On this last trip, we ordered the Special Cuban sandwich is their larger version of the famous Cuban or Cubano sandwich. We also ordered the Versailles Combo Appetizer which includes a beef empanada, a chicken empanada and a ham and cheese empanada. You also get the yucca fries with the cilantro sauce. And finally you get some croquettes. Not a huge fan of the croquettes here but they are OK. As previously mentioned, we have been here several time and on this trip, the hostess said if you want to be in the room of mirrors. What? I said OK and they took us to the back, where it is a, well... room of mirrors. The way she said it made me think, should I be concerned. But it was a big open area. The whole place is very nice. We love the large parking area because this place is packed most of the time. We actually came back and ordered another Cubano for the flight home. You should have seen the people looking at us while we ate our Cubano and they enjoyed their pretzel braids. :)

The portion is HUGE, the prices are amazing, and the chicken is so tender and flavorful that even the breast is juicy... and we ALL know chicken breast loves to disappoint! I haven't even tried the sandwiches yet, but every time I look around, somebody has one, so clearly they know something I don't! The whole experience is what makes this place special though. Live music, great drinks that actually have FLAVOR, generous portions, and such a fun atmosphere. I love sitting outside in the back with the fans going and the band playing. For a minute, you really feel like you've been transported somewhere else and you forget you're sitting in the middle of Miami. The service is quick and gets the job done, but I HAVE to shout out the man running the front! I don't know his name, but if you've been here on a busy weekend, you know EXACTLY who I'm talking about. Phone, walkie talkie, iPad, reservations, people everywhere... and somehow he's running the whole circus like a boss! Shoutout to the bartenders, cooks & servers too because everybody back there is WORKING! Old's Havana is already a tourist favorite, but coming from a local, I'd eat here every other day if I could. Come experience the sounds, energy & flavors of Little Havana for yourself! And when you sit down and start looking at that menu... remember this review. GET. THE. CHICKEN!!! (P.S Once I find the picture of it in my phone I will update the review) ¡Buen provecho!

The shop is small with only the shared outdoor seating with other nearby restaurants. The Pan Con Bistec was very tasty and I liked the crispy bits inside. The flavor of the sauce could have been more pronounced but otherwise a really good sandwich. The Pan con Lechon was okay overall because it tasted very one note flavor and texture wise. The meat was moist and tender but I preferred the Bistec and the Cubano. They also provided a garlic dipping sauce which was very flavorful. However I felt that it overpowered a lot of the sandwich flavors. I also got the Mamey Batida which was smooth and subtle with its sweetness. My first time having a Batida and I really liked the consistency but will probably be choose a different flavor next time.

Our server was friendly throughout the evening and the food was pretty quick to come out. I didn't know before coming here but Cafe La Trova was listed on the Top 50 Bars of North America for 2026 and so I had to get the Buenavista drink which is highlighted as their award winner. Admittedly, I was let down by the drink. The balance was a bit off and overall I wasn't very impressed. However the food more than made up for it. The ropa vieja was very savory and the avocado cream was very zesty/citrus which helped cut down some of the richness of the dish. My only note would be to give some more avocado cream since there were only 2 little dollops. The Arroz Con Pollo was excellent! Super flavorful and I could eat this everyday and be happy. The tomatoes and olives add that extra bit of acidity which was perfect. The live music also added to the ambiance and so if you're someone trying to get that local Miami/Cuban vibe, I think Cafe La Trova is it.

The team brushes it with butter before it goes into the press, and it comes out piping hot, melty and delicious. Don't get me wrong, food was delicious but was it breathtaking good? No. The reason I said that was when we walked in, one side was counter and the other was sit down. At the sit down it looked like a decent amount of locals while the sit down were just out of towners. The waitress was very kind and helped us get situated. My friends and I were recommended the Oxtail Stew, the fried pork chops, the medium cubano, sweet plantains, and the ham croquettes. The Oxtail was very flavorful, came with a side of rice and 3 pieces of plantains. The fried pork chops were a little too dry and had the texture of fried fish almost. I think it came with 4 or 5 pieces total for the order with a side of rice and beans. The cubano was rather large for the medium side which I appreciated. The plantains were probably my favorite dish out of all as they were really sweet, ripe and well made. The ham croquettes, this could be a me thing but i was expecting cheese and it was all ground ham. The fry on it was good though! Overall, great spot for a quick bite. Not too nosy, not too fancy. The only downside was that because it's in a popular area and there's a popular opinion of the restaurant, the food is a bit overpriced for what it is. Otherwise, I would say give it a try!

Unfortunately, our other server disappeared and never checked up on us. We pretty much didn't have any napkins during our entire duration of our meal. At least that part was good. We started off with a couple of mojitos and their Vaca Frita Tostones. You get these homemade maduro tostones topped off with shreeded beef in a moon sauce, pickled onion, and aji Amarillo aioli. A very delicious dish that didn't last long. Shortly after we received our main dish. I really hate when they do that. My wife ordered their Abuelas Ropa Vieja and I ordered their Masa de Puerco Chino. My wife didn't really care for her dish much. We've had plenty of Ropa Vieja before and would have preferred a congri type of rice as opppsed to just plain white rice. My dish was 10/10. Like in the name of "chino" this is an Asian inspired dish with fried rice, maduros, pineapple confit and crispy pork. A very delicious dish. It could have don't without the little salad on top, but at least it ads color to the dish. The crispy pork tasted so amazing and the fried had so much flavor. Mix in some of the maduros and you get a sweet and savory dish. Would definitely be returning to try this dish again.
