What an underrated gem! I had been wanting to check this place out for some time, and I am so glad I did. I will admit, when I first walked in, I was a bit confused. I looked at the board to see what they offered and wasn't sure where to begin. The wonderful woman by the door handed me a paper menu and asked if I had been there before. Once she learned I was new, she walked me through the menu. I went with the Build Your Own burrito bowl; though you can build your own tacos, burritos, quesadillas or nachos. You start by picking your favorite protein, I went with Barbacoa. Then you add as many fresh free toppings as you would like. I can say that I ate about half and took the rest home. My husband went with a mix & match taco basket, with a side of chorizo refried beans. The chorizo refried beans are so good, kind of jealous, though my black beans were also good. Next time, I may get the chorizo refried beans on my burrito bowl because, yes, they are part of the fresh free toppings. I also tried their Cucumber margarita, as I was a day too early for the Watermelon margarita. The bartender suggested adding jalapenos to the cucumber margarita next time. That was so tasty! You order from the counter and they bring the food to your table. While it seems like counter service, everyone was so attentive it was like have multiple servers taking care of everything. I read the reviews before visiting. This place is really cute. Has a fun vibe and staff is very attentive and friendly and helpful with menu. It was myself and 3 teenagers. We ordered our food and got a table just before they started getting really busy. Our food was served really quick prob 5 minutes. The servings were massive. I got the yo mama. Boy got a quesadilla and other 2 had burritos as well. Serving is easily shareable if u chose to do that. The other thing in reviews noted it was expensive. I don't know where these folks eat for less lol but 3 huge burritos with sides, the biggest quesadilla I've ever seen with sides. 3 drinks and a watermelon margarita was 75.00. I found it very reasonable. In fact chicken finger dinners at a local fast food is $60 so well worth a few dollars more. read more

We just moved to this area and decided to try this place out. Was greeted by Dwayne as soon as we walked in the door. The food was great I feel like it was a little bit expensive for tacos but I also haven't been here long enough to know. Loved the ambiance and that they had mac n cheese since one of my daughters is super picky about and she loved it. We were starving as we arrived at Taco Mama's Gulf Breeze restaurant. A fruitful morning fishing on the Gulf of Mexico only added to our empty stomachs. The solution: the big client burrito basket. Included: Braised beef, refried beans, queso, shredded cheddar, tomatoes, mild salsa ranchera and a perfect, doughy wrap. Extra nice: you chose a side so two of us shared guacamole and queso with plenty of chips. Both were standouts on their own. Two others with us picked well-stocked burrito bowls. Good service and a great setting in the strip center anchored by Publix. Indoor and outdoor options. Cost: $15.50 to $16.50 per person but well worth it. Pricing was a little confusing. First timers and it would be nice if the cashier would ask if we needed help. We (2) ordered (BYO) build your own tacos and assumed 2 tacos to an order with the fixins of your choice. Wrong! 1 taco was $7.75 and all I had was lettuce and tomato in it. A huge helping of chips comes with it so I asked for queso on the side. Cashier asked if we wanted a cup or bowl. We opted for a bowl. It was delivered with another big basket of chips which we didn't need- we both had chips?! With a beer and a soft drink total bill was $50. and of course we added a nice tip. Very disappointed with the price. I did not see the receipt until we got home and my husband gave it to me saying it was pretty expensive for tacos with no beans or rice. read more

I finally had the chance to try Taco Mama for lunch. Walking in. I was immediately greeted by a super friendly hostess making sure I understood the menu. Stepping up to the counter the extremely friendly fly staff took care of me and took my order. I went with Cheesy Beef taco basket and added a side of queso. The Barbados tacos didn't disappoint, but the real star was the Queso and amazing chips and salsa. Although I felt the prices were a little higher than average, the awesome staff and fun atmosphere guarantees I'll be back. My husband has celiac disease and must eat gluten free. This is not a "lifestyle" choice. When I asked about the gluten free menu last week, the manager couldn't find it, and stated "most tacos are gluten free" but couldn't say for sure. This shows a complete lack of understanding about food. Spices and flour tortillas contain gluten. BEWARE EATING HERE SINCE THEY HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT ALLERGANS, and I wouldn't trust the. We have never, ever left a margarita on the table! These margaritas were so lime-y that they were undrinkable. The food is good and there is a lot of it. The staff is always really nice! However the ordering process has to change. It's so inefficient to have a line out the door and one person placing the orders. This was not our first visit to a Taco Momma, but our first time at this location. The food was great but expensive, especially since we had no alcohol or drinks. The two things that bothered me were that I had asked for my hot sauce on the side for my bowl, but the person taking our order was not paying attention and did not mention it on the ticket. If we had lived closer, I would have taken the food back, but being over an hour round trip, it was impossible. As far as it comes to ambience, it's a neat lil place for sure. As for as the food...it's fancier chipotle but somehow the quality is not as good.
