To start off the restaurant is very clean and very aesthetically pleasing plenty of space for a family and diverse enough for a couple. The service was good, nothing out of the ordinary the gentleman was very kind and is on top of his work. The food was really good I had the machaca breakfast and the french toast breakfast. The machaca breakfast was very filling with good amount of flavor 7.4 out of ten I would eat again. The french toast plate was the bomb, big thick fluffy french toast with strawberries and butter and syrup were really up my alley 8.5 would definitely be an up and coming choice for the future. Food was amazing, I got breakfast and the rest of the table got lunch, all around great. It was very busy and the only reason it gets four stars instead of five is because service was pretty slow and there were definitely certain regular tables that were getting more attention than first timers like us. I felt like caldo and the girl wanted breakfast so we ended up at Lucy's Cafe West. They recently renovated and added another dining area about 2 months ago so it's twice the size now. The manager was super nice, they opened a little bit late, but it's because of the worker shortage situation, so completely understandable. We ended up ordering the French toast plate and it was beautifully presented and the little loved the chocolate sauce twist. I got the Tlalpeno caldo because it sounded so interesting, a chicken based broth with garbanzo beans, shredded chicken, veggies, cheese, avocados, and a chipotle chili which gives it a bit of a kick. The manager described it like a tortilla soup but without the tortilla strips and spicier...and that's exactly what it was. So, so good. Very flavorful and perfect for the rainy weather. If you get soup/caldo, get this one. It also came with a side of rice and 2 mini quesadillas. It was a lot of food. The quesadillas and the roasted salsa that came with them was excellent. The salsa verde, while it had a small kick, was bland. Maybe a little salt, cilantro or some other spices would be better. Basically no depth of flavor. The carnitas burritos were also bland. The enchilada sauce was bitter, like it had been on the stove a few hours too long. Trying a legend at another city is always interesting. Lucy's is a local phenomenon in El Paso, whose small cafe and homegrown recipes are famous with the locals. I heard about it from a friend and an El Paso resident who had been frequenting the restaurant in it's original local for over 20 years. On my trip to El Paso, he recommended I stop at one of the Lucy's cafe locations, so I tried the Lucy's Cafe West, near my hotel, for lunch. I was not disappointed. My meal was the Combination Plate, which included an enchilada, Chili relleno, a taco, rice and beans. This gave me a taste of a few things. The relleno was excellent and filled with hot white Mexican cheese. The enchilada was likewise flavorful. But the winner of my plate was the single Tacos Antonia, an amazing taco with nicely spiced meat, avocado, and an amazing shell that is itself spiced and crispy-- wow! My son also had lunch with me at Lucy's. His meal was the Machaca plate, which is a large platter filled with perfect machaca and flooded with a layer of real mexican queso. Wow. The plate had other items on it, but who could remember with the delightful taste of the liquid queso infused machaca. The service was excellent, the prices were surprisingly low and the cafe had a small mom and pop feel that just made you feel welcome. The overall experience was definitely a 5 star. I will be back. The Tacos Antonio is the win, and paired with the queso machaca can hardly be illegal. Amazing. read more

Get this for breakfast! Lucy's Famous Machaca Plate: Shredded beef - usually brisket - or chicken seasoned with tomatoes, onion, and egg smothered in a generous serving of Lucy's own Chile Con Queso. If you don't want the stuff drowned in cheese ask them to hold off because they are generous! Can't speak for anything on the menu other than breakfast. Sit at the counter if you can. It's just wonderful to watch a short order cook who knows how to handle a flat grill. And that means you have to wait to get it cooked. They don't make anything ahead of time - well except the cheese! Based on the flavor and care put into the Machaca plate I would not hesitate to branch out and get the Tampiquena or fajitas or tacos or...well, you get my drift. Ordered some breakfast burritos to-go, but once I arrived and saw the ambiance, we decided to eat-in. The place is clean, cute, and efficient. You can tell the tortillas aren't homemade, but they're still good. Coffee is bottomless and they leave a container of liquid creamer and sugar dispenser on the table. No complaints about the coffee. Drinks are served in Mason glasses, and the lemonade tastes fresh-squeezed (I cringe at Minute Maid tart stuff, so theirs was yummy). They have an outdoor seating area, but it'll only really accommodate 2 people per table. Important to note is when you come in, there is a list you sign yourself into. It's white lined paper on a clipboard next to the register. I saw people come in who knew and were able to jump people over who didn't. They do charge 3.5% credit card fees, so bring cash if you can. We had two coffees, lemonade, 3 breakfast burritos for $23. So affordable and definitely worth it. We'll be back. read more

Went for a r breakfast on a Sunday morning and the place was hopping-too many guests and very little staff -I do have to give them credit very organized! Ordered my food with no cheese and of course it came with cheese and it appeared to me that when I got it back all they did was scrap it off and add more sauce...luckily not allergic to cheese so was ok...thought they would have re-made my food?!?!? I started with free chips and salsa, then had some guacamole and the Taco's Antonia plate. The guac and tacos had a different flavor than I would have thought but it was very good. The portions were good, not too much or too little. I had tea to drink which was served in a substantial mason jar. The service was excellent. The employees checked on me regularly and were very courteous. The dining area was pretty small but it wasn't terribly busy at the time I was there. My wife and I had breakfast a the west Lucy's location and it was delicious. The French toast, eggs, and sausage plate was perfect. The eggs were not over cooked which is always a problem at other restaurants. There was just the right amount of egg on the toasted bread with cinnamon and butter.
