Really good for the price! A lot of seating areas. Super fast service. Overall we enjoy it!

Open on Christmas and f-ing delicious. I had Al Pastor, Campechano, and Gringa tacos and ate them before I could take better photos. Chef's kiss

The people working here were very nice and the interior is bright and clean, but I was not impressed by the food. I got a chicken farolada and it was basically a quesadilla with tons of cheese and not a lot of meat. It was nothing special.

    Tacos al Pastor

The best tacos we had in Mexico City. This is a casual, inexpensive spot with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I was happy to find several vegetarian options in almost every category on the menu. Service was fast and friendly, and portions were larger than expected. One taco was really more like two tacos. My favorite dish was the Mushroom (Hongos) Tacos, which were so flavorful and hearty on their own that the cheese was unnecessary (albeit delicious, and crispy around the edges). The tortillas tasted fresh, and the variety of flavorful salsas enhanced every bite. The Nopales tacos were also great. My boyfriend loved the Al Pastor. Highly recommended.

    At your service!

Landed late night and needed something good to fill this growling belly. Stayed near by and found this around the corner and it was holy! SOOO MANY OPTIONS ON THE MENU. Soon as you sit down you are warmly greeted and served some tostadas with about 3 different salsas. (To die for) after the food is ordered it takes about 5-10 minutes for them to make it right in front of you. Just the quesadilla alone had about a pound of cheese!! Ugh recommend with all my heart. Get a carnitas taco for sure followed by a torta with chorizo & carne pastor. Thank me later! #yourwelcome Will come tomorrow night!

    Taurino Especial

Definitely not great. Mushroom taco, gross. Steak taco, basic. Taurino especial, good. Pastor, standard.

This is a sample of some the things they offer here.

I'm visiting Mexico City for the first time on vacation and staying with friends in la colonia la condesa. They recommended the place so we checked it out. It's basically a fancy taco placo that you find on a street corner just a lot cleaner and with more choices. So if you want street tacos without the gritty street atmosphere try this place. But be warned. Two of us ate and it was almost $500 pesos, for tacos! They have a good selection but I don't think it worth the price if your on a travel budget. The tacos will be tastier and cheaper if you get them at a taco stand.

El Farolito wouldn't be my first choice for tacos al pastor. BUT we love the faroladas de bisteck (pita bread with steak and cheese), the carnitas are good, the vegetarian alambre (cactus, mushrooms and onion fajita) is really good too. Also make sure you get a Colorin! They mix all the fruit juices they have: strawberry, coconut, mango, guava, etc and it's delicious.

    Menu

Not what I expected! The tacos were bland and expensive. The el pastor was good but not the best. The good thing is that we had leftovers to feed the street artist and his son. They seemed to enjoy it.

Best Tacos Ever!!! Don't get fooled this is the real deal, charcoal broiled Tacos are always tasty

This time there were about 10 people waiting and I finally decided it was worth it... and it absolutely was. The tacos were incredible, the service was fast, and they bring out 5-6 different sauces so you can try different flavors with everything. I sat outside, which made the experience even better great people-watching, amazing energy, and everyone walking by looked effortlessly stylish. Mexico City really is such a trendy, vibrant city. Honestly, I still think about these tacos. I could close my eyes and dream about this place.

Full disclaimer: these are my first tacos in Mexico City. The trumpo was really good!! Highly recommend! The res was good too, but not super standout. The chicharron itself was really good, but I don't know if I love it in a taco. The trumpo with the pineapple really stole the show. It's nice that the 3 tacos come with some potatoes. The potatoes were good! It seemed smashed then fried. Can't go wrong with frying potatoes. Food came out fast! It seems like this place can get super packed and busy, which I would think is a good sign!

The restaurant seating does give mall food court vibes, but that's ok i wasn't looking for anything fancy. All the wait staff and servers were very friendly and attentive at all times. Food does not take long at all to come out. Overall the food was disappointing. The only taco that was decent and had some flavor was the chicken taco(pechuga). Quite literally everything else was flavorless. The sauces on the side were the saving grace for every item of food I ordered. The ribeye taco was soaked in grease, which made eating it messy. The chuleta taco had no flavor and i would even say tasted bad. I do not recommend it. The food is definitely overpriced, especially considering the area and the amount of taco vendors that sell better tacos. Now what made this experience terrible was my waiter. I ask for the check and the total was $1139. I told him i was paying cash and i put down $1150 cash. He then taps at the receipt saying there's a mandatory tip and service fee. So he added on $100 to the bill right there on the spot. I analyze the receipt he handed to me and none of this is reflected on the receipt. I refused to argue so i put down the extra $100 and asked for the change. Tipping isn't mandatory especially for a table of 2. So i feel the waiter just made this up. I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. STAY AWAY and save some money. Theres better tasting food at way better prices in the area.

The patio was very inviting, so even though it was a bit chilly we sat outside. Our waiter was great, he was also busy, but we got our orders in and received in a reasonable amount of time. The cocktails were off the charts. Honestly can't remember what they were, we got two with Mayan honey and spices, and they were phenomenal. So fruity and spicy and served in an aesthetically pleasing way. One was the cocktail of the month, Aperol and mezcal, why not? Tasted like a, "fruity fireplace," according to our friend to which we wholeheartedly agreed. They gave us each an elote amuse bouche which was a tasty surprise and got us ready for more tastiness. Had a variety of tacos that we all enjoyed immensely. Cauliflower-both types were equally good. Birria queso was incredibly rich and just saturated with flavor-in the best way possible. Had esquites with blue corn and ham croquettes that we thoroughly enjoyed, especially the side salsas. Definitely had to do some negotiating when divvying them up since all of use could have eaten more. This place is not inexpensive, you will drop some money here, especially since you'll want to keep trying cocktails and tacos, but it's worth it. Name on the door was Maiz y Tinto, so that confused me for a bit.

Then, allow the friendly staff to bring as many items from the menu as you can handle. Come with a group so you can share. An absolute must is the whole fish done à la Contramar, one side of the split fish coated in a punchy parsley sauce and the other in a red adobo rub. Served with flour tortillas (which are refillable) and black bean dip, you'll be instructed how to compose perfect bites. Then, choose your own adventure! We also had both the 4 piece each shrimp tostadas and tuna tostadas. Radically different so getting both doesn't duplicate. The pasta (spaghettini) with clams was buttery and garlicky and the pasta was surprisingly not overcooked. Biggest surprise was the grilled soft shell crabs (with corn tortillas). They came pre cut then reassembled so it was easy to pick them up and pop them in your mouth. The grill flavor was fantastic and we were all impressed. We finished with a slice of coconut cake which was like a caramel coated macaroon. Perfect! Large wine list by the glass and bottle, many cocktails, sangria and beer to choose from. Definitely a place to visit when in Mexico City. Sorry for the lack of photos-- we forgot because we dove into each dish (we were hungry and they looked so good)! Got one good one though...
