My new favorite restaurant!…read more We parked in the garage just down the street, took the elevator to the first floor . We had reservations at 8pm on Saturday and they sat us right away. We ordered: Potato croquettes -crispy on the outside and delicious on the inside Beef cheek empanadas -flavorful shredded mean and a flaky delicious puff pastry Cold sweet potatoes- delicious with olive oil Shrimp in lemon- fresh shrimp in amazing sauce Chorizo with potatoes- absolutely amazing Table bread- warm delicious with the best tasting olive oil I've ever had We finished our meal with cheesecake and flan. The cheesecake was delicious, but I was disappointed in the flan. It was watery and the custard was not creamy enough This place is incredible, you can come over and over and never eat the same thing twice. Will definitely be back soon!

The first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful interior space. The ambience and the service were also phenomenal. Friendly staff, from the host, to our server Ray, everything was exceptional! I love that the space offers a more cozy and intimate vibe rather than a grand luxe upscale feeling. It's a place where friends can gather who haven't connected in awhile, or going on an impromptu date night with your boo. Either way, the Spanish tapas style and shareable plate perfectly compliments any occasion! I absolutely loved Ray and his recommendations! I wanted a Spanish wine and I sampled two and picked one and it was easy on the palate! Had a little carbonation but matched the dishes well. - B'Stilla : some type of chicken pie in a phyllo paper! I didn't try this but everyone else seemed to love it! - Ensalada de tomate: refreshing, not a fan of the bread that comes with it though. Just didn't enhance the plate! - Croquetas de patatas *favorite of the night! - Calamares al frito...lightly crispy on the outside and super soft pulpo on the inside! - Almejas el faro And of course the maragarita, the Spanish beer, and the Spanish wine and Rose wine were all 5/5! I highly recommend the Spanish white wine and the Spanish beer!

Talking with our waiter, apparently Oporto was the unofficial hang out for the Portuguese World Cup fans. Oporto offers both a lunch and dinner Restaurant Weeks menu at lunch. My wife and I opted for the dinner menu. Everything we had was outstanding and eye opening. We started with the cod croquets and goat cheese in tomato basil sauce with toast. Both were wonderful! For the main course we had the Beef Portuguese, a marinated beef cutlet with eggs and potatoes. Also, the Goan Fish Curry. Goa was a Portuguese colony so if you like Indian food, you will love this. The fish curry was our favorite. The deserts were also very good, but to be honest, we were pretty full by then. We also had an outstanding Portuguese Duro red wine with the meal. To sum up, great food, great service and a beautiful little restaurant. If you go to Oproto for lunch after RW they have an interesting looking lunch special they call the "Portuguese Power Lunch" that is a $30 fixed price meal. (Not available during Restaurant Weeks.) There is metered street parking. However, we found that there is also parking for the restaurant in the building next door. For lunch, at least, the parking is free.

My prego sandwich was pretty traditional and I added an egg only complaint was I wish the egg yolk was runny. I had another experience at this restaurant on a Sunday and they were missing many ingredients (try to keep thing fresh and not frozen) which was a bit frustrating but the quality of food and service was much worse than the first time, hence the 3 star rating.

FANTASTIC Houston Restaurant Week Experience- Dinner @ $55/person. 2 hour session, 4courses…read more Watch out: Policy and HRW website says 20% auto gratuities included for groups of 6+ but my party of 2 included 20% gratuity... shady, but I didn't want to make a scene. Just keep an eye. This did cost a star. Book a special location for a date night and this place delivered. Well paced, knowledgeable and attentive service. They have an interesting interior design that is futuristic, experimental, and full of unique space themed and illusionary art. The bathrooms are also extremely cool and have a very well-known mirror Hall! The food was a fantastic experience . It was much appreciated that the Houston restaurant menu was very clear that the appetizer was one piece so we didn't feel misled. We were surprised by the size of the paella!! Course 1: Bites. The crispiest exterior of what I could only describe as a thinly fried croquette with melt in your mouth mashed potatoes and Iberico ham. Delicate, but a flavor bomb- great warm-up. Course 2: Seafood. Decided on a Tuna Tartare and MEJILLONES (Mussels). The muscles came in this creamy, slightly lemony sauce that paired so well with a fresh sourdough bread served at the table. Tartare was standard, well plated, and well done. Course 3: Entree Got a full Paella Valencia with 6oz Octopus/Pulpo, and a Filet Mignon. Presentation of the paella was gorgeous, with decadent spice, saffron rice, juicy and crisp, sugar snap, peas, and tomatoes, with the most tender octopus I've ever had, second only to a fresh octopus off the Grecian Coast. It was so filling I could not finish it; worth coming back for this dish. The filet mignon was done excellently, but it is a standard cut of meat. The stand out is the potato side dish it is served with, which is like a light almost, pudding like consistency, but it is full of flavor. Course 4: Dessert Order the gypsy arm and flan. The gypsy was very similar to a roll cake, but has a crème brûlée finish. The cold cream contrast with the roll and harden sugar exterior so decadently. Flan was well flavored, berries were a bit tart but otherwise, gypsy arm is the dessert to go to. Fantastic dining experience. Would love to return and try more of the menu, superb Spanish cuisine.

