[[HIGHLIGHT]]The furnishings as well as the menu were upgraded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was Cinco de Mayo and even though we were there late afternoon, there was a continuous flow of folks coming in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We tried dishes that were new to us. We started with Cauldo de Cameron soup. We were warned that the portion size was large and it was. We were expecting a spicy seafood broth with vegetables but the broth was lacking. The shrimp was large and cooked well. Most of this went uneaten. Next up was the Cancun Fajita. This was a large portion of chicken, shrimp and krab sticks with mushrooms, peppers and onions all grilled. It came with the beans, rice and fajita fixings. Served sizzling, the protein was cooked perfectly and the sides were left untouched. Lastly, the El J's Alambre was ordered. This was shrimp, steak, bacon, and chicken over some grilled onions and a few vegetables in a cheese sauce. came here for the first time this week and it was alright. it was very busy so i was hopeful that was a sign that the food would be stellar but it was good but not out of this world. service was very fast and they have a lot of tables, it's a huge dining space. i ordered the chicken fajitas and i've definitely had better, and even make them better at home. there was no peppers, it was all onion. (like one small piece of green and red pepper and the rest was straight up onions so that was kind of disappointing.) the flavor of the chicken was good. i ate everything but i would say just average food hence the three stars. not the best, not the worst. read more

We've been visiting Navarre for several years and typically dined at a familiar Mexican restaurant near the bridge by Winn Dixie... which we've always enjoyed. However, this time we decided to try something new--and after reading the positive reviews for El Jalisco, we were eager to give it a shot. We arrived with a large family group and were pleasantly surprised to be seated within five minutes. The service was prompt and attentive throughout the evening. We started with three orders of cheese dip and two generous servings of freshly made guacamole--both were excellent. Everyone also enjoyed their drinks, which were well-crafted and refreshing. I ordered the Fajitas Cancun, and I was thoroughly impressed. Unlike the usual fajita dishes overloaded with green bell peppers and dry meat, this one was vibrant and flavorful--featuring a colorful mix of red, orange, yellow, and green bell peppers, along with sliced squash and mushrooms. The chicken, shrimp, and crab were all perfectly cooked and full of flavor--nothing was dry or overdone. My only minor suggestion would be to offer black beans as an option alongside refried beans. The first time we came was a pleasant experience and the food was really good. He rushed us the entire time, acted annoyed any time we asked for something, and the food wasn't good. I had the enchilada plate, the tortillas were hard, the chicken was dry, and it came with barely any rice and beans which is weird. My husband's meal barely came with any rice and beans as well. I was in the middle of eating my dinner when the server came and asked if he could remove my plate, to which I had to explain I was still eating... he scoffed and then he came by a few minutes later with our bill even though we didn't ask for it. My friend actually then asked for another drink so he brought her that drink and a new printed out bill. We were under the impression this a sit down service type of restaurant but it seems he was trying to get us out so he could get the next table. Big piece of advice -- don't rush your patrons that are sitting at the table trying to enjoy a Friday night dinner just because you want the table freed up. read more

The decor is very modern and the vibe gives upscale Mexican food, especially compared to others in the area! It's a Great spot for parties. When I say huge booths, I mean like 10 ppl per booth maybe! The salsa has good flavor and has a spicy kick! Kind of unexpected and I'm glad it was there bcs I kept coming back for more! I enjoy their "create your own combo." It's great 3 for $15! The guacamole tostada is very generous and filling. The shredded chicken quesadilla is okay and the chile con carne is delicious! It's pretty salty, but delicious if you pair with your guacamole tostada. The El Jalisco Fajitas were kinda disappointing to me. I might be basic but I LOVE that sizzles appearance. The beef pieces were small and I felt like I needed a lot more flavor?! Like some type of special salsa or cilantro or something? Felt like something was missing every bite. I don't think I would get these here again. The Fish tacos were also not a hit for me. It's like chopped up pieces of mahi mahi and it needs some type of crunch. Very mid. Usually when I come here it's fast and easy but it's just this female server they seem to have is just uninterested in the job. Me and my party was sat for 20+ minutes. No water . No greeting nothing . The people that came in behind us had their regular drink and there Acholic drinks before we got even approached . We can't skip trying new restaurants! The place is defiantly new, everything's squeaky clean. We started with the top shelf margarita. It was too sweet for me. It needed a shot of grand marnier on top. The chips and salsa were good. The salsa had great flavor. The carne asada was pretty disappointing. It was like they put some fajita mix with the precut steak on a skillet and called it carna asada. The rice was very mushy. You get a 1/2 of an avocado, where usually you'd get guacamole. My husband had the garlic shrimp and wasn't too impressed. Food lacked effort. Our server was nice, but new, it was very obvious. There was quite a few people in front of us, so we had a bit of a wait, but it was well worth it!! Upon being seated our server was quick to bring us chips and salsa that were fresh, the salsa had a bit of a kick, just how I like it! Our waitress took our drink orders and quickly brought them to us. I tried the pineapple Jalapeno margarita and my hubby got a top shelf. We love our margaritas and these were good...not great, but good. I think they would have been better with a splash of Gran Marnier. We both decided to order the same thing. We got the fajitas that was a mix of chicken, shrimp, steak, and wait for it....bacon!! They were AWESOME!! We also got a side of cheese dip and it was pretty good too. While I love Mexican food most establishments tend to be a little cluttered and cramped with an emphasis on cheap and quantitative food. El Jalisco maintains the affordability factor while dramatically increasing the quality of decor and food service! Has the feel of an upscale location but the traditional food of a Mexican restaurant. One of the best Mexican dine-in experiences we have ever had. The drinks are incredible with a large selection, the chips and salsa are fresh and delicious (limit of 2 free servings and then 5$ for each additional basket), and the food was perfectly cooked and every bite was an explosion of flavor! Finally found the best Mexican restaurant in Navarre, FL! The food was amazing, filled with so much flavor! They got Tacos Al Pastor right!! Perfectly marinated with the right ingredients, including pineapple, deliciously flavored. The steak street tacos were amazing as well, seasoned to perfection! There was this sauce on the side and it made the tacos even more flavorful. I can't say enough good things about the service. Jesus & Eliseo were incredibly accommodating for minor changes and went the extra mile to ensure I was happy. Eliseo, the bartender made me a spicy margarita filled with pineapple, orange & lime.
