I order a Catalina margarita when I go to El Charro it always comes the same way in the large margarita glass today it came in a glass that was about half the size when I asked about this. They told me this is how it always comes, which is not true. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the girl I asked forgot to get a supervisor, so I asked to speak to a supervisor again, and the girl that said she was a supervisor said that this was the correct glass. I was hesitant to stop here at first, given the not-so-great reviews. But since we were on the road and this was the only option besides fast food, we decided to give it a try. The place is large, inviting, and very clean--almost too clean, like they'd just scrubbed everything down with Pine-Sol and Febreze. Drinks came out right away, and the tea was excellent. It did sit empty a few times, but that wasn't a huge issue. Service was on the slower side, and our server came across a bit stuck-up, which took away from the experience. Food arrived hot and in a timely manner. We ordered the #37 Carib tacos, which were very tasty. The charro beans were a pleasant surprise--flavorful and delicious. Queso was just okay, chips were disappointing, and while the red sauce was good, the green sauce was all heat with little flavor. The biggest downside was waiting about 25 minutes for the check. Eventually, we had to go up to the front before someone brought the bill. Overall, I'd say the food was good, and with a few improvements in service and sides, this place could be really great. read more

This is the best Tex-Mex within at least 30 miles! If you're ever driving through Marlin and you're hungry, you've gotta check El Charro out. I remember coming here after my grandmother's funeral and it was delicious. We all snuck orders of margaritas and they were delightful. This time, my mom and I shared Mix Fajitas and they were bomb! We asked for green salsa and it was the most delicious jalapeño, oil, onion, and garlic mix. The charro beans are great (they ARE in the name) and the corn tortillas were fresh. The tea is perfect! Only reason for a star knock is because of the service. Even when ordering in Spanish, small things were wrong and different waitresses assumed different things. Still, I'd be back. read more

This is a "sister" location to the El Charro in Clifton, Tx where EVERYTHING is amazing! Food quality, portions, speed and courtesy of server and dining room cleanliness. Ate here for the LAST time. Would give no stars if I could. They're hardly ever busy when we eat here and the food comes out cold and takes 20+ minutes every time. Drinks are NEVER refilled you have to ask and that's if you can find someone who works there. They're always on their phones or twiddling their thumbs in the kitchen. One time we came here we over heard someone complaining about a hair and the manager said "pick it out" and that she had "things at home to worry about". Sometimes you have to ask for chips and salsa. Beans are dryer than the Sahara desert. There's barely any food on your plate. I wouldn't even feed this crap to my dogs. I love Mexican food. Seriously could eat it every day...so on my trip to Ft. Worth hubby and I were looking for a quick bite. I fount this place and saw a pic of their big burrito. Went in and ordered it to go with Carne Asada. Less than 10 min later it was ready. It did not disappoint. In fact it reminded us of a burrito we used to get in Houston until the abuela retired and it was never the same. We were so happy to find this gem. My hubby and I shared one because they are pretty big and they do not skimp on the meat but I could have eaten my own as well. Can't wait to try their other dishes and drinks in the future. This place is really great. For some reason I put off eating here for quite a while and now that I've tried it I really wish I wouldn't have. We came in for breakfast and I ordered the chilaquiles and I must say they are some of the best I've ever had. Very large portion, it was spicy though which I like but fair warning to anyone else. If you don't like hot food I wouldn't order this. I will definitely be back. The prices were very affordable and the staff was very friendly and provide a good service. My bill came to $10.40 with a coffee and 2 add-ons (steak and 2 tortillas) I recommend anyone in the area or passing through to give this place a try. read more

If I could give a negative review I would. They serve weak drinks and please do not order take out from this abomination of a restaurant. We ordered a meal for the family and didn't get everything we ordered. I called the restaurant and was told that they were busy and that's why all item's we're not included. I was also told that they wouldn't replace the meal that was altered. So our options were to have someone leave and have all meals cold or live with it. Then the rude receptionist hung up on me. After my entire family ate my husband took my meal up there untouched and was denied a replacement. This was this evening 7-21-21. We vote with our dollars and will never return. read more

This place has potential Bc the food isn't bad. They are severely understaffed and the service is abysmal. I've been here several times and it's the same every time. A handful of people there. They asked booth or table? I said a booth I'd you have one available. She said ok and walked us over to a booth covered in food. She never said a word, just cleared some of it off and left. Came back several minutes later with us just standing there waiting and cleared some more and walked off. Never spoke to us. I walked over to the table and it was clean so we went ahead and sat down. The margaritas have no alcohol in them at all, so you have to add a kicker if you want any tequila in your drink. Tonight my husband and I ordered the beef fajitas. Did they taste bad? No. But the waiter brought us fajitas for one for two grown adults. He said he didn't hear me say for two. I said well we are two people so....even if I didn't say the words "for two" any reasonable person would clarify that if they had a question? We got one basket of chips and they never surfaced again to refill them. Every time I come the taste of the food is overshadowed by having to be completely irritated by the service and we are easy going people who have pretty basic expectations. They never brought the check. Walked up to the desk and 3 of them were standing there talking. Paid and left. Wish there was another close option for us. Next time will just eat at home. read more

The food was great. My husband, daughter and myself split the order of the fajitas for two. The waitress knew that's what we were doing. When the meal arrived there where only two plates given and 2 ea tortillas. I had to wait over ten minutes to receive another plate so that we had three plates total, one ea for each of us. Then we had to argue with the waitress to receive 2 more tortillas. She kept explaining that the fajitas for two only came with two packs of two tortillas. I we kept explaining that we only receive one pack of two tortillas for a party of three. Then she said she'll see if the cook can make two more?? I was what? Is there a tortilla shortage in a Mexican restaurant??? Which then had to wait an additional ten minutes to receive. So my food was cold by the time I got a plate and 2 ea tortillas. This is the reason I will only give 2 stars. A $64 dollar dinner ruined because of the server, not enough plates for our dinner and lack of tortillas that should come with a fajita dinner for two.