I guess the server knows that tips were already included so he didn't care much on not having his tips. We even to serve our own water on a few times during the service because he left a pitcher in a corner of the room but didn't come back and check on how we are doing and of course not refilling the water. Reservation was clearly mentioned that we come to celebrate a birthday. The bussers did a way better job than the server himself. The restaurant ambiance is nice and food was good but the lack of service made it a bit less enjoyable

The servers are dressed in flight attendant uniforms and the decor is all related to a flight to a far away land. We learned from Jennifer, our "attendant," that the flight theme comes from wine flights. The wine bar started in a very small area serving wine flights. They grew to the location they are in now. The aesthetic, the food and the music will make you forget you're in Texas. As soon as we walked in, the owner, Thomas appeared from nowhere greeting us and asking about our day. He took time to listen and introduce himself to us. He escorted us to a quaint area with a love seat and chairs so we could take in the entire restaurant. The setting of the restaurant has tables, couches or loungers and a bar that is both inside and out. We enjoyed a cheese and olive tray which paired perfectly with our wine. I enjoyed a glass of Bilo Idro (similar to a Chenin Blanc) and my husband enjoyed a glass of Clos Pissarra (similar to a red blend). Before we left, Jennifer gave us a taste of her favorite white wine as our parting gift in hopes we will return soon. Listen. When I say we will be back. We will be back. I just found my favorite wine and book spot!!!

They informed me they were going to an maje paella. I of course replied, 'I'm in!' My wife and kids inside, we were seated in an empty dining room and immediately informed of the number of reservations the restaurant was expecting, followed by a firm notice that our table would need to be turned within an hour and a half. She went on to inform us of how busy they expected to be that day. This was communicated before we were offered a wine menu, water, or any standard welcome. If I were looking to buy in or invest, it would be fine to discuss the ebb and flow of business but we wanted just to try a new place. I understand that reservation management is part of running a successful restaurant, but how that information is delivered matters a great deal. Leading with constraints rather than hospitality sets an uncomfortable tone -- particularly in a room with empty tables. A simple acknowledgment of the time window after seating, paired with the wine list and a warm greeting, would have made the same operational point without making guests feel like an inconvenience. Ultimately, we decided not to disrupt the reservations and spend our day elsewhere. I would encourage management to revisit front-of-house training. The first ninety seconds of a guest's experience shapes the entire meal, and prioritizing efficiency over welcome undermines whatever the kitchen has to offer. My prediction; less than two years this place will be up for lease.

An Exceptional Dining Experience That Feels Like Escaping Houston…read moreFrom the moment I arrived at BCM Taste & Tradition, I knew this was going to be a different kind of dining experience. I originally noticed that Houston Restaurant Week reservations were completely booked through September, but I decided to stop by around opening to see if there was any availability. Thankfully, the hostess was incredibly gracious and accommodating and was able to fit me in before the restaurant became fully booked. I genuinely appreciated the hospitality because it gave me the opportunity to experience what turned out to be one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had in Houston. The food was exceptional. I tried the ink rice with shrimp, which was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The dessert was equally impressive--honestly, to die for. It was the kind of meal where every course feels intentional and thoughtfully executed. The service deserves its own recognition. Javair at the bar was phenomenal--professional, attentive, and personable without ever being intrusive. We had some great conversation, and he even shared some fascinating details about the artwork throughout the restaurant. Learning that some of the pieces displayed were original Picassos was an incredible surprise and added another layer of sophistication to the experience. And then there's the ambiance. BCM Taste & Tradition genuinely feels like stepping outside of Houston without ever leaving the city. The interior, artwork, music, and overall atmosphere create something incredibly refined and intimate. The live music was especially beautiful--calm, serene, and perfectly suited to the setting. It created an atmosphere where you could actually slow down, enjoy your surroundings, and be present in the moment. This is more than just a restaurant. It feels like an experience curated around food, art, music, and hospitality. From the gracious hostess to the exceptional service, memorable food, stunning artwork, and serene atmosphere, BCM Taste & Tradition absolutely earned every one of these five stars. I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself. This is the kind of place you remember long after the meal is over.

The bar is the first thing you see when you walk in. We got sat right away so I didn't get to see much of the place but you couldn't really walk around if you wanted to anyways. The ambience at the bar was nice and the staff were great. I did think there would be more decor around but I would describe the vibe as simple and modern. An improvement could be to have purse hooks. We were immediately given the HRW menu (which we were intentionally there for) but we weren't given a regular menu to see what food they offered normally which I was hoping to see. The menu I would say was well rounded with options to upgrade. They also gave us a slice of bread with oil and salt. I ordered the shrimp for my first course which was an upgrade. I will say this was the most bang for my buck. The serving came with a good helping of shrimp. My friend ordered the patatas bravas. Both orders tasted nice but I think I was hoping for something more with the potatoes. They also gave us the croquetas which were really yummy. My second course was the filet mignon. The steak was cooked to my liking and I felt was a decent serving size. It came with snap peas, pearl onions, and mashed potatoes. My friend got the duck. This was cooked well and was really tasty but there wasn't much with it besides the sauce. Final course was dessert. We got the lemon tart and the sponge cake. The lemon tart was probably the best thing I ate that night. The custard and the fruit really complement each other. The sponge cake was interesting since it was hollow inside with the cream being most of the dessert, it was good. They also gave us some dessert wine which was nice. Overall everything was really good and had no complaints but I do think because of how much people talk about this place and it being a Michelin star restaurant I was expecting to be blown away. My takeaway is that it was a good experience but probably just a one time thing.

Our server was checking in on us very frequently and she explained the menu to us when we told her we hadn't been before. The manager on duty also had stopped by and introduced herself. They told us up front that tapas would be able to be out quickly with only up to a 10 minute wait but that larger plates could be up to a 45 minute wait. We ordered several tapas and one large plate half order. I don't know much about wine, personally, but the drinks we did get were amazing. The restaurant itself was very pretty as well, lots of natural lighting and then low lighting as the sun went down. The music was low and we were able to hear each other well, apart from one group across the room that would get rowdy but I can't blame them for having a good time. Our food was all delicious and I forgot to take pics of some of them because we devoured them so quickly. Not pictured, we ordered the grilled asparagus and focaccia. I highly recommend all of what we ordered.
