We came here while visiting family over the week of thanksgiving. We all decided on Mexican food and the family suggested that this is the best place around. We were leaving one of the local wineries and the staff asked where we were headed for dinner. As soon as we said Mexican they also confirmed El Jalisco is the best place to go. We walked in as a group of 6 and were seated right away. The service was fast and our drinks always remained full. The food hit the spot and portions are large. The prices are very reasonable and we were all satisfied when we left.

Lunch plate #9 -- flautas with rice and beans

I stopped here for lunch based on a local's recommendation and I don't regret it! Like every Mexican restaurant, they have chips and salsa on the table; the salsa here was incredible and the chips were hot! I always look for flautas on menus to judge how Mexican the place is (versus how American-ized it is). I was quite pleased to see them and ordered the lunch plate. Their menu does a good job of "American-izing" in that the flautas were also labeled as taquitos. But the flavor and the crunch were what I loved to eat in Mexico. I also ordered the sopapillas for dessert and enjoyed them. You can order them as a stand-alone or add a scoop as ice cream. I naturally got the ice cream but the sopapillas are delicious on their own.

"Speedy Gonzalez" - takeout (minus the taco).

The food was terrible I'm pretty sure I got food poisoning. The salsa was tomato soup and the cheese dip was soapy

Good Mexican food at a reasonable price for the area. Small area to eat in that is always cold because of the door opening & closing.

I completely get how difficult being a server is, especially having an off day, but they are ALWAYS rude no matter how friendly I try to be with them. I made a to-go order last night, and picked up my order about 1 hour before they closed. By the time I got home I realized my order was wrong. I had paid $2 for extra cheese on my order and instead got no cheese. Not a huge deal but still disappointing especially since I paid for extra and got none at all. By the time I had noticed it was just 20 min before they would be closed, so I decided to just call in the morning and ask for my missing order of queso. But when I called this morning to ask if I could just swing by to grab the missing queso, I was told "no" the reason being that I should have called last night. I explained the only reason I didnt call last night was because they were quite literally about to close and I didnt want to keep them open just over some cheese, but she still refused to correct my order. I just find it a little mind boggling that they weren't willing to correct my order over such a tiny request. I wont be coming back which is very disappointing because the food is great. Don taco for life I guess.

She took care of the entire store and restaurant all by herself. The restaurant is very tiny, but the food is delish. The restaurant was empty when I arrived at 1pm. She put on the Mexican music when I arrive. Service is fast. The owner explained the menu and provided good recommendations. I tried 4 tacos of different meat: birria, lengua, steak and carnitas. All are served with onions and lime. I love birria and lengua the most, followed by carnitas. I picked an authentic Mexican soda from their fridge. I love all the drink options available.

The store has drinks such as Jarritos, and you can get big ass cans of beans so you can make tacos for later. Good place to get authentic Mexican food. It's located on West Jackson Street at Illinois Avenue in a building that looks unassuming from outside. There's taqueria is located in the back, and you order at the window.
