This was one of our best Mexican restaurant experiences ever! We are staying at a hotel nearby and stopped here because it was convenient and because it was well-rated. What a great choice! The owner, Gustavo, was our server and he was extremely helpful and warming. He made suggestions from the menu which turned out to be great. He also turned the TV toward us so that we could watch our Carolina Panthers play while we enjoyed our drinks, which were terrific, by the way. We both recommend this restaurant as one of the best! Moved to the area a few months ago and tried El Cerrito and was impressed. Service was good and attentive, which is rare around here. And the food was great. We stopped here for lunch midway through our 5-6 hour drive home. The food was delicious. We split the Pollo Loco. Without us asking, we were provided with an extra plate to help us split it. It was so yummy! The service was truly excellent. The ambiance is great. We sat near the indoor fish pond, and it was relaxing to hear the sound of the waterfall. We went to this Restaurant only because we're still trying to find that place & heard pros & cons so we decided to give it a try! The food tasted fresh, was bland on flavor, but was served hot. The chips & salsa were okay no real flavor in the sauce. The meals were generously portioned but honestly lacking the full authentic flavor were used to out west. Located in the small town of Millbrook AL, El Cerrito Mexican Grill delivers delicious food and great service in spades! Thank you to all the fellow Yelpers whose reviews helped me find such an awesome spot to for some semi-late night eats while driving from Franklin TN to Birmingham. They started us with complimentary chips and salsa.. score!! We opted for the sampler plate appetizer, which came with wings, quesadilla, bean & cheese nachos and salsa (for only $8!). For dinner I got the taco salad. It was the freshest taco salad I've ever had. The shell was warm yet oh so crispy, the guac was superb, and the cheese and sour cream were the perfect amount. On top of it all, the service was outstanding. The manager even gave us stellar beach and hotel recommendations after we mentioned our travel plans towards the Gulf Shores. This place is great. The servers are very friendly and pretty attentive. I got the monster burrito and it definitely lived up to its name. That thing was HUGE! The interior is on the older side but it looks unique and is kept clean. Definitely near the top if not the best Mexican place in the Prattville/Millbrook area. read more

So we are regulars....we love the margaritas, back porch and USUALLY good service. We had to ask for chips and salsa - not usual. We received our drinks, asked for chips plus queso, received rather quickly. Then NOTHING. I drank my medium margarita with no one checking on us or acknowledging our existence. WTF? The manager is not present/ or who usually comes say hi. We paid and left. It's my birthday- it was suppose to be a fun night. I really wanted to like this place, but the experience was disappointing. Despite there being only three tables with guests and a few people at the bar, the service was very slow. Our server was nice, but the overall attention to detail was lacking. The Mexican guacamole was okay but needed salt and the salsa was watery. The vegetarian fajitas had little pieces of noticeable CHICKEN, which was a major issue since we ordered VEGETARIAN fajitas. When we asked the server if it was cooked with chicken, he initially said no--only to later admit that it was probably cooked after the chicken quesadilla entree and "only two pieces of chicken." That's not okay, especially for anyone with dietary restrictions. The onions, broccoli, and zucchini were burnt in both entrees. Overall, the food quality just wasn't there. With better attention to preparation and service, my experience would have been much better. I will never go back. read more

Got The homemade guac ("Mexican guacamole") and Burrito Bandera (w/ chicken and w/o red sauce). It was amazing. Bacon should be in every burrito. The food was good but not great. I got the Special Dinner which has a beef chili relleno, beef tamale, beef enchilada, beef taco and a tostada with rice and beans. Nothing on the plate was bad. The salsa was ok. Nothing stood out. This was my first time here and this plate gave me a sample of a lot of things on the menu. The restaurant was clean. The service could have been better. I sat down loved the ambiance very fun and authentic Mexican. I was greeted and seated quickly it was a Sunday night, so not high demand, but got a clean table. I immediately got warm homemade chips with fresh homemade salsa. The attentive waiter came back and checked on me and then put my order in and I was blown away by how quick my food came. Stopping in town on motorcycle road trip. Craving Mexican so came here for dinner. Very glad we did. Food was excellent! We saw the picture in the menu of their handmade guacamole and had to order it. Came as pictured and quite tasty. We're already trying to figure out how to take leftover on road with us. When my family and I first got to the restaurant it took way too long to get seated, then when we finally got seated down we were ignored for about 30 minutes until we finally got asked what he wanted to drink. We got our orders in and it took way too long, we were sitting at our table for almost 45 MINUTES. We have been here quite a few times. It's a good place to get some Mexican food. Service has always been great. It's a good place for groups to come and eat. Birthday night or just a party. The menu was pretty big and had some different items and not just the regular tacos, burritos, etc. We had a hard time making up our minds, but decided to split the chicken fajita nachos. Two of us had the spicy burrito, we did ask the waitress how spicy it was and she said "so-so".... Wrong, it was HOT. We stopped for dinner here because we were driving on interstate 65 and it was close to the exit and the reviews are good. We both were very pleased with the Tacos Al Carbon. The chicken was good but the steak was even better. Our server was nice and even offered us a refill of our soda to take with us. If we are ever in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to stop here.
