The food here is beyond amazing. The food stations are clean. However the rest of the restaurant is not. I would order to go.

    Delicious Alcapurria

This place.......... This place feels like home. Found this place on Yelp after craving an Alcapurria. The thing is, I just moved to El Paso a week ago from Orlando where you can find Puerto Rican food everywhere. Not the case here. So I decided to check it out. The restaurant is in a nondescript shopping center. If you blink, you will pass it. Pulled in and walked in. You can see most of the food for lunch at the front glass case. I ordered Arroz con Gandules, Pernil and beans on top of the rice. Then as I am waiting, I notice he has fresh Alcapurrias made . I was talking to the guy and he's been at that location for about 15 years and sounds like the pandemic has hit him hard. Anyways back to the food. You know you're at a legit Puerto Rican place when they offer you a slice of Avocado with your food! It's how I grew up. Anyways his food is to die for. The rice is done perfectly. The beans I believe had pieces of ham in it . And damn that Alcapurria. It was everything I expect it to be. The downside of this place is that it's a mile from my house and I'm probably going to go broke . If you're considering this place , put the phone down and just go! It's that good. I mean great. Oh and the owner is really nice.

When we first pulled up, there were only two cars in the parking lot, so we assumed it was pretty empty inside. It was. There were about 4 people in there. No one checked our ID, or greeted us. The interior was nice and modern looking. The bartender (possibly manager?) approached us and asked if we wanted anything to drink. We didn't, not right away. We just wanted to check it out. As my girl and I sat on the couch for about 5-10 minutes, the bartender came back and told us "You guys can't just sit there. If you're not going to get anything to drink, I'm going to have to ask you guys to leave." So, we left. Not to mention, my girlfriend was working on setting up the app they had, so she could play music requests. But, the bartender just approached us in a rude manner and was pretty straightforward that if you don't pay to buy something to drink, you're gonna get kicked out. So, just keep that in mind guys. We then went to La Mina Bar & Night Club - and they were so much more friendly; didn't force you to buy a drink, either!

But it just opened 3 months ago so we wanted to give it a try. We were chillin and then I'm guessing the guy that owns the club/bar or the manager was like "since you guys aren't buying drinks, I'm going to have to kick you out. You guys can't just sit here." I was baffled. We had just got there like literally for 5 minutes. I've never been kicked out of a bar before for not buying drinks. I just said "okay" and we walked out. I didn't know how to respond or react. We went to another club/bar called La Mina Bar and Night Club. Before we sat down I asked the bartender if he'd kick us out if we didn't order drinks and he said no. I've been to other clubs and even when i didn't buy drinks they never kicked me out. By the way highly recommend La Mina Bar and Night club. The music was amazing and everyone was nice. So keep in mind that in order for you to say at Latin Quarters New York, you have to purchase a beverage or they'll kick you out. Do not recommend Latin Quarters New York.
