    Chicharrones en salsa roja
    Howard L.

Still amazing. So much happiness wrapped up in between a couple of tortilla. Come in and get down.

    Catchy name nice.

Place is ok. The price for the plate was too much for the portion given. We ordered menudo had a great taste and good portion.

Watered down food looks more like soup

I chose this place because it had average rating I got here staff was nice and good customer service. The food is very bad the horchata I ordered had too much ice and was watered down as well even the salsa is watered down !!!!!! I literally felt robbed didn't get any sort of value for the 15$ I paid overall it was like 2$ of food and was terrible ! Please save yourself the headache and go somewhere more reputable...

The birria plate was really good. So are their rice and beans and I'm picky when it comes to how rice and beans are made since every restaurant is different. I also have tried their menudo and is a 10/10. Good customer service the cook and lady that is the cashier are really nice people. Not a lot of people go here and they should especially during this time of COVID . Help support small businesses !!

My wife has been coming here for years, looks family owned and I recommend the chicken nachos here. They were recommended to me and they are delicious!

Cochinita Pibil: When you unwrap the banana leaves, the prize is the pork shoulder that has been smoked for 12 hours. Grab some of the insanely tender pork with the warm and supple blue corn tortillas. Add some achiote-sour orange braising juice, pickled onions and watermelon radishes. Top it with the avocado puree and salsas. Also add some black charred habanero sauce, whose fiery heat puts this dish over the top. Pulpo al Guajillo: The grilled octopus is lightly charred and crispy, and nice and meaty on the inside. The garbanzo bean puree is like the smoothest creamiest hummus. The diced chayote is similar to young potatoes with a little crunch. Crumbled red chorizo enhances the savoriness of the ingredients. And the hoja santa gremolata is a medley of green herbal flavors. Ceviche Campeche: The cubes of striped bass and octopus are delicate and soft, combined with yellow and red cherry tomatoes, onions, cilantro, scoops of avocado, avocado mousse, cucumber, watermelon radish, and leche de tigre. The zing from the lime juice and the crunch of the blue tortillas makes for a perfect bite. Tamal Colado: This is a deconstructed tamal. The masa is molded into a slender rectangular block. The consistency of the masa is like pudding, just really soft and creamy. Chile braised lamb shank is placed on the masa. Then, an herby tangle of carrot tops and sorrel leaves go on top. On either side are clumps of crunchy cucumber-mint xni pek and silky hazelnut muhammara. Parrillada Yucatan: If you are still hungry, this mixed grill plate will do the job. The prime skirt steak is exquisitely cooked, so soft, moist, and tender. The smoked sausage has a wonderful flavor and is a little spicy. Pollo pibil has a dry rub of achiote and sour orange, and it gives a nice smoky kick. Chuuk Trio: This appetizer plate features sikil p'ak (a dip of pumpkin seeds), guacamole, and salsa. Dip the tortillas and light and crispy rinds into these dips.

The inside was decorated beautifully and there were plenty of tables for parties of any size. We tried many different things. The food tasted good but I personally felt that the dishes were more to the blander side. When asked if there was anything they offer for a birthday, we were just told by the staff plainly that this restaurant 'offers nothing complimentary' right in front of my family. That's fine, but on a whole atmosphere level, I won't be taking my family back here or recommending this place to my friends. There are better options close by.

