They play great music, which makes the atmosphere even more enjoyable and gives the restaurant such a good vibe. From the food to the service and atmosphere, everything was great. I'll definitely be coming back! Highly recommend Xicote!

I don't know the name of it, but I do remember him saying over and over that he could eat this every single day! I love that they offer some tofu options since I'm a vegetarian. And they give very generous portions, very likely you'd end up going home with a doggy bag. The only thing I was disappointed in, was that I really had wanted to get the fajitas. I of course would get the tofu fajitas which came with rice and tortillas. When I asked what else was served with the tortillas, I was told it was just a mixture of green pepper and onion. There were no sides of cheese, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, etc. I've never ordered fajitas that didn't come with all the little fixings. Yes I could've ordered a lot of those items separately, but the fajitas were already $26, I believe the most expensive item on the lunch menu. I didn't want to end up with $40 fajitas by paying 3 to 5 dollars for each item. I loved my Aztec green bowl that I got instead, but I must admit I was super disappointed about the fajitas.

I was here on a short business trip and stopped by for a meal because I was craving Mexican food. Looking at the menu, I was amazed at the different options and variety of drinks they offered. Had to try the Ube horchata, birria, burritos, and the tacos. Everything came out pretty quickly and the meats were tender, good quality, and filling. I would say the ube horchata was refreshing, but after a while, it felt too sweet for me. I'm not complaining about getting such a big cup of it, but I definitely think 2 people can share 1 drink and be really satisfied. I also got some carne asada fries (not pictured), and those were also bomb. Overall, I genuinely enjoyed the friendly staff, food, and was pleasantly surprised at my experience. Will definitely come back!

I ordered a Peruvian beer to try it out. Food was delicious and it hit that spot when just trying to get some small bites. The food and the vibe here was great as well. For our experience, it couldn't get much better.

Unfortunately, I had to write this. On Wednesday, we had a…read morevery disappointing experience. I had visited Barranco the previous year for a business dinner, and everything went well. This time, however, it was a completely different. What kind of restaurant has this become? There was no one at the reception when we arrived. A person who was cleaning the tables was the one who seated us. A little later, a young woman came over looking quite unkempt and dressed in sport clothing. She casually handed us menus that were stained and dirty. It seemed as though the restaurant has no standards for uniforms or customer service protocols. This is an expensive restaurant, so having menus and service like that is unacceptable--it's not a fast-food restaurant. She had no knowledge of the menu. We asked about both the food and drink selections, and she couldn't make a single recommendation or explain any of the dishes. It was honestly embarrassing. The restaurant was almost empty, with only one or two occupied tables. Then another server came over, who also appeared to work there, but somehow the experience became even worse. She didn't seem to understand us, spoke extremely slowly, appeared very nervous, wasn't listening, and honestly seemed either unwell or simply uninterested in working. It was unbelievable. The only person who was truly helpful was the men cleaning the tables. He brought us more water, and we even ended up ordering part of our meal through him because the server never came back to our table. The food itself was good, and the drinks were poor. I expected much better drinks since we saw two people working behind the bar. Overall, I feel the restaurant has lost its standards, and it clearly shows in both the service and the overall presentation. Our server never returned to check on us, and we eventually had to get up ourselves to ask for the check. By then, we'd completely lost any interest in ordering dessert. The food was good, although the portions seemed small considering the prices. What frustrated us most was that our food arrived before our drinks. I don't believe that was the chef's or kitchen's fault. it was clearly a service issue, especially considering the restaurant was nowhere near busy. We've honestly received better service at fast-food restaurants. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a luxurious atmosphere, but the service is simply depressing. They need to improve or completely overhaul their service if they want customers to come back.

There was a salsa bar, which turned out to be the best part. This place could never be a 5/5 right now for me based on the fact that I went on the restaurant website and was charged an extra $1 for lettuce and another $1 for cheese. Made no sense to pay for elements of a burrito that make a burrito what it is. Regardless of the economy lettuce and cheese should never be something you pay for in addition to the burrito. Let's not normalize paying extra for basic stuff. After I left, I went home and I ate the Super Burrito and Street Taco, both Carne Asada. Was it decent? Yes. Was it amazing? No. This is basic Mexican food at its core. The red sauce (not the super spicy crushed pink sauce or pico de Gallo) tasted fire. Whoever is in the back making that is doing a good job. Could be a tad smokier, but that person is doing some heavy lifting. The taco was decent, something I can make. The burrito was actually pretty good, but one side was cheese, guac lettuce and on the complete other end it was asada and beans. I never could take a bite with all the ingredients in one chew. Overall, could be better, but the free tortilla chips were a nice touch. Idk it was a pretty basic experience overall. Paid around $30something bucks for a Super Burrito, Taco, and Agua Fresca that could probably feed two and provide a little drinky drink. 3.45/5

Great food: frescas, entrees and desserts…read more I ordered lengua , pork belly and shrimp cheese tacos. I loved the crunchiness of the pork belly and the flavor. The lengua taco had meat that was tender and delicious. Both tacos were lightly seasoned and not hot. The shrimp cheese taco was my least favorite. The shrimps were small and had no flavor. There was a lot of cheese, but again there was no real flavor that made you want to order it again. I believe if they used large grilled shrimp and no cheese , but grilled onions, this taco would be a hit. The tacos came a side of guacamole, different peppers and sliced radishes. The frescas were made in-house: hibiscus, watermelon and cantaloupe. I ordered the cantaloupe fresca and it was refreshing with just amount of sweetness . My husband ordered the birria tacos and he definitely would ordered them again. He ordered the hibiscus fresca and said it was very good. He wants to go back and try more of their food. We ordered churros which were made in house. They tasted like the churros we had in Barcelona. We want to order this again. Everyone who came with us enjoyed what they ordered. Overall, Tacos El Patron was a wonderful experience because of the quality of their food. We hope to return very soon.

The drinks were well-balanced with just the right amount of heat. For our entrees, we ordered the burrito, carne plate, enchiladas, and the bee salad. The standout was definitely the carne--it was incredibly tender and practically melted in your mouth. It was cooked perfectly. The burrito was absolutely massive and packed with flavor, while the enchiladas tasted homemade and were comforting and delicious. Everyone at the table left happy. Everything was tasty. The waitress was great with her reccomendationa. She never gave me her name, but thank you. Lastly, I am unable to give them a 5 star because we waited about an hr for our food to come. Yes, it gave us plenty of time to talk... but that was ridiculous. What made it worse is that our original waitress did not tell us anything. She came to see if we needed another drink, but she didn't bother to tell us our food was coming late and the reason. I didn't appreciate that at all. It wasn't until Nikita came in for her shift that she informed us that our food was late because the machine that printed ordershad an issue. This was at 1:29 pm.. we ordered around 12:40 pm or so. I explained to her that I was going to submit a review because I'm both a Google reviewer and a Yelp Elite and this was horrible to hear due to the lack of communication from both the manager and our waitress. Sadly.. the deserved 5 starts up until that point. Andrew (Manager) finally brought our food out with an apology at some point. I will most likely go back because the food and drinks are worth it.
