    I'm glad I found this place on yelp! I'm always down for some good street food and as soon as our driver Ernie gave us his thumbs up, I was game to try El Chupacabra! AMBIANCE: Don't let the entryway deceive you thinking it might discourage you. True, it isn't the most inviting compared to the competition across the street. But the further you go in, the second you try their tacos, with your bucket of beers on the side, good laughs, and your squad to make the night, it's all worth it! FOOD: Try the Lord of the Wings if you crave for something spicy. Their tacos share a mild twist of California and Filipino swag; referring of course to their goat and sisig tacos. But the Al Pastor and Crispy Fish tacos are the best thus far! I was curious about their Mexican chili dogs as well (but I'll probably save that for another go at Chupacabra ;). DRINKS: For tequila drinkers, the menu is pretty limited to Patron and 1800 mostly, although they do at least have their silver, reposado, and añejo selection. Beer Buckets are 300 pesos for 6. And their sangria I heard are quite good as well. If it's decent Mexican food you're looking for dive in to satisfy your cravings. Unlike the usual cheerful taco joint you'd come upon, this one is right for a late night grub.

    You get what you paid for! Not too expensive yet not too cheap! I used to always bring my friends here whenever they visit me in Makati. Their satay skewers and soft-shelled carne asada tacos are must try. I also love their cocktails, especially the Long Island!

    This is the best dive resto bar you'll never forget. Cheap beers all day and all night and absolutely the best street tacos in Makati. Can sit right on the street or my favorite place is in the back bar area! AC on hot humid nights. My favorites dishes are: Mexican Style al Pastor taco. Filipino Style the Sisig and Adobo tacos. Or get some nachos to share and be happy. They need to make out Carne Asada fries on the menu and make it complete! Until then, explore the menu. It's not super cheap, but it won't break your wallet.

    Refreshingly good cantina for Mexican food and drink in Manila. Visiting the Philippines and had just made a comment about the seeming lack of Mexican food options here (only notable due to the wide variety of food options in Manila, which is diverse... so the absence stood out to me). Anyway, love and behold, while chatting with my taxi driver, he had recommended El Chupacabra to me, as it was near my hotel (I love a good dive bar), so I decided to check it out. Focusing on the staples of a good street vendor, the menu has several different and cheap (price, not quality) tacos as well as burritos. Other options are available, but the tacos and burritos are what they do best. I had the Pollo Asado Burrito, as I was hungry and wanted a little more substance. With grilled chicken, refried beans, Mexican rice and sauces/spices, the dish was very good. I also tried their signature cocktail, La Chupadita, which reminded me of a Long Island ice tea with more fruit flavor (maybe mango, or something else citrusy). Definitely a haunt to bring a group of friends and just hang out. Recommended.

    El Chupacabra is basically a really crowded Mexican dive bar. It's the sister company of Mexicali, a local very cheap fast food Mexican joint. I've been there a few times and aside from being cheap, I don't really get what the fuss is about. It's located near the strip clubs on Makati Ave. That charge high prices for the "scenery", so compared to them Chupacabra is a really great deal. Cheap beer & cheap food. But the quality matches the cheapness. Take their " beef" nachos. It's about 10 tortilla chips on a 6 inch plate with some canned cheese, lots of beans, maybe a teaspoon of beef and some green sauce that I think is supposed to be guacamole but is fully pureed and kind of scary. The quesadillas similarly are almost all tortilla. Very little filling and almost no meat. We tried a Latin Burger and watched as a kitchen staff walked last our table with a plastic bag of burger buns 10 minutes later. Did they have to go out and buy them from a nearby grocery? Or borrow from another restaurant? The resulting burger wasn't bad, but was just unremarkable. Cheap bun. Overcooked patty. Cheap cheese. A couple tiny 1 inch tomato slices & a few onions. The focus seems to be on street styles tacos. These have double corn tortillas with meat, onions and maybe cilantro. It was hard to tell. They recommended the sisig taco which we expected to be a bit crispy. There was zero crispiness, but super spicy. If you love squishy and spicy you might like it. The overall look of the place is cheap & dirty dive bar style. Tables around us were filled with dirty plates, glasses & half eaten pizza. Tables are about 6 inches apart from each other. They have an open air smoking section in front and a hidden air conditioned area in back. Noise levels are super loud with all hard surfaces so its very hard to hear who you're with. Honestly there are much better Mexican options nearby: Chihuahua used to be good, but they recently converted to a Texas style smokehouse. Army Navy has a branch nearby. They're also cheap and are more fast food. The quality and taste us better. But its fast food ambiance, not a bar. Agave Mexican Cantina has a small branch named Andale open in Century City mall about a 5 minute walk away. They also have full service and a bar scene with margaritas and beer promos. Their ambiance is quieter, they're more service focussed and the food is much much better. Basically it comes down to what you're looking for. If you want fast Mexican, then go for Army Navy. If you want good food and higher quality (albeit with higher prices) then go to Andale. And if you want a cheap noisy Mexican dive bar then go to El Chupacabra. If you're drunk enough, the food is probably passable.

