I don't know if they got new management over the years or what but the service was great, the food is spot on, and the environment is authentic to the culture. Had a quick dinner sitting at the bar. Service was quick and friendly. I had a pineapple agua fresca that was cold and tasty. Steak tacos were hot and well seasoned. Red salsa was insanely hot but salsa verde was perfect. Great prices. read more

I watched the entire table of 10 people get their food (that looked pretty appetizing) to then be told that the combination plate that I had requested, they "were out of." And that a substitute could be offered...if only that substitute was freshly made in any way at all I would have eaten it. But, what showed up was a cold plate with a single taco and two unidentifiable things that may have been enchiladas with cheese that was not melted in any way at all. And the rice and beans that were supposed to come with it...NOPE, that was forgotten. Oh, if you crave a club soda with lime that won't happen. Expect to get tap water with lime, even though they will say they opened up the 2 liter bottle two days prior. I'll end with, I was grossly disappointed and went home not eating anything but the handful of chips & starving, but on the plus side I didn't get a bill. read more

Should've known we were in the wrong spot by the fact we were the only group dinning here at 6:30 on a taco Tuesday. Coming from Texas it's a little tough to rate this place but not try and compare it to Texas as that would not be fair. A little Mexican in Alabama with an affordable lunch menu and good food. I ordered lunch takeout. The chicken enchiladas were very affordable but the taste was not as great as other places. Enchiladas didn't have enough red sauce and/or red sauce wasn't seasoned well enough. I expect some type of lettuce and tomato combo with my enchiladas, so I guess I should have asked for the lettuce and tomato. Chips and salsa were tasty. Was in the mood for Mexican food. Came here because of the good reviews on Yelp and google. Didn't want to leave a bad review but was very disappointed. Waitress wore her mask below her nose; not the proper way to wear one. Other staff member was walking around and not wearing a mask at all. Rice tasted burnt. Salsa had a weird taste to it. Let me first say amazing, fantastic, great salsa. It's like a mini party in your mouth. The flavors just explode. We came in a Wednesday not that busy but still very quick and good service. Our waitress was very attentive to our needs. Both me and my husband got the #6 it was a good value for the amount of food. We didn't eat it all. Oh well lunch tomorrow. To start, the reason for the three stars is because their health rating is rather poor. Went there today, and it was 85. Not real impressive. Other than that, I have eaten here handful of times. It is not my favorite Mexican restaurant in Montgomery, but the food is pretty good. Ate there for lunch today, the service was good, food came out rapidly, and overall I would say that it was worth what I paid for it. However, some of the items on the menu are rather expensive. i'm not sure I would pay that much for anything on a menu at any Mexican restaurant. read more

Stopped by on a Wednesday night as the rain from hurricane Michael came through. There were not a lot of people in the restaurant when we got there around 7:45. We were a little nervous about our choice. We were seated right away and the chips and salsa arrived. We both had our own salsa bowl. The salsa was chunky and very good with the warm basket of chips. My wife got a margarita and I got a tecate beer. The margarita was good and the beer came with a cold mug. Nice start. We both had burrito dinners. I had the beef and cheese and onion with beans and rice. My wife had the beef, chicken, and cheese and onion with guacamole salad. Both our dishes were served hot and were quite tasty. Our waitress was friendly and provided great service. We really enjoyed our meal experience. read more

This was our first visit; heard it advertised on a local radio talk show. We were pleased. The menu has a large selection. The salsa dip was a little on the spicy side but very good. We ordered the cheese dip and it was a larger portion than most restaurants serve. We both enjoyed our food and agreed it's one of the better Mexican restaurants in Montgomery. The service was good. It had been years since I've been here, everything was fine until I got halfway through my shrimp nachos and found a shrimp with a 2 inch stream feces coming from it. I immediately called a waitress over and she agreed that's what it was, took it and next thing I know a lady saying she was the manager came over, apologies and with the same breath say it's shrimp (with a shrug) and that it wasn't nothing she could do THEY DONT CLEAN THE MEAT ONCE ITS DELIVERED TO THEM.... of course that threw up red flags and really pissed me off. I tried to maintain my composure as she continues to say there's nothing she could do and walks off. The waitress comes back with the ticket and ONLY $1.99 was taken off, I had to demand that half of my order be taken off. I have been passing this restaurant for over 2 years and I am highly disappointed I didn't trust myself to come here. THEY ARE DELICIOUS!!! Had the Enchilada Trio and it was delicious. Until now, I have never had a problem with El Jalisco. Whenever my family wanted Mexican food, this place was our go-to. But the past 2 times we have been, service has been slow and lacking. This was my 3rd time eating here. Every other time has been great. Today, it took 15 minutes to get a menu, order drinks, and order food. Drinks took forever to come. Food came in reasonable time. Our server never came back to check on us. After we were done eating, we sat at the table, with dirty dishes, for almost 20 minutes waiting for our server to come by so we could get the check. After asking for the check, it took another 10 minutes to get it. On top of all of that, I realized, (now please don't laugh at me) I had just had a virgin drink and I clearly ordered a real drink. I told my husband that I couldn't taste alcohol and he said it was fine after tasing it. After all the waiting, I just paid and left. Needless to say, we won't be going back for a while. read more