It's all chopped. I do prefer fuller pieces, but the flavor and so much meat I was absolutely impressed. Everything tasted fresh. The shrimp was crunchy. Perfect amount of rice and beans. Great flavor and very authentic tasting was her comment. Now the street tacos flavor was good. But the chop meat was so fine I felt like a baby being fed steak. Bigger bites people! Having said that the flavor was still good. And wrap them so they don't fall apart in the packaging. Overall five stars! Super friendly service. Proving is fair for what I'm getting. They have the huitalacoche (corn fungus) quesadilla that I really enjoy as well as their pupusa loroco y queso. Trying out their Lengua taco and taco jaracho which I have been eyeing for a while. All their food is tasty, made fresh. All bursting with flavor. Salsa bar is probably one of my favorites having literally a salsa made for every kind of taste bud. Don't let the small restaurant deceive you. Small restaraunt but with bit flavors. The tortilla made with the quesadilla is nice and soft but with a good chew to it. Tastes like a homemade corn tortilla versus flour. The cheese is rich and has a wonderful pull to it. The lengua is extremely tender, little skimpy on meat portion, but overall good taco. The jarocho taco which is basically a shrimp taco on a cheese crusted tortilla is excellent. Service is what you would expect at a ma and pop shop. The cashier was patient enough to explain to me what a jarocho taco was and also spoke English which was nice for me. El Habanero is that kind of spot  the ultimate hidden gem. You walk in expecting a quick bite and somehow leave feeling like you discovered a secret the city has been quietly protecting. I ordered the carne asada torta and immediately realized this wasn't just a sandwich  this was architecture. The bread? Perfectly toasted, soft inside with just enough crisp to hold the universe together. It cradles everything like it knows how important its job is. Then the carne asada shows up  tender, juicy, smoky, and seasoned like someone's abuela personally supervised the grill. Every bite releases layers: char, citrus, salt, and warmth all hitting at once. The toppings don't just sit there either they collaborate. Creamy, fresh, bright, and balanced so the meat stays the star while everything else plays the perfect supporting role. The sauces? I'm convinced they bend time, because the torta disappears way faster than logic allows. This isn't just food  it's the kind of meal that makes you pause mid-bite and look around to see if anyone else realizes what just happened. El Habanero didn't just make a torta... they made a reason to come back.

The inside seats about 20 people or so, we were lucky enough to snag a booth. The line was pretty long but our tacos came out in a reasonable amount of time considering the number of people in the store. I got an incredible amount of cabeza, asada and pollo tacos. Cabeza was the clear best with asada in second. The pollo wasn't bad, just didn't compare to the others. Cabeza melts in your mouth and has excellent texture though the portion seems smaller than the other meats. We were told that there was no more green salsa which I was excited for, but right when we had finished devouring our tacos they brought out a fresh tray of verde which bummed me out a little. Tacos were delicious though, and at $1.50 a price for Taco Tuesday that's a great deal. I will definitely be back, hoping they have some verde ready to go next time.

The manager came out and wrote our order down so we did have to wait about 10 minutes... but they did their best and we appreciated the excellent service. We ordered a BRISKET BOWL $10.29, al pastor taco $2.29, Ensenada fish taco $2.89, asada taco $2.50, FISH BURRITO $11.80 + 1.50 extra for guac ~$13.50, and French fries $3. We were stuffed and our meal was only $35! The brisket bowl was surprisingly good- 4.5 stars. It was nice and smoky, and came with your choice of flour or corn tortillas. We got the flour, but once I unwrapped it from the foil, it was quite dry. The al pastor taco was okay, but very dry- 2.5 stars. The asada taco was not bad- a little dry but flavorful- 3.5 stars. The fish taco was good but not crispy. I would get it again for Taco Tuesday, but Rubio's is much better. The best item was the FISH BURRITO- 5 stars. The fish was tender and the filling was seasoned perfectly, and the added guac gave it soo much FLAVOR! I've got to try their other burritos. We also got French fries and they were pretty good- 4 stars. Huge portion- probable enough for 3-4 people! We were so hungry I forgot to take a picture lol. Would get again. First visit: red chilaquiles. Crispy tortillas soaked in a bold salsa roja, topped perfectly--no soggy mess, just layers of flavor with that careful hand you feel in every bite. Menudo sealed it: deep, comforting, slow-simmered depth that only comes from real care. Every dish screamed high-quality ingredients and thoughtful prep. No shortcuts here--it's crafted like someone's abuelita still runs the kitchen. But reality hits: portions run modest for the price tag. In this nice-area location, expect to pay premium.
