The decor was nice and the place was clean. Seemed a little loud but possibly just an acoustics issue. On to the best part... the food. Everything we tried was delicious. Starting with the chips and salsa. So fresh and warm. Both red and green salsas were great. My wife and son split the El Jefe plate and she also tried a leopoldo tostada. All 5/5. Great prices, delicious food, friendly and attentive service. The staff comes around frequently to check on you. Their aguas frescas are great, and refreshing. As my husband and I pulled up into the parking lot, we quickly noticed that there were no other vehicles. It was close to 5 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon, so we were expecting it to be somewhat busy. As we pulled up, we noticed the broken side window which looked like it could be used as a drive through window. We pulled out back and parked. After we parked, my husband asked if the place was opened, but then he remembered seeing the open sign. We walked in and we were warmly greeted. I immediately smelled something that wasn't pleasant but noticeable (I am sensitive to smells). We asked about vegetarian options, but there wasn't really any options. The young man assured me they could make my husband's meal meat free. I asked about the refried beans, and I was told it does contain pork, so the young man offered double rice instead of the beans. He was very thoughtful and accommodating. I ordered their pizza birria. We ordered to go. The pizza birria was served in a pizza box. My husband liked his veggies taco but thought the enchiladas were a little salty, but he said it would have been better with less salt. I liked the birria pizza, I honestly didn't think it was anything to rave about. It was crunchy in certain areas. The cilantro and onions were good with it. The broth was okay. Would I go back, I don't think so. I did enjoy the service we received. I enjoyed the flexibility to adjust the meal to meet a vegetarian diet. Fresh squeezed limes, Clamato and Dos Equis was our beer of choice. Their chips and salsa are made fresh daily, the flavors are delicious! We started with the Leopoldo ceviche tostadas, they were very fresh and came with a lot of toppings! We also split the Happy Plate and it has a lot of great different kinds of meat cooked to perfection!! The servers were really friendly, attentive, and always made sure that we were doing well! It was extremely hot inside when we arrived, which made the experience uncomfortable from the start. The food we ordered took over 45 minutes to arrive (we had four plates), and it didn't taste good at all. They were also out of ice and soft drinks, which was surprising. A lot of people seem to love the tacos, so if you stick to that, you might have a better experience. We searched for a place to eat in yelp while staying at Great Wolf Lodge. This is the place we found and WOW! I've been living in Texas nearly 18 years and thought I knew Mexican food. Nope. This is not your usual Tex Mex place. The menu was a little intimidating because the food was different from what I knew, but everything was fantastic! (Google was my friend!) Drinks are HUGE as well as the plates! Tres leches dessert was as good as I've ever had. The staff were clearly out to ensure my family had a good time. They probably don't get a lot of Asians . Don't let the unassuming building deter you. Super clean inside, but small. The smell of the spices coming from the kitchen was great! That was the chicken but I ordered quesabirria. It was REALLY good. Tender, the consume had good flavor. The tea is in a huge mason jar. The sauces for the chips could have been more flavorful but the guy gave me habanero sauce to put in my salsa. This is very authentic Mexican food. Absolutely delicious, chicken juicy and flavorful. The best ceviche I have eaten anywhere and I have had a lot of ceviche. My friend and I really were looking forward to trying this place out. However, we weren't happy with how it turned out. Our service wasn't very good (not his fault, he seemed new and we had a language barrier, but the guy overseeing him didn't help him enough). The red salsa was watery and didn't have any flavor, but the green salsa was the one stand out for us and was delicious. My friend ordered a shrimp dish from the menu, and it did not come out as pictured. No onions or peppers or even a sauce. Instead, it was just seasoned and very coconut forward. My enchiladas were fine, but were helped by me pouring the green salsa on them. The real issue was the beans having a sour taste, and the rice tasting old. Overall would not recommend. I don't normally leave reviews, but this just was a bad experience all around. We ended up not finishing our food and going down the road to eat something else. read more

This place has some bomb pollo asado. The only person that makes it better is my Tia in Mexico. The chips are crisp and crunchy and the salsa is nice and spicy. All the bad reviews are either from white people who don't know good Mexican food or people that are being Karen's.
