Amazing freshly made Puerto Rican food. The staff was welcoming, can hold a conversation and you will return for another visit. The desserts are yummy, and diverse. It's a quiet place, with other restaurants around it, but this is one I highly recommend. read more

Cassava left us with smiles and full bellies. Service was impeccable and the restaurant is super cute! The beverages were delicious we tried a passion fruit and guava beverage they taste so good and fresh. Our meals were delicious! Only recommendation was less salt on the chicken and the tostones would benefit from some adobe seasoning. Let's not forget about the pastries (Not pictured) absolutely delicious!!! We had a flan de coco and quesillo! We cannot wait to come back and try something new! Oh the pernil was our favorite! read more

I had the best Cubano sandwich in a long time. I recommend this restaurant if you have ever had a real Cuban sandwich.

Wow, I'm sincerely at a loss for words. To give you a piece of my history, I'm born and raised in Puerto Rico but I've been in the US for the past 12 years and this is by far one of the top 3 places I've had Puertorrican food at. I had the fried pork with onions with mofongo and my husband had the pernil with mofongo. The fried pork was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection with perfect fat marbling making it very juicy. The mofongo was delicious as well. The pernil was mouthwatering, juicy and so tender that it could be cut with a spoon. The platter with tostones, amarillitos, carne frita, masitas de pollo, sorullos, and cassava fries was outstanding. The tostones were fried to perfection, the amarillitos were sweet, the carne frita and masitas de pollo were so flavorful and juicy and the sorullitos were incredible, which is a lot to say because I DO NOT typically like sorullitos at all. Even the cassava fries were simply perfect. I'm typically prepared to be disappointed by something when I visit a restaurant but this place blew my mind. Also, the ferrero tres leches was like heaven in a cup, the texture and flavor were peak perfection. In regard to ambiance, when I stepped in that restaurant it felt like I was back at home. The music, the decor and the friendliness of the staff was simply put, heartfelt. I will recommend this restaurant to every single person I have a conversation with because it's an experience everyone must live. read more

The food is delicious. I can't find a word to explain how good the food is. It is well seasoned and cooked. This has been the best Puerto Rican food Ive had in my life. The service is outstanding. We were greeted and served by a gentleman who was kind enough to explain the menu to us. He also served us samples of their fresh juice. Make sure to try the Parcha juice. It has a great taste. The restaurant is very clean. You can enjoy your food while listening to nice music. read more

I have yet to try Puerto Rican cuisine! However, I've had coquito aka Puerto Rican egg nog many times during the holidays. My sister is married to a Puerto Rican so she learned how to make it. She doesn't cook that much but she can make a mean coquito. She didn't come home for Christmas this year, unfortunately. I decided to buy coquito from Cassava. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made! The coquito is delicious from here. It's on the sweet and rich side but it was perfect for me. It's non-alcoholic but no biggie, I can add Bacardi (or vodka) if I want. I haven't done that yet. They also have pistachio and Nutella coquito. I've never tasted or heard of those flavors of coquito before! Maybe some other time? Cassava also offers several desserts and bread for sale. There's cooking classes and catering, too. I LOVE tres leches cake (three milks cake) so I knew I had to try theirs. It was also amazing! It was fluffy but not too soggy. It had just the right amount of sweetness to it. I've had many slices of tres leches cake in my life. I would have to say theirs is one of the best I've ever had. I gobbled that bad boy up QUICK! I was so into it, I forgot to take a photo! Lol. Oops! Maybe next time? The coquito runs at $11-14 and the tres leches cake cup was $3.50 or $4. The young lady who was helping me with my order was very nice and friendly. I would definitely consider trying Cassava's food in the near future. You can order it from Uber Eats here on Yelp and/or Doordash. I'm sure their food is just as tasty as their coquito and tres leches cake. Let's continue to support local businesses! read more

