This has to be one of Mobile's top Mexican restaurants! It's so clean, friendly, and great atmosphere. Prices are fair for the yummy food and delicious drinks. Although I wish they kept the style of ordering as it was when they first opened - pay/order at the counter before sitting but I can see how they change was an improvement for the staff. When this place first opened, I thought it was an awesome addition to the West Mobile area. I ate here several times a month because of the quality and price point. What I loved about this restaurant was that it was a more authentic Taco Mama. The portions were awesome, the flavors were phenomenal, and it was so customizable. You could build your own burrito, nachos, or tacos, with whatever protein or toppings, for one price. I liked the variation of meats available. From what I can remember, they offered fried and grilled shrimp, fish, grilled chicken, etc. Lastly, they had a SALSA BAR, similar to Moe's, but better! They had a wide range of unlimited salsas and sauces to go on your entree. Because of these options, this place was my favorite Mexican restaurant in the city. Now, however, my opinion has changed for the worse. Imagine my disappointment when I came to this restaurant this week, and learned that they now function like a regular, smegular Mexican restaurant where the host has to seat you at a table, you get a tiny portion of salsa and chips, and have to choose from preselected menu options such as a boring plate of nachos for $20 that you have to pay extra for if you want it "deluxe"... it's absolutely ridiculous. There are enough Mexican restaurants in Mobile that offer that. What I liked about this place was that it was a different concept, and allowed you to have your meal YOUR way. If costs were the issue, I would've been ok with the price increasing to keep the menu the same. Now that this functions as a regular Mexican restaurant, why would I choose it over the others??? The good things I can say about this place, is that the food is not as flavorful, but still good, the wait staff is pleasant, and the ambiance is pretty cool. Pros: Food was delicious. I ordered a Taco Fajita Salad. It was full of shrimp, chicken and steak. It came with sour cream and fresh guacamole. Delish. The service was very good. Very polite and attentive servers. Seems clean and the ambiance is nice. Cons: The margarita flight was very limey. All the flavors tasted the same. I asked for clean silverware twice and it was not clean. I ate with a plastic fork. A gnat landed in my margarita. It was replaced immediately. But I had to fight it off from another gnat. read more

What a great experience! Wow where to START!?! From ordering to food arrival MAY have been 5 mins max it was SO FAST. The booth was very clean and so spacious. The food??? FRESH. FLAVORFUL. Large portions! The chicken was actually JUICY and not overcooked/dry like some other places. The workers are all so polite. And I love the salsa bar! (Tried the avocado, verde and chipotle salsa) The ONLY thing I wish this place had was a drink dispenser station with aguas frescas instead of the usual soda fountain. We have been waiting for this New Mexican restaurant to Open where a Mellow Mushroom pizza place was. First of all the concept is a lot like Taco Mama - order at the counter and they bring it out - Beautiful interior with lots of TV's and booths - but I did miss the metal utensils and servers. Took my 2 children to eat an early dinner. My son ordered beef quesadilla only alacart got water to drink.. I had ground beef taco salad Sprite My daughter got chicken taco salad .. she ask for extra corn as well as I in the salad .. I ask for extra beef. This is all we ordered . Got our bill .. that tiny sauce cup filled w pieces of corn was $3.95 per sauce cup tiny little cup .. that little spoonful of ground beef was $6.00 My son quesadilla xs 2 was $23.00 They didn't tell him if you order them w meat it charges you extra $12:00 verses the cheese one was $11:95 remember this was with NO sides ! It was in tiny writing on the menu. Oh we ask for a side of sour cream .. those tiny sides of sour cream were $4.00 per cup. Our bill was $80.00!!! Never again. Well, just not a great night here. Arrived a little late I guess around 730 on a Friday. Mrs Pug pointed out parking lot was empty, the other two Mexican oriented spots we normally visit were packed which is why we ventured here. Always looking for an adventure a new favorite spot, this was neither. We entered an almost empty warehouse and after a little looking around a fella from behind the bar asked if we had been there before. We let him know we hadn't, and he explained "it is like Taco Mamma". Having never been there it really didn't help me any and I wondered why he would promote what I expect is a competitor. I assume that means we order at the register, grab our own beverages from the soda fountain, and have a seat. Oddly the drink cups were those little clear plastic go cups from most dive bars. Food was brought out, spouse had steak fajitas and I the steak fajita nachos. Food was mediocre and a little over done so steak was dry on nachos. better on fajitas. How did I come up with one? Well on a scale of 1-5 a 3 is where I start and I either add or subtract along the way. This was a 3 with a deduct for bland dry food. Nothing to add for so that's that, And then it happened! OMG!!! I thought I might not recover. It was late in the day Saturday before my intestinal situation resumed to normal. So bland, dry, Mexican style food served like fast food and then it assaulted me for hours. With that I feel my 1 is being generous. Perhaps lunch would be a better option, but since we spent over $50 bucks for this experience, I really can't afford to come back for a bit. Finally got a chance to to try this restaurant. Doesn't have an extensive menu and I've only tried their tacos so far. I love their Mexican style tacos! A refreshing change from all the other Mexican restaurants that pile on so much cheese that's all you taste. Friends had the burritos and they had no complaints. They have a condiment bar with various kinds of sauces and salsas. Yum!! Looking forward to my next visit, although I love the tacos so much it may take a few visits before I try something new. read more
