Really good food and warm, friendly service at this new, VERY welcome place in Easthampton! We appreciate the attractive dining room and easy parking, as well as the convenient take out entrance for quick pick ups. Our latest meal was really delicious. Terrific chicken enchiladas with mole, and a carne asada plate with refried beans and rice were both enjoyable. We've also had their enchilada suiza and a yummy huarache...a thick corn tortilla topped with carnitas, lettuce, avocado, choice of salsa and cheese...plus plantains, several taco varieties and good chips and salsa. We are ready to come back to sample more. Maybe some of the negative reviews reflect the issues common to new restaurants, but we have enjoyed our experiences here and encourage anyone who wasn't happy with a first visit to come on back now that kinks have been worked out. The young, eager to please staff couldn't have been nicer or more efficient! Mixed review. We have been here two times. The first time service was terrible. Couldn't get napkins or silverware and it took way too long to place our order in a half empty restaurant. The food was the only thing that gave them a second try. Fish tacos and carne asada tacos were wonderful. Chips were fresh and salsa was clearly made in house. We decided to try again on a Friday night to see if service improved. Different experience. The place was packed but we were seated quickly and served much faster. The food: I have a minimum requirement for Mexican places. The mole must be good. In my opinion mole is the reason to eat Mexican food. I have to say the mole here is superb. Rich chocolate flavor. The food here is great. There were four of us and we all loved our meals. I had the Plato Pobre. It had steak which was grilled perfectly and rice and beans which were excellent. There were also these thick corn tortillas which were great with the meal. Enjoy! read more

It was opening week and I knew it was going to be busy the wait was not as long which was good. it took them over 30 minutes to get us just a drink order and another 30 to bring it to us and then she took our food order which I knew was going to take a little. we were also told no to one of the items because it takes too long to make. my food was very bland and they forgot my rice and beans which comes with my meal. The beans were watered down and the rice was dry with no flavor. The guacamole was OK but it was like they either put it in a blender or it was store bought . The Margarito was good but this is not a place that I think I will come back to. If the staff can't handle opening week and the food was that bad then why go back. read more

I really want to like this place, but I'm leaving 2 stars for their CARNITAS. I understand it's primarily a Salvadorean restaurant but there's a Mexican dinners section of the menu and I was craving carnitas. What I got was very small chopped up pieces of pork (zero percent crispy) swimming in salsa verde and potatoes (?) this was a pork stew at best and not something I would recommend -- especially if you're in the mood for carnitas. Not trying to be harsh here I just don't want anyone else who wants carnitas to be disappointed. Everyone else's dishes were good but I won't be rushing back, unfortunately. read more

Looking for something different and tried this place. A friend recently ate here and said the burrito was bland. I thought I would try it anyway. The burritos were not the only bland thing on the menu. My enchilada entree didn't have any flavor and was tepid at best. The cheese was barely melted. The service was slow, and at times not even there. It took quite a long time to get a glass of water and the meal at least a 40 min wait. I will say the decor was nice and fit the theme of the restaurant. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be back. This review is only to state the facts of the experience. Really good food. Nice staff. Great margaritas. Looking forward to going again. I've been three times since they opened up and I've been really happy each time. Pupusas and enchiladas were my favorite. I definitely recommend going. It's outside of the downtown which can be nice since parking is much easier. Tres leche was quite good too. read more

I've been a regular at the Amherst location for a while. They're good is fantastic and authentic. So glad there's a location in Easthampton now. I see some folks complaining about their service, it's a family-run restaurant with some serious love put into the food. As it's a Mexican/Salvadoran restaurant I decided to go for the (3x) Salvadoran pupusas, something I've never had before. I definitely enjoyed them although they're a bit heavy, I'm guessing that's just the way pupusas are. It was a lot of food: I brought home half. It came with a side of purple cabbage, kind of like slaw - very tasty and a bit spicy! I finished that so waitress kindly gave me more to go! Made a great impression overall. My one suggestion would be some chips and salsa on the table while waiting for orders to come out. My dining companion enjoyed his meal too - he's been there a number of times already. read more