Cassava - Coquito...Puerto Rican eggnog - Caterers Near Me - El Paso, Texas

Go figure that on my 1st full day in El Paso after moving here from Orlando, Florida I find this place not looking for it. And I was craving Quesitos. I drove down the street and when I saw the sign, I did the fastest U-Turn and pulled in. Walking in, I knew it smelled like home. I grew up in Puerto Rico and can alway smell La panadería de la esquina en Carolina. When you walk in you can smell the bread . Heavenly I tell you. I ordered a quesito and a budin. They were both so good and what I needed. Now if I could just find an Alcapurria I would be set . This place is awesome and close to my house read more

CASSAVA IS SUSTENANCE, CASSAVA IS LIFE Cassava is sustenance, Cassava is life. It is a staple in many diets and fuels the tropics with its rich carbohydrates and cultural influence. Here in El Paso, Cassava reincarnates the passionate spirit of Puerto Rican cuisine. From savoury dishes to decadent sweets, Cassava invites you to a festive experience, like an edible postcard from the Caribbean. Never forget the small, yet mighty flavours of this rich port of the tropics and island of enchantment. The FOOD: Churrifongo: WHEN CHIMICHURRI STEAK MEETS THE BIG MOFONGO To call this meat and potatoes would be a big understatement. The Churrifongo is a beef skirt steak roulade (meat roll up) stuffed with mofongo, a deliciously savoury mash of fried plantains with garlic, salt, oil, and various spices. Mofongo is like mashed potatoes taken to the next level and enhanced by a ton of flavour. The beef skirt steak was juicy and robust, which was balanced by a side salad and yellow rice with earthy green pigeon beans. The steak is both tender and chewy at the same time, but retains a lot of the beefy flavour. The chimichurri sauce provides an earthy and herbal taste suspended in oil. The VERDICT: DELICACIES FROM THE RICH PORT, THE ISLAND OF ENCHANTMENT Each culture has cuisine that is intimately interwoven into their history. It is their way of life. It is how they stand the test of time. It is who they are. Cassava represents times of celebration and honors the times of struggle that allow us to appreciate what we have. The Churrifongo is a fancy celebration of Puerto Rican cuisine with a cut of skirt steak wrapped around the cultural staple of mofongo, the heavenly stepbrother of mashed potatoes, but with an intensity of spices and flavours. If you want a dish with a ton of umami flavour, then definitely try the Churrifongo or any of the mofongo, bifongo, or trifongo. I will definitely be back to try the Puerto Rican desserts and really embrace the baked goods. read more

Cassava - Churrifongo: WHEN CHIMICHURRI STEAK MEETS THE BIG MOFONGO - Caterers Near Me - El Paso, Texas

Everything about this place is incredible! I'm just sad we didn't realize it existed sooner. While waiting for food somewhere else, I stopped in just to grab a drink to go because they looked open, and I honestly thought it was just a bakery, but once I was in there I saw they had full entrees and a full pastry and dessert list and was intrigued. I tried the coconut soda (very good) and got a beef empanada to go. The empananda I ate at home and it had no sauce and I don't normally like beef, but it was so good and flavorful we decided we absolutely had to come for dinner sometime. So we went back. We both had a juice; I got the guava and he got the soursop and both were fabulous...and for food my boyfriend got the Cubano with Yucca fries (they come with a chimichurri sauce) and I got the pork sandwich (which came on some interesting bread-a bifongo bun, I guess made with plantains and cassava/yucca) , and both were absolutely amazing. My boyfriend is now hooked on these and wants a lifetime supply. I also got the Arroz Mamposteado on the side; a rice and bean dish with onions and who knows what else that was fabulous that I had for breakfast the next day. I also got some dessert....the guy told me what it was but I honestly have no idea; it was kind of like a rice pudding/flan thing, but whatever it was amazing and I'll go ahead and assume everything else is, too. We had no idea this existed, and now our lives are changed forever. There's full table seating and a few booths, and the couple that works there are both just absolutely lovely! I met the wife the first time getting my drink and she was so friendly and helpful in helping me choose something to get. And then the husband was our server when we went back to eat and he was patient explaining to us what everything was and providing recommendations. Everything about this place is 5 stars. We will be BACK! read more