    Tacos al pastor, patacones, sangria, what more could a mexican food junkie ask for? El Chupacabra is the perfect place to spend a friday night with friends, swilling beer and chowing down on plates of delicious tacos. And best of all? It's incredibly affordable - I can usually get two tacos out of one serving, since they come with two tortillas. If you have a big group, come before 7pm, or you'll be standing on the street, staring longingly at patrons lingering over their bottles of san mig. Chupacabra employees do a good job of crowd control though, and they'll bring out folding tables if they have any left. Cheap, delicious Mexican food, served in a no frills setting, but with tons of ambiance? Yes, I'll be back

    El Chupacabra started the whole food craze in Poblacion. El Chupacabra showed Makati that's it's okay to set up tables on the street, to not have aircon, to be a bit grungy, AS LONG AS YOUR FOOD IS INCREDIBLE. Yes, El Chupacabra showed Makati how it's done, and now we have an entirely new food culture in Makati's tourist belt that just makes the entire neighborhood so much nicer for it. I'll credit restaurants like El Chups (And Silantro and Tacos Chingones) for bringing in REAL tacos to Manila. Of course order street tacos when you're here, but you can't go wrong with the lean sisig as well. Food hack #1: Order the lean sisig, then order some extra tortilla wraps = cheaper street tacos Food hack #2: Order their big shot of rum (P35), then order a coke = Rum coke for two.

    I may be a little bit biased, but I am a HUGE fan of El Chupacabra. From its inception in 2012, I've seen it grow by leaps and bounds, and am definitely one of its most enthusiastic cheerleaders. Anyone who knows me can attest to this. Hipster though it might sound, I was going to El Chupacabra back when there would only be three or four people dining there. Under the same umbrella group as Mexicali, El Chupacabra is decidedly more Mex than Tex, and was the pioneer in bringing dirty street tacos to Manila - an idea that most Pinoy diners latched on to immediately, and with great reason. The only drawback I can see about it is that getting a table is still a bit of a stretch (because EVERYONE wants in), but the moment I sink my teeth into my well-deserved Tacos Al Pastor (two orders, please! Y cerveza, por favor!), I forget all the stress of waiting because it is totally worth it. Sometimes, when the owner is there, one of the waiters goes around and clangs a gong, which means it's time for free shots! Always a good time at El Chupacabra, one of my favorite WilliamsBurgos haunts, for sure.

    El Chupacabra has been one of the most admirable success stories in the local restaurant business. Take a "gasgas" idea, turn it on its head, inject it with a lot of authenticity and good research, couple it with stellar product and recipe development, and put it in an attractive package, and you have for yourself a good street-side restaurant that people still line up for. Several months back, before the opening of the nearby Senor Pollo and Tambai, it used to be impossible to get a table here during busy nights. There would be a long queue to the street. That's how big El Chupacabra was. What I love about this place is that they actually introduced the idea of authentic street tacos to Manilenyos. Our idea of Mexican food used to be fat burritos loaded with all sorts of ingredients, and nachos topped with all kinds of meat and vegetables. For purists, those are all Tex-Mex that have somehow been rebranded as traditional and authentic Mexican fare. No. Just no. The soft tacos, for instance, is the only way to do it in Mexico. Two pieces of soft tortilla, topped with filling, and boom, into your mouth. The food is good, hearty and well-seasoned. It could be a lot cheaper, but hey, the quality is great, and it's something that i would go back for every now and then. I love the Baja California fish tacos, downed with the highly lethal La Chupadita, their mysterious mix of liquors and spirits that always, always gets me really tipsy.

Situated in a nondescript warehouse in a less glamorous part of Makati is probably one of the coolest speakeasies I've been to in the Metro. The ambiance is dark, moody even, and they play a lot of progressive electro house most times I've been there. This isn't your typical bar where the standards are available and the bartender looks like your dad's pare. The bartenders here are definitely serious mixologists and there's no drink here I haven't enjoyed. There's a good selection of imported beers here, though I would like to see more local filipino craft here since the only local beer option is San Miguel Extra Dry unfortunately. Come here to chill with friends and let off some steam. They also offer food selections from their other neighbor, Joe's Meat Shack. If I'm not looking to go crazy on my few nights off and I'm looking for some straight chill, Finders Keepers is definitely a keeper for me.

