    Hamburger empanada
    Marie G.

Wow this is way better than anticipated! So right now there is terrible construction going on right in front of the store so it is not easy to maneuver into the parking area, but it is well worth it. They have many choices of fillings that are beautifully wrapped in a delicious pastry and branded on the top so you know what is what. My favorite was the hamburger in the big, round empanada crust. My other favorite was the pineapple- not overly sweet like the ones you get at a bakery- this was just right. The price seems steep at over $4 for an empanada, but they are much larger than the small ones at some restaurants. Everything I got was so good. Tip: if you don't want to try to drive there with the construction, some food delivery services do deliver from there- sweet!

So happy to see a good empanada restaurant in town, even if it is on the other (west) side of town! The menu has lots of variety to choose from and is very clear with detailed descriptions for each! So many delicious pockets of baked food goodness to choose from! Dropped by and was happy to see so many "Ready to go" options available! Tried to get one of as many that were available to see what we liked best! Opted for (BCH) Beef & Cheese, a (CHO) Chorizo & Cheese, (PP) Pepperoni & Cheese, (HBC) Ham & Bacon & Cheese, (PH) Philly Cheesesteak, (BBQ) BBQ Pulled Pork from the MEATS; (S) Spinach & Cheese from the VEGGIES; (SH) Shrimp & Chipotle from the SEAFOOD and one of each of the SWEETS - (N) Nutella, (AC) Apple & Cinnamon, (LQ) Leche Quemada, (PN) Pinadelphia. One family salad came with the order of a dozen. The salad is coleslaw style. We loved all of the empanadas - no complaints about ANY of the options we had to choose from! Some of our favorites included the Philly Cheesesteak, BBQ Pulled Pork, Pepperoni & Cheese and Beef & Cheese. All of the desert options were very good too! Looking forward to going back again and trying the options we didn't get to try this time around. Highly recommend this place for tasty baked empanadas!

Delicious empanadas. I got a combo with 3 empanadas, one sauce and one drink and I paid a bit over $11. The first one I had was the beef habanero. The beef was good and the habanero gave it a nice kick. Not overly spicy at all. Perfect balance. The humita is vegetarian and it was good. The chimichurri sauce is oil with vinegar and spices like oregano. It is a traditional Argentinian sauce. Good choice for the beef habanero empanada. The third one was the pinadelphia, it has chunks of pineapple with Philadelphia cheese but I expected more filling. It is not overly sweet, so a good way to finish to my meal. Glad I was on the west side of town to be able to stop here. Even though i live on the east side, I will be making special trips to get me some empanadas. Good food! I did go back for more empanadas and tried different ones this time. The best one was the chicken Buffalo.

On Christmas Eve, my family and I decided to go out for dinner even though it wasn't planned and after trying 3 restaurants that we had called ahead to confirm they were open but in fact said they were closing early, we accidentally came across this place and let me tell you, best accidental find EVER! We got a wide variety of their empanadas to try everything and I loved that they stamp on the top the initials of what you order. Makes splitting everything so easy. My kids and husband loved the chorizo, Buffalo chicken and the pepperoni empanadas. I didn't even get a chance to try them because they are them so fast lol. I got the ham and cheese, and the Philly cheesesteaks which was so good with the chimichurri sauce. That sauce was so delicious! We even got desert and I loved the leche quemada and my kids loved the Nutella. All in all this is a great place, nice staff, delicious food and sauces and was a great adventure trying Argentinian empanadas.

They sell baked not fried empanadas. The ingredients are fresh and made daily. They offer 18 different fillings. They are crunchy but soft in the middle and it feels like you're eating a pie. All of them taste really good. I tried almost all the flavors. They also stamp them so you know which one you are eating. They have daily specials so check them out. You can sit and enjoy them there or take them home. They have seafood options, sweet, savory and even vegetarian Empanadas. Yummy

