Getting the tortilla chips fix!
Janella Marie I.

This is one Chili's branch whose unlimited Tortilla chips we've exploited countless times. (Ssh! Life is hard, okay). Everyone is probably familiar with the mouthwatering creations of guilty pleasure Mexican food in this restaurant, so I wouldn't bore you with those. I just want to share something "naughty" we did for a friend's despedida dinner and how Chili's staff went with it like the cool bunch that they are! Usually, restaurant servers sing birthday celebrants a Happy birthday song and give them a dessert on the house. The thing was--it wasn't my friend's birthday back then. We just decided it should be. Giggling and almost obviously lying about it, we told them to "take care of it". So yes, the Happy Birthday song happened, and a free ice cream desert we had! I'm not saying you should do this at just about every restaurant. You shouldn't. It's just that my friend was leaving for her homeland, and doing that for her was a memory we would all cherish and laugh about, even thirty years from now. And you know what? I think Chili's staff knew it was a play all along since we couldn't stay put, but they did it anyway, because they sensed that the gathering would've been our last in perhaps years. It really made the restaurant awesomer to me than it had been! It kinda gives me the shiggles everytime I'm here, really.

Let us take a moment to realize how much I love Latin American foods so amen to all restaurants who serve fantastic Latin-American foods with an international twist! ' Though Chili's is well-known to be the place with oh so good margheritas, their food is also worth coming back for. Serving a mix of Latin American fusion and inspiration from other cuisines, Chili's will keep your belly happy with generous servings of their appetizers: Nachos, Texas Cheese Fries, Wings over Buffalo and a lot more which you can choose to combine in one platter, for a smaller price. If after that you are still a bit hungry, have some of their fajitas, coupled with their bestselling Frozen Top Shelf Strawberry-mango Flavored Margarita.

My sister's medium boneless ribeye came out more rare than my medium rare and she finally had to settle for ribs! Which were actually edible. Biggest problem was the cutlery! The serrated steak knives were so dull and bent, you couldn't even cut a tender steak if you got one. If you can't even give your customers a decent knife, don't complain when they send back a steak. I give the manager credit for apologizing and doing what she could but Expats beware. If you're craving a good steak, save your $ and go to Wolfgang's. I understand that things are different here in the PI. I'm amazed that there is so much variety among restaurants. But it is not the fault of the locals when the restaurant company gives them cheap tools and products just to cut costs! Bad cooking is something else, though. A horrible experience at a Mesa restaurant actually made my wife go back in the kitchen and show the chef in training how to make adobo! Overall, I love the PI and the local cuisine. I think I'll stick to the chain restaurants that I know for certain are consistent.

Their newly-refurbished bistro and bar at its old Glorietta site overlooking the Park has been my favorite spot in the Ayala area since like, forever, and I go there with my friends whenever we would like to go for a filling dinner and some drinks. As with any Bistro Group restaurant, what is admirable about TGI Fridays is their huge servings. The food is enough to be shared with an entire table, and most of the time, the servings have lots of fixings, like salad and fries so that you can stretch it and really get the most value out of your money. The food is a bit pricey, but it's a price I would gladly pay for great quality and consistency. TGI Fridays for me has that awesome, homey feel that makes it easily likable, like your friendly neighborhood diner. Throughout the years, TGI Fridays has maintained its great quality for me, and it has become such a great place to just chill and eat and drink. Their menu also innovates every now and then, and they add new selections to their already impressive selection of bistro favorites. The bar also whips up some great cocktails , especially their all-you-can-drink mojitos. They say TGI Fridays invented the Happy Hour, and they do a really good happy hour selection of refreshing cocktails.

Plus, who doesn't love Bacon? Seriously. The place is small and cramped. There are a couple of high stools and three small tables under the "Long Live Bacon" sign. If you need to use the comfort room, you have to enter the secret room called ABV. It's a speakeasy and I will definitely talk about it more in another review. The food here is perfect for after a long night of drinking with friends. They offer a breakfast menu where you can customize your own plate. Want a bacon and egg sandwich made with 2 waffles? Go for it! But, in my opinion, the definite Must Try here are their Hotdogs! All their hotdogs are bacon-wrapped and deep fried! YUM! I recommend the Chili Dog (Php220) and the Kimchi Dog (Php190). Next time, I will have to try their Tater Bombs (bacon-wrapped potato tots)! But, it's always sold out when I arrive! Huhu! I can't wait to see what Lazy Bastard will "baconify" next! :D

I heard about hotdogs sold at Php 100 but never at these prices. My siblings and I decided to be adventurous and tried their hotdogs anyway. It was in Jupiter street and we found parking around the area. We saw their big sign that said "Bacon & Burgers this way". When I took a bite of their hotdog, I was enlightened. I tasted the hotdog sandwich's full potential. I experienced Lazy Bastard's BACON WRAPPED hotdog in a bun and topped with a load of toppings. I particularly found their Con carne and parmesan hotdog sandwich to be their bestest. On my next visit, I'm planning to try their AVOCADOG. On the other hand, I found their burger to be okay.

One night, we passed by it and saw that we beat everyone out of their offices and got to the area early. We parked immediately and soaked the glory in for a bit before entering. I personally liked the feel of the place because it was casual but homey at the same time, without being cheesy. With statement posters adorning the walls and chalkboards advertising their specials, I knew I was going to like it here. We decided to share an order of their super duo which had ribs for two and a choice of two side dishes. I was happy to see that they offered spinach as a siding so I got that, while my dad ordered their spiced rice. Goodness gracious, it was good! The meat was tender, almost falling off the bone and their sauce is really good, a good balance of tangy, sweet and smokey flavor. While my Dad got their brewed iced tea, as drink and dessert, I got their chocolate shake which I enjoyed not just because of the taste, but also because of the candy sprinkles and marshmallow toppings. I wouldn't mind a good rub and ribs at Rub Ribs anytime soon.

Boneless Buffalo Wild Wings and Boneless Buffalo Chicken Salad were equally tasty but I'm more on the first one for the spice and bleu cheese. Kids seem to love the sinfully tasty American food consisted of burgers, nachos, fries, wings and the like. Admittedly, I celebrated my 20th birthday here a long time ago. What makes it perfect for parties is the lively feel of the place and the large portions of food making it good for sharing. The classic nachos have just the right amount of cheese, jalapeños, beans, beef, guacamole and sour cream dip. Just thinking about it makes me crave for it! There is also the popular choice of wings over buffalo that most kids and adults get. Kids dont mind getting their hands messy! Since the food can be on the heavy side, the fajitas would be a good choice for something healthier compared to everything else. But savs some space for dessert because you MUST try the High and Mighty pie. It's sinful, it's sweet but so worth every calorie.