Wow, heard great reviews, but was sadly disappointed. First off, sat for no fewer than 12 mins before asking for a server, then ordered drinks and an avocado for my 10 month old, 20 mins later drinks show up, another 20-30before food, and still no avocado that I asked for first. Also, Sunday's they have a super limited menu, which is printed on standard computer paper and near illegible, but to see the drink menu they have to bring you the full menu which you can't order from since they run super lean on Sunday's- like so lean you can't even get guac as an app on Sunday's. What garbage. Also, about 4 people in the small dining room, but took so long to get anything. Not worth my time for a second visit. I've never tipped bare minimum, but a lot of problems were the fault of the server- but honestly the food wasn't that great. #thankyounext #byefelicia also, no ac! How do they expect customers to enjoy dining here when you have to sit on hard wooden benches? The wait is long & by the time the food does come, you are so uncomfortable, you just want to leave! We went for lunch. I ordered the chicken avocado salad. The salad was dripping of water and basic iceberg lettuce with slices of Roma tomatoes . The dressing was too spicy to eat and the chicken was very good. The salad was served on a small salad plate and was 10.00. My husband ate the catfish tacos and liked them . The Michelada was delicious. We ordered chicken & rajas tamales, sopa de tortilla and chicken quesadillas: also delicious, abundant and no detectable oil. Much to be improved service wise. It was midday on a Sunday so there were only a couple other tables. It took around 10 minutes for the waitress to come over and she just dropped water off then walked away. About 10 more minutes pass then she comes and asks if we are ready to order. We put in an order for an appetizer and two drinks to start. 10 more minutes pass and finally our drinks come. At that point we decided not to order entrees in fear of being there for forever. The drinks were good, however, and the appetizer was too. The waitress was nice for the brief times she came up to us. I would hope they would have their service levels up to par by now but it appears they may still need more time. read more

This might be my favorite El Salvadoran restaurant in Western Mass. They are working out some of the issues of opening a new restaurant (this location, they've been in Amherst for a while) but their food is absolutely phenomenal. It's nice to have a new restaurant in town but this one needs some work. First off, they don't serve complimentary chips and salsa for the table. Never been to a Mexican restaurant that didn't do that. And no sauces on the table to spice up your meal. The first time I went I got the grilled chicken enchiladas and they were great, could really taste the grilled flavor. Ordered the same thing next I went and not so tasty, chicken was dry and no grilled flavor. A couple of people in my party ordered a burrito and they served a plain, unadorned burrito on a plate. No garnish, no sauces nothing. Same goes for tacos - you get two tacos on a plate with absolutely nothing else. They also don't have any local beer or beer on tap which is a shame as there are so many local breweries in the area. I won't be going back for a third time. Hopefully, La Veracruzana and Mission Cantina will make a better showing in town. read more

Sorry, but this ain't it. I got tacos, they were 100% whatever. It literally just tasted like the chicken was fried up in some oil and fajita seasoning. We got chips and salsa, which they charged for. Again, whatever it's only 3$ but the salsa that came with it was in a literal large ramican. Basically a large bag a chips with a ramican of salsa. Chips weren't salted and neither was the salsa. Boyfriend described his burrito as "refreshing, like a wrap but with rice and beans" which isn't really what you're looking for in a burrito. He asked for a salsa, I asked for a different salsa, they brought us just the salsa I asked for. I wasn't able to order singular tacos which is irritating to me as a person who doesn't like to eat 3 tacos at a time, but also, whatever. So it wasn't terrible& I guess I'm full, I understand why people have embraced this place since there's a void for Any kind of Central American cuisine In easthampton but this place isn't worth the hype and next time I'm in the area I'll just cross over into Noho for some bueno or veracruzana. Granted they have only been open for a few weeks at this location, but the disorganization is unacceptable. We were seated quickly enough and given menus with extremely small print that some of us could not read even with glasses. Then we sat for about 15 minutes and watched as other customers came in, were seated, provided place settings, water and chips, and their orders taken. We were finally able to get someone's attention and asked for water when a waitress came over to take our order. Several of those who arrived after us had finished eating before we were served. We also watched customers at three other tables get partially served. One or two of the people at the table had their food while the others waited from 2 to 10 minutes before their meals arrived. We were unable to get anyone's attention to get a glass of water refilled during our meal. The food tasted fine, although two of us ordered burritos that were lukewarm at best. It was certainly not good enough to go through that ordeal again. Hopefully they get their act together soon. read more

Couldn't wait to try, easthampton needed a quality mexican place big time. Friday April 26th was my first visit. Got the pecadillo burrito on special. The food was mouthwatering. The long haired white kid behind the counter needs more training, very deer in the headlights aura. several people waiting for the burrito special. lady that came in after me to pay and wait for the burrito mentioned to the kid that i was ahead of her. two burritos came up and the gent ahead of me picked his up and the kid calls the lady's name and said waiting on the pecadillo burrito and she said yes and he gave it to her and she left as i politely said enjoy my burrito and the kid goes huh? i mentioned i had already been waiting 15 minutes for a burrito that was supposed to be ready at noon and he had just given my burrito away to the lady behind me. more deer in the headlight looks and another more established person came up and said i'm sorry it'll just be a few minutes, i apologize. the amazing burrito was worth the wait and the butt chewing i got for arriving late back to work from picking up lunch. quite sure the wrinkles with the new peeps will get ironed out and the food is already spot on perfect. very VERY happy El Comalito is in whoville and i will be a very loyal patron. read more
