On the menu this weekend was the zereshk polo with chicken, tachin with chicken, and ghormeh sabzi with beef. They even threw in some free tadig which was such a nice touch! Everything was divine. However, the zereshk polo and tachin absolutely stole the show. So aromatic, fresh, sweet, flavorful and delicious. I couldn't get enough of those. I ravenously rushed from one bite to the next until my plate was empty. So bomb! If you order for pickup, then this is such a well priced meal too. And the owners are beyond friendly, patient and kind. We went back and forth on instagram trying to accommodate a date, order, and time. They were so helpful and receptive every step of the way. And when I arrived, they carried the food all the way to my car. So thoughtful. The only constructive thing I can say is that I wish there was more meat. I eat a lot of protein (shoot for 170g a day), so I would have liked a heftier portion of chicken and beef. But I eat way more meat than the average person. I'm sure that these protein portions would satisfy the majority of the population. All in all, this is a 5 star meal service. My Persian fiancée and I both highly recommend Sogol's Place. We'll for sure be back for more!

The lobster sandwich was also a standout and had a good portion of poached lobster on a light crispy brioche bun with lemon. No added flavors, just pure yummy main lobster meat with butter and lemon, the way it's suppose to be. We also had the rainbow roll which was very good, although the rice was just slightly dry. The wine pours were very generous, and we had a nice friendly chat with the server. Parking is on the street but we didn't have too much of an issue finding a space as it was early. The prices are very good given the quality and the area. Definitely recommend!

The food and drinks highlights: -the pornstar cocktail has always been my favorite. -Miso Glazed Sea Bass is rich, buttery, and full of flavor. -Truffle Sashimi is Delicate, fresh, and well balanced with the tasty truffle. -Baby Gem Caesar Salad has the perfect crunch and flavor. -Crispy Cauliflower was the shock of the night! Crispy, seasoned well, and surprisingly outperformed the shrimp. The not so good dishes: -Crispy Shrimp used to be my favorite dish but today it was unusually bland and lacking seasoning. -Hamachi Watermelon Crudo is a definite pass for our table. The flavor pairing just didn't hit right for us. -Crunchy Rice Cakes & Hellfire Tuna Roll both decent, but nothing memorable. There were other dishes ordered at our table which I didn't try like the steak and vegetable roll. The service was fine nothing spectacular, but standard for the space. They still hold on to their classic pretension (strictly no seating until your entire party arrives), but on the bright side, we secured a great table right in the main dining area instead of getting tucked away in the smaller enclosed garden room. Being out in the energy of the main room made a big difference! We had a fun night out and the scene is still alive, but with so many incredible new dining spots opening across LA, I won't be rushing back anytime soon. I'd recommend opting for Steve's Grilled Cheese over the cold Brandon (Veggie) "SandWalsh." If you reserve your ticket here, you actually don't have to buy any food at all. The inside is undoubtedly small, but we enjoyed sitting at the counter and taking in the décor. And if you don't want to even do that, I suppose you can just walk by on Melrose and take pics in front of the Peach Pit.

There is a total of 16 seats per night. 6 of us in our reservation. They dim the place for the ambience. Food wise - Total of 7 courses - last 2 was the dessert. There is no printed menu, so you'll just have to ask what it is that you're eating and why the main course -steak- was served first. We were asked to keep the utensils through out the course as they do not change your silverware for every course. Cringe. I had such a high expectation with the food prior to dinner. It felt flat - Everything. The only thing that we like was the corn bread. The steak was tough - some us got super rare and some got overly done tough. Some flavor combination just didn't pair well. Something with a fish dish but sour like hell. Another dish was blue and it just did not look a dish coming out of a fine dining restaurant. Funny the people that were there was talking about Somni, Providence, Melisse.... It just did not even come close. It's like going to a friend's house who's practicing to be a fine dining chef. Pics of the food is posted in this review. None of them was impressive. It just did not go well together. When it came to the 7th course - it was a shaved ice. The Asian assitant cook brought them over and said it's Mandarin ice. So we asked, can you give us a little bit more description... his response was so rude that he said "it's ice with mandarin orange flavor". Oh ok - now you say mandarin oranges. But his condescending attitude is not appreciated. The night is ending and the Chef has not once come to the table to say Hi or introduced himself. People started to leave and he decided to speak to some remaining guests. Then he gets stuck with that particular guest for a long time until everyone is leaving. We probably just had like a Hi and Hello thank you for the food. He seems nice though. Then we all left. We clearly didn't even care anymore at that point. Bad food and bad experience. No parking. Good luck finding a parking on the streets on fountain and Vermont with all the homeless around. It's a hype. It's mysterious because it's really not listed as a restaurant. Not for everyone.

But whenever we needed anything (ketchup for the fries, a second glass of wine, etc), we were looking and looking around for our server. 2nd glass of wine was literally dumped on our table with no smile or words by front of house manager. UNPLEASANT. The food was expensive and 2/5 at best for what they are charging. A $28 kale & chicken salad was BORING. "Fork & Knife Ribs" for $47 were ORDINARY. The deviled eggs were a travesty. They look better in the picture, but honestly at the table, they looked and tasted quite sad. Very difficult to mess up deviled eggs. Everything was served piping hot (fries, coffee) which was a plus. Key lime pie was decent, though not a WOW. Glasses of wine were also unfortunately on the bland side and BORING versions of themselves (pinot grigio, sangiovese). All in, this was an over $200 dinner for very mediocre food and overall poor and indifferent service. A huge DISAPPOINTMENT. Rather than selling us on the brand so that we could be repeat customers at other Hillstones again and again, this totally turned us off. So, so many restaurants in LA and everywhere to try.