In fact, when I was taking a photo of this sign, I was part of a firing range of people along the bar trying to get the same shot. It's hard not to. Statemently emblazoned in orange-red on the wall of this dimly-lit room in a warehouse hidden from mainstream Makati (to some, the all-encompassing word to describe the place may be "hipster"), it is a sign of things to find and keep: good music (from rock to electro to even jazz on Sundays), good vibe, good cocktails (love their F+K Sour!), good company, good times!

I don't think I'd order it again but the cold Pale Pilsen is Php60 which is the normal price for this part of Makati. I know they have Happy Hour and thus, buy one take one on local beers but it's nowhere near lunch time. I was able to try a limited edition burger with slabs of bacon by Mr. Delicious, chargrilled oyster mushrooms from the Perfect Mushroom and handmade bread by Trigo with a slice of melting emmental cheese. A bit pricey at around Php 400 but mouthwatering nonetheless with quality ingredients. Paired with Craftpoint's craft beers, which they now carry, you'll have a dinner to remember.

So we read on few blogs, found out about Global Beer Exchange and decided its the way to go. Global Beer Exchange is a beer disneyland. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a delight for beer aficionados and enthusiasts. Belgian, North American, Japanese & Californian beers can be tasted here. They even have beers on draft. They also carry Katipunan craft ales, a local brand, like their Dear Fred and Indio. There's so many that we asked the staff to give suggestions on what to drink. Lucky for us, Global Beer Exchange is probably just 5 minutes away from everyone's home. See, the best thing about Magallanes is probably that it's right in the middle from everyone. Yes, Quezon City is quite far, but South people (at least my friends from the south) usually won't go past the Fort area. And a few don't want to meet in Fort, especially on weekends, because parking is difficult and every club and bar is jam packed with yuppies and younglings. Global Beer Exchange may have beers that would cost you 700 pesos, but you just need to look carefully. Though its main market is for beer enthusiasts, you don't really have to be one to enjoy the beer. Just be smart and not order a Heineken or Stella or other beers that you can easily buy in the grocery store. I mean, hello? This is GLOBAL Beer Exchange. They carry beers from all around the world. Beers you probably haven't heard of yet and you're going to order a regular non-craft beer? Be adventurous and try something new. Bring a couple of friends, order different beers each and just do some beer tasting. Food isn't anything great so make sure that you'll be drinking here before or after you eat. Or you can bring some snacks, to munch on. Make sure to ask permission from the bar first though!

With all fairness, this little place is pretty awesome as their Chuck Berry Apple Pie. I never leave Exile without ordering that mouthwatering sumb'ch. And this might sound weird, but I especially enjoy that with a glass of ice cold apple-flavored beer. A perfect way to wrap up a chill night. Huh? I just really wish that Exile has longer business hours. I mean, I know most of their market are students who has classes the next day, but my friends and I barely meet-up anymore, and the time we have is either weekends (that we actually would use up to slack off because we're too tired to do a thing) or after work hours (which is much more ideal, because the day's hype usually extends up to like 3 AM). It's always a bummer whenever Exile closes on us.

In one of the corners of Cubao X is where you'll bump into all these characters at Fred's Revolucion. This dive bar of sorts is a colorfully and revolutionary decorated bar with nothing fancy, just drinks and the sound of people. Come drop by with a group of friends and you'll be surprised how fast time will fly and how many conversations you'll hear and overhear. It's got great character to it and a story-worthy ambiance. My friends and I have come by here a few times and each time we lost ourselves in the moment. I love how this place is super different from the bars you find in the Makati area, it's got that something different you don't find too often.

The staff is very pleasant (bartenders are always happy to chitchat with you) and their drinks are ridiculously cheap compared to that of bars in BGC and Makati. Try their Frozen Margarita, Bagnet, and Fish and Chips. I swear on the next Star Wars movie, you're gonna love them.

I'm not really familiar with Mexican food but for some reason, by the looks of it, I had a feeling that I might enjoy this one. The Chalupa, their main product, looked a lot like a taco but bold prints on one of their signage clearly emphasized that it's not. I ordered their Beef Chalupa which contained beef (duh), veggies, cheese and other good stuff. You can even choose to put their special homemade hot sauce especially formulated to competent the soft pita-like chalupa. So if you're a fan of tacos and nachos with all the meat and special, you should definitely give this one a shot. You won't regret it. I didn't. Note: Say Chipotle (chi-pot-lei)

I first saw a stall of theirs at SM Hypermart (but I think that closed down), we wanted something different from our usual merienda (fresh lumpia, potato corner, pizza ollo, etc) beside the nearby stalls. I was so happy to have found it at the megamall food court, they also carry the iced tea brand All My Tea and it goes so well with their cheesy beef chipotle, for chicken lovers, you can opt to have chicken chipotle instead, both taste super good anyway). What amazes me too is that the customers get to see how they prepare the dough, sprinkling flour over it and then dipping it into the fryer. Such an interesting process and it's always nice to know how my food is being (safely) cooked.