Super good! The empanadas kind of reminded me of the ones grandma makes in the fall. She usually makes camote or sweet potato and pumpkin. Both sweet potato and pumpkin taste similar to me. Anyway...I ordered four empanadas. The leche quemada empanada (burnt milk) sort of reminded me of a sweet potato/pumpkin one. It was really tasty. Keep in mind I'm not really a pumpkin or sweet potato fan unless it's inside empanadas (empanadas are somewhat similar to turnovers). It wasn't what I was expecting but it was still great tasting. For some reason, I thought it would be more like tres leches, meaning milkier and sweeter. I don't know why I was thinking of that! Note to self: Tres leches and leche quemada are two different things. The dough tasted really fresh and savory in each of them. I liked that very much. I also enjoyed the crunch in every bite I took. I ordered a pepperoni and cheese, along with a philly cheesesteak. I liked both of these. The only thing I didn't like about the cheesesteak was that it had too many tiny, chopped up onions inside of it. The meat had a great taste. Bland anything was out of the question with these empanadas. I also got a Nutella empanada but I haven't tasted it yet. I'll probably warm it up and eat it later on. I got a combo and it came with two empanadas, a salad, a dipping sauce (I chose Ranch dressing) and a drink. The ranch complimented the empanadas perfectly! With the two other sweet empanadas, the total came out to $18 and change. I felt that the empanadas were a good size. My dog wouldn't let me eat one in its entirety! I shared the pepperoni and cheesesteak with him. He loved them! He devoured them within two minutes! He's kind of picky with food so that's a good sign if something tastes good or not. The salad was more like cole slaw. It was pretty good too. It had chopped nuts on top of it. That was different in a good way. La Empanaderia has four locations. Three are in Mexico (Chihuahua) and one is here. The customer service was great. The young lady who was helping me out was really friendly and helpful. I told her it was my first time visiting. She told me they offer specials/promotions everyday except for Saturday. The day I went, it was 10 percent off my order. That's pretty cool! Would I come back? YES! Try it sometime, El Paso peeps!

GrubHub delivery, which arrived promptly with the food still warm. I love the variety of options on the menu. The coleslaw was a treat--crunchy with just the right amount of sweet. I also love that it's made with yogurt instead of mayonnaise. I look forward to trying more flavors as well as sweet empanada soon!

This place has delicious empanadas and a variety of options to choose from. It was our first time there and honestly wanted to order one of everything. Being a family of 5, I personally thought that it is a bit pricey for each empanada. Other than the price, we cannot complain. The place is very clean and the customer service we received was great!

    Tiny Empanadas for $3.69 each
    Kristine V.

They serve tiny snacks as empanadas. I was really looking forward to trying these empanadas at this new place but was soooo disappointed in them. I tried the nutella, cheese with pepperoni, and beef habanero ones and to begin with they were all tiny (see picture) and tasted "so so". I would never return. I'm especially disappointed in the size to price ratio. At close to $4 each this is really sad. But I wouldn't even return if the size was bigger. Only if they also changed their recipes.

    Gabriela A.

I was waiting for this place to open, I finally got empanadas both sweet and salty. I can't describe the quality of these empanadas, they are absolutely amazing, great customer service, fast and beautiful looking LOL! It was worth the wait. Highly recommended!

Hungry and in a hurry: I had just picked up my car from Casa Nissan and wanted something quick before heading out of town. I spotted this Venezuelan place nearby and thought I'd give it a try. The restaurant was completely empty when I walked in. Music was blasting so loud that it was hard to talk. Uncomfortable start: A woman came out from the kitchen who barely spoke English. She looked at me like she didn't really want to be there -- or want me there. It was awkward from the start. Confusing menu: She handed me a single-page menu and I ordered Tequeños (5 for $10) and one Tequeyoyo. She held up three fingers so I thought, okay -- three must come in an order like the Tequeños. Another customer came in after me -- she spoke Spanish -- and suddenly she was handed a multi-page menu with more items and prices I'd never seen. That's when I realized I hadn't been given the full menu. Food quality: When my food arrived, it was a lot -- way more than expected -- and honestly it tasted like something frozen and reheated . Billing mess: When I went to pay, she charged me for three separate Tequeyoyos instead of one. I showed her the price on my menu ($4 each), but she insisted I owed for three. Then another woman came out and showed me that "other" menu again with different prices. The Spanish-speaking customer got full service and a friendly tone -- I got attitude and confusion. I can't lie... it didn't feel fair. How it ended: They finally agreed to honor the original price, but I still paid the difference as a tip because I felt bad about the misunderstanding -- even though it wasn't my fault. They didn't thank me or even acknowledge it. Final thoughts: The whole experience left me feeling gaslighted and discriminated against for not speaking Spanish. I walked out embarrassed, frustrated, and hungry for something better. I love supporting local restaurants -- but respect and clear communication matter just as much as flavor. Hopefully they improve, because no one should feel unwelcome when all they wanted was a quick bite.

