In terms of customer service, our waiter went above and beyond in two different languages and made sure my entire table was well taken care of. Not enough positive feedback could properly articulate his service for our large group! Jose was equally as attentive while we were planning before we arrived to Montgomery and made it so seamless even a quick check in day of the confirm location. The food was killer! As a disabled person it started out difficult with no marked handicapped parking and a difficult entrance. It was very dark inside. The staff was great and service was wonderful. The choices were good and varied with some options you don't find everywhere but the chicken was very tough and dry. I found the prices out of line with other restaurants offering similar items. First time trying out the food and it was okay. The staff was friendly. The taco salad pretty okay. I didn't care for the shell, because it tasted wet instead of hard and crunchy. The Mexican corn was pretty good. The Especial burrito tasted okay. The dough on the burrito was too doughy especially on the ends and not enough filling inside. This place was a hit! I highly recommend if you are in Montgomery to check it out! The food was flavorful and the drinks were on point! We tried the Bonita Margarita who's is on the sweet side and it was as beautiful as the menu mentions! The service was great and our waitress answered all our questions! As a local college student, I would often drive past this restaurant on daily errands and study missions to the Starbucks nearby. Eventually, the gravitational pull of Mexican food got the better of me, and so I decided to stop by one night to satisfy my taco cravings. I decided on four tacos to go: two carne asada ($3.00 each), one lengua ($3.50), and one al pastor ($3.25). At first glance, the prices did seem a little hefty for smaller, street-style tacos, but I was hopeful that they would be worth it considering the positive community opinion of this place. Things were off to a good start with the carne asada; it was seasoned well and also very crispy. Unfortunately for me, that's where things fell off the boat. The lengua meat was served in some kind of weird, orange-tinged sauce (see attached photo), and also had a strange aftertaste. Even stranger, the al pastor I was given really wasn't even al pastor; it was some form of tangy, cloying shredded/pulled pork, not the classic spiced, pineapple-marinated meat that many of us know and love. It's a shame because I had high hopes for this place and things seemed so promising at the outset... That said, I'd still say that you'd be justified in coming in to try the carne asada, as that is probably the only thing I wouldn't mind returning for. But if it's pure authenticity and a variety of quality meats that you want, you may want to try your luck elsewhere. read more

Talk about a "hidden" gem or "IYKYK" type restaurants in Montgomery! 5 stars for the elotes alone! 5 stars for the plantains! 5 stars for the generous portions of sliced avocado! 4 stars for the jamaica! 3 stars for the black bean soup, it taste good but the consistency was off. So my wife found this place Googling for a Mexican restaurant before our first session at Family Life's Weekend to Remember marriage retreat. Service was excellent. Our server was fast and attentive. He didn't go AWOL as some servers midway through the meal. The queso and chips were good. The chips were hot and fresh, and the cheese was, well cheesy. My wife said her chicken and shrimp fajitas were good. She took the rest back to the hotel, so that was a positive sign. My ground beef taco wasn't so good. I think Taco Bell is better and definitely my home tacos were superior. My chile poblano was tasty, however. A deep fried, ground beef stuffed poblano pepper over melted cheese. Wow!! I mean, look at this meal! Seriously, does it get any better!? I absolutely loved the "Choose 3, 4, or 5 Items" option. Especially as a vegan, I cannot believe there were enough options that I could actually choose 5! Our family are frequent visitors here, and although we may be biased coming from a big city, we love it here. We love the food and service is always great! There is never a long wait time. I would say the salsa is usually very extremely mild, we always order the spicier salsas with our chips. And there are no diaper changing stations or family restrooms. The bathrooms are small and cramped, but always clean and stocked. I would recommend parents to definitely consider that when bringing their little ones. Atmosphere wise, music and decor are authentic to Latino culture, it does bring an ambiance of home, so it's greatly appreciated. Margaritas are amazing and decently priced as well. I came here for a girls night in high hopes of indulging in some authentic Mexican food, upon recommendation from a class mate. When we arrived we were promptly seated and greeted with chips and salsa. Our dining experience only got worse from here. When we put in our drink orders my friend and I both ordered guac for the table. The guac did not arrive until after our meals were delivered and we had to bug our waiter about it. I ordered the burrito and taco combo and what a disappointment it was. It looked like my burrito was covered in canned marinara sauce and the beef in my taco and burrito was overly salty. Let's just say Taco Bell was more authentic then La Zona Rosa. As for my friends, one ordered the el pollo loco and got food poisoning, the other ordered a chili poblano and an avocado, and the other a chimichanga. Maybe we all ordered the wrong things but the food wasn't great. Our waiter was pretty much non existent throughout our visit and my water glass went unfilled for extended periods of time. It seemed like an eternity between when we got our food, when our guac finally came, and when our checks were delivered. Food is average and service need improvement. Our waiter disappears after serving the food. We have 6 peoples so automatically charges 18% tip. Restaurant charge another 4% if paying with credit card and without notifying this extra charge!! I have VISA and most of the places accept VISA so why another 4% charge? I enjoy this place for a quick and flavorful lunch. They have a good combination lunch menu where you can choose 2 or 3 items from a list for a flat cost. Food is consistently good and I've never had any real issues with service. Last night was particularly busy. It took a little long to get our final bill, but our waiter had a helluva huge table he was trying to manage. I'd recommend this place any time. with only one disclaimer... Our waiter was awesome. That's the only good experience after spending $167 for a birthday party of five people. First off the margaritas were absolutely terrible and were way overpriced. A large margarita was $25 and nothing special about the presentation other than an oversize glass that is most of the time used for Coca-Cola. Two margaritas were ordered and both of them were horrible. The food... This is really bringing up the rear. The food was absolutely atrocious and tasted like sauce out of an old can. When the beans and rice were ordered, they tasted pretty much like canned beans and rice out of a pouch. The chicken, shredded, was stuffed inside of the burrito, and it was horrible as well. I cannot overstate. Do not expect anything when you go in there as far as taste goes. This is absolutely the worst recommendation I've ever had to make and today is March 26, 2024.
