    3 Steak Tacos
    Lulu K.

This place is inside the Newport mall; and WOW. For starters, even with the high volume the counter lady is sweet as pie, and quick. The menu is huge, and I'd heard good things from other people about other things (specifically the Pernil). I'd gotten the steak tacos, and they were LOADED. A ton of good quality steak, pico, and even guac Will 100% be going back, I encourage anyone popping into the mall to eat there; they also appear to deliver via UberEats.

I was in town for business and needed some good Spanish food. This place got high praise from others, so I had to try it. I was staying nearby and decided to walk. I didn't know there was a mall in this area and definitely didn't know there was a good restaurant in the mall. I walked around, looking for this location. I finally found a mall worker and asked where this was. He said, on the 3rd floor, in the food court. What? I was not really in the mood for food court food. The guy took me to the restaurant and introduced me to the owner, Ralph. Ralph took really good care of me. He served up some rice and gandules and pollo quisado. I also got a side of yuca in garlic. The serving was huge. Enough for two people easy. The food was phenomenal. The taste was spot on. Just like momma used to make. Ralph is the cook, and he does a great job. The service was excellent. This is no ordinary food court eatery. They could have a brick and mortar location easily. Good food. Good service. Shopping before or after a meal. Can't ask for much more. I recommend.

Pernil Combo Plate (with grilled vegetables & arroz con gandules)

So happy with this new addition to Newport! It's not a chain to my knowledge and they have PERNIL. I got the combo plate with the pernil & 2 sides (I picked the arroz con gandules & the grilled vegetables). The portion size is pretty solid & definitely filling. I was absolutely full & almost couldn't finish my meal. Price is pretty standard too honestly, considering the quality. I think it's pretty solid Latin American food & really nice to have amidst the Newport are. Definitely give them a chance if you're at the mall!

Great fish tacos, on par or maybe even better than the famous tacquerias downtown. Polite and helpful owner at the counter.

Our Server, Ramon, did an exceptional job. The staff did a great job at clearing finished items and everyone's timing was spot on. We started with the Tostones Rellenos con picadillo (Green plantains stuffed with ground beef). This was a great starter. Large enough to share and I enjoyed the drizzled sweet sauce and whole olives. Our entrees were: Palomilla Steak Platter (thin cut sirloin steak) and the Ropa Vieja (shredded flank steak). Both dishes were accompanied by white rice and we chose black beans and a side salad. This was the first time that I've seen Palomilla Steak presented totally cut into strips and it was a welcomed sight. The Ropa Vieja was perfectly seasoned and the amount of meat was thoroughly enjoyed. I capped off the meal with a Cortadito (A cortado is a Spanish coffee beverage consisting of equal parts espresso and warm, lightly steamed milk. The name comes from the Spanish verb cortar (to cut), meaning the milk "cuts" the acidity and intensity of the espresso. I appreciated the cookie on the side and each sip was amazing. Wagner was great a wonderful personality and he made sure everything was to our liking checking on us periodically. I have been here before (the first time we did assorted appetizers) so but this time I dove into the dinner menu. The oxtail pasta was absolutely lovely, the meat was tender and delicately seasoned. I had the steak (I prefer my steak more on the well side) and the chef managed to keep it positively tender and juicy. Perched on top of a few slices of fried casava slices and a small side salad. You can never leave without trying the flan it's one of the best I have ever had. Service was quick and food was bought to us piping hot. The only down side is they oddly don't make pina coladas (it's the only thing I drink) and the restaurant was a bit too cold but other than that it was a lovely birthday dinner for my friend. Buena Vista is small and popular so I strongly suggest you make reservations if you plan on eating here.

Short on time, with just 40 minutes to dine, we thought we'd be wise to limit ourselves to starters and drinks. Greedily, though, we asked our server Carlos if he thought we had enough time for entrees. He said let's try! Trusting his wisdom and his consultation with the kitchen, we ordered the beet salad plus the langostino ravioli and the Chilean sea bass. To drink we had a strawberry martini and the guava and basil margarita. Every morsel was delectable. All of the dishes were colorful and interesting and robust with complex flavors and textures. The fish was cooked perfectly, light on the tongue. My daughter did ask for an adjustment to her drink upon first sip, and they accommodated graciously. We enjoyed our meals at an easy pace, got the check while finishing our drinks, paid via QR code, and made it to the show with 15 minutes to spare, satiated and satisfied. Regrettably, we didnt have time for dessert. So, good reason to go back SOON.

We tried the mixed ceviche (squid, fish, octopus), 1/2 fried chicken with plantains, and 1/2 rotisserie chicken with fried rice. I would highly recommend all three of these dishes. The ceviche was fresh, simple, and very refreshing; it's a small portion and meant to be shared as an appetizer. Both types of chickens were very flavorful and moist. I don't normally like plantains, but the plantains here were perfectly cooked, lightly fried, and sweet. I have been recommending this place to family and friends and can't wait to go back myself. Service: Service was excellent. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Our water was filled constantly without having to ask them. Multiple staff members came by throughout the meal to ask us if we needed anything. Ambiance: The restaurant is a good size with tables for both small and large groups. The pork chop was a bit too salty for me, but my friend really enjoyed how crispy it was. The roasted chicken was a standout for me, especially the sauce. My son loved the yellow rice so much he ignored the fries! Overall, there was something for everyone at the table. While the decor feels a bit more upscale from when I came here in college, the flavors brought me back.

It was so refreshing and flavorful that I found myself spooning up every last drop of the citrusy marinade. Unfortunately, the meat itself was pretty lean and ended up a bit dry. The maduros were a bigger letdown; when I had them before, they were ripe and sweet, but this time they came out dry as hell. I sent them back, and to their credit, they took them off the bill without any issue. My friend enjoyed his Cuban panini, and while the pork chicharrón had a few off pieces, it was decent overall. So overall, I'd say this place can be really good, but there's definitely a consistency issue. When they get it right, it's excellent; it just doesn't seem to be that way every time.
