tummy Trouble™ either later in the evening, or the next day. That having been said, the last time I went to La Cabana prior to this last trip down to Houston for Christmas 2015 was 2012 before I moved away, and I can say there is a marked improvement in the quality of the food. The fishbowl margaritas are still as weak as ever though. If you want better food, stronger margaritas, and a more intimate, less chain restaurant feel, go up Aldine-Westfield to La Presa instead. read more

Great place to bring 4-6 people and get in and out quickly during lunch. The menu selection is pretty standard with most other Tex Mex restaurants. The service is good, and so is the food. Been coming here for years and the food is always consistently good. The salsa is one of the better ones. I like that they don't just throw everything in a blender, so there are still chunks of onion and cilantro in there. The green is delicious as well. Fajitias are well seasoned and the margaritas are strong. All for a very good price! For me the the only criticism I can come up with is their tortillas have too much lard in them (you can see this when you pick them up), but this is still a solid Tex-Mex place. I know this may sound weird, but they literally have the best refried beans I have ever had. I don't know what they put in them, but they're so good!!!!
