The food was not the best but not the worst just average. The food like much Mexican food is either bland or too much salt. The service was friendly and good. The ambiance was fine but didn't stand out. For people who like Mexican give it a shot but don't look for great food, it's average. read more

Only class act I can find in Troy!! And we tried them all. Great cervesa, margaritas and food fit for any gringo!

The food is great and the staff is always nice! It's super colorful inside and they have a lot of different decorations. Definitely feels fun to eat there. read more

Great atmosphere, food and service! We eat here at least once a week - sometimes twice! Great menu with a lot of variety. The building is colorful and lively and the staff is friendly. read more

Stellar!!! The food was outstanding! We ordered carryout, but almost wished we'd dined in because the atmosphere was so fun and inviting! I had the birria tacos and they were some of the best ever!! Hubby had luscious streak tacos, the chips & salsa (comp with order) were authentic, and to top it all off, delicious churros for dessert!! Wish we lived closer, it would be a weekly event! read more

The food was really good, service was good, bartender was amazing (wish I got his name)! Fave Mexican food in Troy! Cheap Margaritas but ask for a double, AL has alcohol laws for lower liquor pours. The side of beans and the side of Mexican corn appetizer were so much food for how cheap they were!!! read more

Rodeo Mexican Restaurant - We loved the steak fajitas Lunch Special - Mexican Near Me - Troy, Alabama

Hotels were all sold out at Dothan due to the world-famous Peanut Festival. So we stayed at Troy instead. Rodeo was within walking distance from our hotel and I am glad we tried it out. You can't beat cold beer and decent Mexican food after a long day of driving. We were seated shortly and offered a basket of chip & salsa on the house. Refilled later without problems. I orderred Carnitas Rojas. The tender pork chunk covered with thick flavorful salsa sauce was delightful. According to the menu, the salsa sauce was a combination of 3 chili sauce. Just delightful. I ordered hubby the Steak Jalisco. He gave me a hate look after the first bite. So he ate half of my Carnitas. The steak wasn't bad though. But the pork was just too good. The bill was shockingly reasonable. Too bad it is too far from us. See you again Rodeo. We will be back. read more

Best Mexican I've had in Alabama. The menu is the same as all similar restaurants but the food is much better. This place does have popcorn shrimp on the kids menu which made my little niece who's decided she's pescatarian very happy. This is the place to go for an affordable delicious meal. It does get crowded so prepare for a wait at peak hours. read more

We have been coming to this Rodeo for many, many years. The food and service has always been consistently very good. Today we had lunch for the first time in a couple of months. The lunch specials had great prices (Nos. 1-10 lunch specials only $5.75). The chips and salsa were good, and the server and other personnel were very nice and attentive. However, the food was not very good. The meat on my taco and enchilada was very bland. My taco shell was also a little stale. The cashier agreed that the meat they serve was bland and had mentioned it to the owners. So apparently, it wasn't an anomaly. We will probably go back at least one more time, since we have been regulars for a very long time. However, if the issue with the food at Rodeo continues, there are several other Mexican restaurant choices in the area. read more

Nice friendly place! The place is lively with Latino music and the staff is super friendly. The food was good. And I have to say our waitress was the best. We were seated in a corner table, and when I asked her to take a family picture she went out of her way to try to capture a good angle by climbing into a chair! Very sweet of her. read more

On our way up to Montgomery from Florida, we found ourselves too hungry to wait another hour, and so we made a stop here in Troy for lunch. We accidentally parked at the back, as this place is located in a slightly off-road strip, but it was for sure worth the stop! I ordered the Enchiladas Souzas, which came with two grilled chicken enchiladas with cheese and green sauce, beans, rice, and a guacamole salad. It was a generously sized portion for the price, added to the thin crispy tortilla chips and salsa we were given as a starter. The rice of my entree was a bit salty, and the enchiladas weren't as warm as I would have liked, but overall the flavors blended nicely together, and the enchiladas in particular were crispy and quite delicious. After finishing I wasn't uncomfortably full, but I was definitely not left wanting. The menu is pretty extensive, and all of us ordered enchiladas of some sort so I can't speak for any other type of entree, but from what I could see, this place is stellar in serving authentic and delicious Mexican food! read more

Best Mexican food in Troy!!! I really like eating here and the environment is friendly. The place is also clean.