My mom made a reservation for 3 people, June 19th, 2026. Upon arrival, staff advised our table was occupied by other patrons, & would have to find another table. They proceeded to sit us at a table meant for 2. We did not fit comfortably, and plenty of other tables seemed available. I approached front desk and requested a change of table. The staff (3 women) proceeded to explain me about their reservations, table availability, restaurant occupancy, table #'s, etc. They were not polite, were flustered & stressed out. They were checking but stated it was not possible, I basically had to beg, to be moved to another table. it worked, and we got moved. This took about 10-15 minutes. it really was a hassle... I was ready to walk out...How could you start your dinning experience like this? Anyway, we ordered drinks, appetizers & main course, as soon as we got the 1st appetizer, a an employee came to the table she told us: They have other reservations, & need our table, and we need to rush so they can take care of their reservations. I could not believe her. By the way, no other patrons were getting rushed out, just us. This woman really ruined the mood. Ive never been told to eat quickly because there are other reservations in need of my table. I told her- to go ask other patrons for their table, and to STOP disturbing us. she walked away.. on to the food review: I got the Jamaica Mezcalita- it really was great tasting & a beautiful presentation in a coupe glass, nicely garnished. Highly recommended- or not? (the waitress told me to rush & get out?? Mezcal is meant to be zipped..) My mom had the mandarin mezcal drink- beautiful presentation, she loved it. See pictures. Appetizers: we had the Jalea de mariscos & tuna nikei. Beautiful presentation & delicious- ( but did we enjoy it? not really, were told to rush.) My parents each had the tacos de pulpo, I got the Maracuya Ceviche- again beautiful presentation & taste.. as we started eating, we had another visitor- the woman from the from desk, this time saying she was leaving, and she had the nerve to tell me to not stress out & enjoy, proceeded to mention everything about the reservations, tables etc. It was annoying. I told her- that's an internal restaurant issue, i dont work here, I am a customer. I dont even know why they kept burdening me with all their internal issues. I will say nobody had the courtesy to apologize. Not one person said- sorry for the inconvenience. All i wanted was to have a nice dinner with my parents & AMAR's staff made sure to made it uncomfortable and rude. Where do you hire your staff? Exception: Max the waiter, he did a good job, was pleasant Resumen en Espanol: Jamas en la vida nos habian dicho que comamos rapido por que necesitan la mesa para otra reserva. Increible. Anyhow, back to the food, the breakfast plate was alright, it wasn't anything to write home about, as it came with some white cheese, an arepa, black beans, overcooked eggs and mayo. It reminded me of the meals I had in Costa Rica, hearty, filling, and no spices whatsoever. I couldn't finish it. It was also expensive at $14. The coffee it came with was so delicious though, it almost made up for the whole plate. Similar to the Costa Rican Chorreador style brew, Guayoyo is a coffee sock brewing method. Not sure if they did that here, but the result is a deeply sweet flavor with notably balanced acidity and fruity undertones. It tasted like they added condensed milk and the foam on top was so decadent. I'll go back just for the coffee. Fortunately they have something else that's ridiculously good. Tequeños, or Venezuelan cheese sticks, makes mozzarella sticks seem like children's food. It's basically fried cheese with pastry dough, but the queso Blanco is perfectly salty, the pastry oh so light and buttery and flaky. It's $9 for 6 and worth it. Don't even get me started on the dipping sauce, Guasacaca or avocado salsa, it's a brighter, tangier version of guacamole. This one tasted amazing paired with the Tequeños. I can't wait to explore the rest of the menu, it's definitely exciting to see different cuisines offered in El Paso!
