We were dining here for a business meal with a customer and arrived around 4:45pm. The restaurant was already about half full. Service was typical Mexican restaurant where you sit down chips and salsa arrive at your table then they take your drink order and ask if you want any appetizers. Everything came out the kitchen and was fresh and served at the right temperature.. So why only 3 stars you might be asking. The food was just okay. The service was alright and the setting was nothing special. The whole experience was not bad by any means, it just wasn't great. There just wasn't anything about the food, service or ambience that put this place on my must eat there again list. read more

Food is so so. Worst was waiter who thought he was quite charming seeking the attention of women at our table. He was in fact, rude and constantly flirting with one of the women that made all of us uncomfortable. He even followed her to the bathroom, saying things to her. a creepy experience. Easy to find in downtown Eufaula. The decor is really nice. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I orders huevos rancheros but wanted the eggs fried hard. The ultimately said they would scramble them for me. It turned out great. The prices are very reasonable. read more

If you want to walk back in time, check out this Mexican restaurant. It's in such a sweet little town. We walked in and were sat right away. They only had one server it looked like, but the manager did step up to help Out. We were able to get our order submitted and it quickly came out and everybody loved what they ordered. The tacos hit, the fajitas were a deal lunch special with drink! The chips were Hot. The salsa flavorful. Party Of 5 and everyone enjoyed their Meals. Large drinks And even offered Togo sodas. We were 5 women camping locally and decided to come here. From the first moment our server ,Eduardo, was smitten by someone in our party and proceeded to sexually harass her the whole time. From calling her "mi amor' to "my girlfriend" , stopping her when she went to the restroom to ask if she was married or had a boyfriend and wanted her phone number, and on and on. We were all so angry and disgusted. I can't believe this establishment allows this behavior as I am sure it's not his first time doing this Our meal was totally ruined, not that the food was very impressive. Quick 2 day trip to Eufaula. We were excited to try this place. We love Mexican food. Overall it was okay. Guacamole was great, definitely my favorite part of the meal. Beans, rice, and quesadilla was fine. Nothing special, it was cooked and seasoned well. My boyfriend liked his shrimp fajitas. The margarita was bad (they use sour mix) with barely any tequila. The restaurant decor was fun but the table was dirty and we were sat next to a janitor cart and trash. read more

Traveling for business and ended my day in Eufaula, AL. There seems to be several good choices for dinner but majority are not open on Mondays. El Jalisco is open and it was a very good experience. I went with the Fire steak and it was really good. The fire roasted tomato and jalapeño sauce added a nice touch to the steak and rice. The corn tortillas were fresh and the sweet tea was good. CHEEEEEEEESE! My husband and I just moved to Eufaula last year and I while there are a lot of great dining options, I would eat here literally everyday. The food is fantastic, the cheese is magical (I can't help it, I love a good cheese), and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. Please don't ever close!!! We love you! I have lived in Eufaula for 5 years and El Jalisco just keeps getting better & better. The food is fresh, tasty, freshly made; Service is always exceptional, even when busy, and they do get busy. Prices are very reasonable. BUT, I can honestly say they have the BEST top shelf Margaritas I have ever had! I just returned from a three week cruise stopping in Mexico, Guatemala, Columbia, Costa Rica & Belize, and the first thing I wanted when I got home is a Margarita from El Jalisco!! Make sure you pay the extra for the Grand Marnier, it's truly worth it!! Downtown Eufaula is a beautiful place. The town reconstructed after the civil war, the statue of its most famous Largemouth Bass Leroy Brown and of course, a Mexican joint situated to please passers by and locals. Jalisco is a vast space, with something that resembles a museum gallery on the left side. The people working here are very kind and attentive. Food is solid Tex mex classics. Chicken fajitas are particularly excellent. The steak fajitas are a bit on the tougher side. Salsa is spectacular. El Jalisco fills up quickly for a good reason: it's full of hard working people, great food and is a wonderful representation of what Mexican American immigrants can bring to a smallest town. read more

This review is for the Abbeville Alabama location. We have been several times since they've been open and were trying to give them a little leeway while they were getting things together. I understand that restaurants have a seating order but when you have a customer ask for a table instead of a booth and they refuse to seat you at a table because "they are for parties of 6.". All the tables for 6 were empty so why not seat us at one of the empty tables (2 paying customers vs non paying empty seats). What is the old saying about a bird in hand beats birds in the bush? This was our third visit where table seating was a problem and the hostess wanted to argue with us. We are older and it is easier for us to get in and out of a booth. When we take my 89 year old mother with bad knees and mobility problem, we really need table with chairs close to the door. We eat out 5-10 times a week and Mexican is my favorite. We also tip well. All that being said, the food has come out cold and is nothing to write home about. The service is great if you get the right server if not good luck! When I asked the hostess if she were going to seat us at a table she looked to someone to my right I assume she was a manger and she said no! We left with NO intentions of ever returning! We are done with them, there are to many other places to eat where food is better and staff are nice and accommodating. read more

