Since Z opened earlier this year, and since my visits from just a month ago, the hostel's roof deck and main attraction has undergone some changes. For one, you need to register at the lobby for your RFID bracelet - a preloaded wrist band for your bar purchases. The minimum credit is 150 pesos and I think there's a 50-peso deposit too. The deposit is refundable. Another thing that has changed is their beer price. From 50 pesos, it's now 75. Boo :( but totally understandable; the guys need to make a profit, plus the demand is getting really high with their nightly full house events.
Anyway, in case you haven't already heard, Z Hostel's roof deck is pretty cool. Situated on the seventh floor of what used to be a brothel, it has a lot of character and an awesome view of the surrounding cities' skyline. It's no 71 Gramercy, but that's why people go there. Dressed down or up, Z has a welcoming vibe that allows you to chill.
There's usually a DJ or a live acoustic act taking care of entertainment. Try the adobo flakes with rice, you won't regret it! Don't feed Elle, even if she begs. Bring a friend or two, or heck, make one. It's a hostel with transient guests everyday, so have a taste of international and local cultures all in one night. read more