When I travel, I prefer to eat at local options rather than chains especially for dinner. I am rethinking that strategy for this area. Most of the local options were not open on the day I was there this trip. Parking was a bit of a challenge. I actually didn't see any spots initially and considered going elsewhere. When I first was greeted the only option for seating was at a table at the front door or the bar. There was ample seating available just not for someone dining alone. After waiting longer than desired for a better option on seating I was about to walk out the door when a booth opened up. (I wish that I had gone ahead and left). The menu had extensive options beyond the typical Americanized Mexican restaurant. I decided to stick with the fairly common combination of Beef Enchilada, Tamale, Rice & Beans. I also ordered a side of cheese dip to go along with the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. The salsa should have been my first clue I was in for a disappointing flavorless meal. I am not looking for a lot of spice to my salsa, but I would like for it to taste like it was tomatoes & onions, chopped up and mixed together with no peppers whatsoever. The most flavorful part of the whole meal was the rice. The most disappointing part was the Tamale. The masa was so dry and crumbling (also the unusual color of Nacho Cheese Doritos without any of the flavor), I mainly just pulled the pork out and ate it with the rice. Maybe the less typical dishes are much better, but I have concerns about if the basic dishes are not good the more complicated will probably not be either. When back in town for work, I will go elsewhere. read more

Food was great about four years ago. The last time that I was there the toilet would not flush and the bathroom was dirty. Food was not that great for the price. read more

Friendly service and great chips and salsa (the initial test of a Mexican restaurant). Located next to Troy's best hotels. A reminder of the maxim that no two Mexican restaurants are alike in their foods, but that's a good thing. They have a large number of great unique dishes. I hear they have wonderful margaritas, but none for me today. read more

Rodeo Mexican Restaurant - a dirty plate of food with a fork in it - Mexican Near Me - Troy, Alabama

It's was everything I expected. Decent menu. Lots to choose from. Our waiter was very kind and observant even though it was really busy.

Based on the reviews we read, we expected better. The service was not good at all then the food was so terribly average. I must say that the chips were very good and the salsa pretty decent. We're still looking for a decent place to eat in Troy since we drive through it frequently. I guess we're still looking. We won't bother coming here again. read more

Great experience! We were grumpy and exhausted after flying from Oregon. They were extremely busy, and found us a table with hardly any wait. The service was excellent, and the food , absolutely delicious! Portions were more than adequate and the drinks well balanced and generous. We returned to our hotel room in way better spirits! read more

This place is disgusting!! 1st while sitting and eating a roach crawled up the wall. We called a waiter to our table and he started to explain they sprayed this morning and that's why we saw a roach. I instantly stop eating and drinking. So our waiter brought the tab and they charged me for my entire meal. I then ask to speak to a manager. She said they will take care of it when I got to the counter to pay. I got to the counter to pay and there was female there with a black eye telling me I have to go find a manager. I'm sorry I don't work here and I don't know who the manager is. Then she says hold on I'll go get them... uuummm me thinking to myself..yes because that's your job! So the owner comes and ask me if the roach was in my food and I said no but it's not sanitary to have a roach in a restaurant while people are eating. He got rude and start speaking really fast and being VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! So as I was paying I saw the Food Health score of 79! I told him don't worry about it I should have seen the score before I came here. Then he said that's not even what's wrong that score does t matter. I explained to him professionals come to make sure you restaurant is clean enough to operate. He really got upset and kept speaking to me words I couldn't understand. I could no longer take it so I paid with cash and walked out. Note I even showed him a picture of the roach on the wall. read more

First time here. Staff was friendly and the place was clean. Ordered cheese dip and it was awesome. Thick and had a little zing. Salsa was great as well. Chips were the thin type and very fresh. Food was prepared well and had authentic flavors. Highly recommend this place. Also for those that always ask me. The bathroom was very clean which also says a lot about a place. read more

I was overall pleased with the service and enjoyed my food. I think they have good salsa as well as the beans and rice. My chicken quesadilla could have used more cheese but was packed full of chicken. This is the first time I have been there, but based on this experience I will be back! read more

Not a bad Mexican restaurant! Great service, and great prices. It's a little bit of a weird place (behind a strip mall on the back side -- you can't easily see it from the main road), but it's worth the look. They have probably the best margaritas and fried chicken flautas in town! read more

They have a huge menu selection and friendly servers too. Great drinks and fun atmosphere. The best Mexican in Troy, Alabama.

The thing about the Rodeo Mexican Restaurant is I've been there twice and I mexican't say anything bad about it.

The food was great. But it really depended upon what you ordered. My friends got the enchiladas and were not impressed. I got the California salad and it had a ton of beef on it. The house dressing was also very good. I am giving them a three star review because the service was terrible. We were one of 3 full tables in the entire place and were there for more than 15 minutes trying to catch a waiters eye. You would think they would have noticed because we 4 girls got stared at most of the time. If you want yummy takeout food, this place would be the one to go to. read more
