Ehhhhhhhh, not a fan of unseasoned beef in tacos or enchiladas. The salsa definitely has canned stewed tomatoes in it, thought the chips were too crunchy, need to be crispy. Was close to closing time on a Saturday night so it seemed like they were trying to get us out the door which I felt was a bit rude, had three waitresses serving us which made no sense. The prices were quite high for low quality food. Will not be going back, not recommended.. read more

Definitely not the best Mexican option in town. The tacos were loaded with too much cheese and we're basically tasteless. The refried beans were okay. The service was TERRIBLE! After I was seated I got my drink and chips and salsa fairly quickly. Then my waitress disappeared! I finally had to ask another waitress to find her. Instead the second waitress took my order, which came out fairly quickly. Then she disappeared! I didn't see her again until she brought my check. I won't be back. read more

I love this restaurant! The waiters really get to know you. Walk in, sit anywhere, and enjoy. The owner really takes care of us. My boyfriend likes to be surprised with anything and everything off their authentic menu. Keep in mind, it is not a printed menu like the regular one. For the quality and amount of food, their prices are so low! Most nights it's almost impossible to find a table, they're so busy! But it's worth the wait. read more

Just Awful salsa. Then it goes downhill from there. Servers were good, but cooks were very slow (unheard of in Mexican food). Cerveza was expensive. The food looks like a mess. Kids didn't even enjoy it. read more

Don't know what these folks are talking about but, in my humble opinion, I think their food is great. Never "dined in" at Schillinger's because we live in midtown (and we miss the Highway 90 location!). We do take out and it's just like the Hwy 90 location. Their salsa is wonderful. Check out their tortilla soup (made with homemade chicken stock) -- it's fabulous. I've had many, many entrees and have never had anything that wasn't fresh, hot and delicious. If you don't like this place, there's something wrong with you. Maybe you should stay home and get a Mexican tv dinner. :) read more

Bad experience, beans were basically soup, beef was burned and dried out (better than greasy if I'm trying to look at the upside lol), and then the reorder of chicken to replace it was just as bad. Not the server's fault, but he didn't do anything to try and save the bad review from coming at all. read more

I am sad to post this, as I have been a regular for years, coming to dine in weekly. The last several times I have been, it has not been busy and the service and food was sub-par. We waited to get drinks, had to flag down our server to get her attention. Our food came out wrong and no one bothered to come see what the problem was. The regular servers that are always there have never let us down and in fact are so on top of things that we never even had to tell them our order. The new people that are in the restaurant need to shadow the seasoned vets. We tip over 40% overtime we go, even with our family of 8. After this last visit, We will not be back for a while. read more

I have been to a number of Mexican restaurants since moving to Mobile, AL. We had a number of great Mexican restaurants from my area, so I went looking in Mobile for a great Mexican restaurant. I found one that was good, but unfortunately the owner died and the widow closed it down. So, I've kept looking for another one. I stopped one day, after work at El Giro on my way home. It had been a busy day and I haven't eaten during work. So I was so hungry. So, I stopped at El Giro. The restaurant itself isn't fancy. If you've ever been to Mexico and gone to a flee market or market areas, its about the same as El Giro. I don't care what it looks like, I care about the food and how it tastes. It's great here I love their salads, their salsa is great and I love their chunky Guacamole. I've never been disappointed by anything I've gotten there. If you want good Mexican food and can do without the fancy dining area, then I recommend this place. You get a lot of food for the price and everything I've had was excellent there. read more

Price is right for Mexican. Located conveniently the decor is sparse and it has a strange smell. They don't have a traditional lunch menu it's very limited. Dinner menu is much better. Great margaritas! read more