El Jalisco Mexican Grill was the 3rd restaurant that we attempted to have dinner at Eufaula on a Saturday evening at July.... The stuff was welcoming,we got seated right away. They were busy but the friendly waitress told as she'll be serving us in a minute and she did. The house margaritas were delicious,sje also brought tortillas and salsa,that was good too. Our order came fast and all at once. Food was delicious. I had the Shrimp and Fish Ceviche-it was fresh,tangy and so delicious!!!! I really appreciate the half order option on the menu,because I was the only one eating that. I also had a Shrimp cocktail,the shrimp was tender and fresh but the cocktail sauce was kindvof generic-but not like the horse redish one that I'm used too,more like a sweet and sour. My husband had the steak fajta,it was ok. Wasn't sizzling as usual when it is served on a cast iron skilet... The sides were good, especially the beans. Corn tortillas weren't are things.... We also had dessert,Mexican flan-it was made to perfect and just a nice finish for our spontaneous Mexican dinner. I gave 4 stars because the decor realy needs updated in my opinion. Started with the bean dip which was really good and enough for 4-6 people! Ordered the steak fajitas, medium, and a Dos XX Amber. Steak was cooked right and they were delicious! The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because there was this constant humming/buzzing noise like someone was getting their hair blow dryer in the back and the menu said the fajitas came with guacamole and mine didn't. When I asked the server she said they didn't come with it and made it seem like I'd have to pay for the guacamole. She didn't SAY this, it was just kinda implied. The manager explained it was a misprint on the menu and gave me the guacamole. Anytime we travel through Eufaula in the future we will definitely be eating here again! Whenever I go to Eufaula Alabama, this location and only one other restaurant in town is on my must eat list! The size of their standard or medium sized margarita, is the size any other restaurants jumbo, or equivalent to two or three margaritas somewhere else. This location is great right in downtown Eufaula. If you get a margarita here they are still using sour mix they don't do the actual lime juice and I find that disappointing. I don't think this is the best Mexican restaurant in Eufaula but they do have the best salsa I will give them that. Their cheese dip and guacamole are also pretty good and maybe this is a strange thing to say about a Mexican restaurant but their fries are not very good. I do like the burrito Del Diablo and I think their nachos are good because their chips are good but overall this is just your standard run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant nothing fancy. read more

This restaurant is nestled in a cute little downtown area and seemed like a great place to stop on our trip from 30A back to Atlanta. We were wrong. We waited for a full hour for our food to arrive and with two very young children this was an absolute nightmare. A table of 8 sat down after us, ate their entire meal, and left before we saw any trace of our food. When our food finally arrived the order was wrong and incomplete. We accepted the wrong food bc at this point we just needed to get back on the road. We had to wait longer for the rest of the food to come. The food was not good: limp tacos falling apart, a tamale that was more like a lump of corn mush on top of some sauce, and grisly meat. The manager offered us 10% off of our meal which is such a ridiculously small offering of apology. Not even "oh I'll take the order that was completely wrong off of your bill." Or "your queso is free." It wasn't even about the money. It was 100% about the NEARLY TWO HOURS it cost us on our trip. I don't know what another reviewer who went here the same day we did saw but our experience, food and service were nothing short of awesome. The restaurant is big, much larger than you would guess from the street, and had lots of locals at lunch on a weekday, which is a good sign to me! They had an extensive lunch menu with generous portion sizes. Chips and salsa standard, and I really liked the salsa--it tasted very fresh and had a nice little kick to it. We also had a small queso (it's white queso) and it was delicious! I had enchiladas and my husband had fajitas and both were great! I added the salsa on top of my enchiladas and they were event better. I would highly suggest if you're looking for delicious Mexican food on the road--you wont find better! read more

The expectations in a small town like Eufaula is always a little lower than that in a large city. However I can say honestly that this place well and truly met our expectations. My wife and I had lunch at this restaurant and had heard pretty good reviews from family and friends. And we were not disappointed. The food was fantastic and was prepared very quickly. Their chips and salsa were delicious and flavorsome. I had the steak fajitas and was well and truly full by then end. The prices are very reasonable also.