The soupa was very good, and service was ok, but the rest of 3 dishes we tried were not very flavorful and very small portions. Early afternoon, and they were out of alot; or alit just wasn't available. It says alot for an establishment if the floors, tables, and walls that should be white heading to the kitchen and bathroom are black and dirty. Fresh pai t would do alot for perception. read more

Delicious food and great service. I had the "camarones al ajillo with mofongo" and it tasted just like it did back home. They also sell "pan soba'o" and to eat that with some butter and enjoy a cup of coffee was heaven in exile. The restaurant's decoration is minimalist and yet lovely, not like other Puerto Rican restaurants in town that have colors and pictures covering every inch of the place in a rather tacky manner. There's a beautiful mural, and the tables are covered by neat white tablecloths. I wish them great fortune in their business. Will definitely return ASAP. read more

Where do I start, This by far has to be some of the best HOME COOKED food I have had in a long time. We started with the "Appetizer tray" Delicious yum, yum YUM! I had one of the best cuban sandwich. we also had the "pechuga a la plancha" juicy chicken breast. A must come and eat restaurant. read more

What a nice little restaurant on Zaragoza across from Chic-fil-a. I enjoyed that there was no music, no TVs. The restaurant has about three booths and maybe five tables. The tables have tablecloths! I loved that. I was there for lunch on a Sunday and though several people came in to pick up take out, the restaurant was not full. I ordered the Carne encebollada with salad and arroz mamposteado. The cubed pork was fried to perfection. It was so delicious I wanted to both gulp it down and slow down to enjoy each morsel. I loved the rice with vegetables, although it was a bit salty. Fortunately I had the fresh salad which took some of the saltiness. Everything was delicious. Served in a very timely manner and the staff was super nice. Next time I want to try the tostones supreme! This was a wonderful find. Go find it and enjoy. read more

is a fantastic place with amazing food, excellent service, and great prices. I highly recommend it for its welcoming family ambiance.

I have never had Puerto Rican food before but let me tell you that this place is super delicious! I have tried many of their pastries. My top favorites are their tres leches cake and their apple budin!!!! I just tried their Cuban sandwich and it definitely did not disappoint. Their bread is homemade and their carnitas are prepared in house! I ordered my sandwich with tostones (fried plantains) and the dipping sauce that it came with was perfect and really complemented the flavor. This restaurant is super clean and cozy! The customer service is also amazing!!! Highly recommend. read more

Highly recommend this place. Everything is delicious. The food, and the deserts are mouth watering. My favorite desert is the vanilla flan, at least right now. The apple budin is becoming a close second. read more

I ordered to go. I was in search of Puerto Rican Food while in El Paso. The food is mostly Yucca (Cassava) based. It provides a new twist on traditional Puerto Rican foods. Typically the relleno de papa is made with potato but their version is made with yucca and makes it much more dense. Delicious but different. I forgot to take pictures because I started eating right away. LOL. Oops. read more

Pastries and coquito were good but unfortunately the actual dishes weren't great. For context, soy Boricua and I have high stands for PR food. We actually ended up throwing quite a bit away because much of what we ordered was bland or just odd tasting. My kiddo order a pernil sandwich and he liked it okay. The dining area was dimly lit and it wasn't very clean either. Tables and floors were sticky. read more

What can I say but wow!!! This place is like a little hidden gem. It's off of Montana so it's easily accessible, simple but beautiful decor, and the staff is super friendly from the moment you walk in. The menu has pictures for those that are visually stimulated to eat, easy to read, and organized. The food is really goodand it has perfect portions not an overwhelming amount of food but not too little. The flavors are aromatic and the trifongo is to die for!!! CASSAVA IS A MUST TRY! I will definitely be returning for other dishes. Ooooo and it's a bakery too so you can take care of your sweet tooth as well! read more
