Eggs, potatoes and refried beans.
Lisa M.

Food : i will say this visit "it was the refried beans for me!" Never have I had them seasoned so well. All of the food very good and freshly prepared. Service is great. I am a semi-local and we eat here one in a while. Each time has been a good experience. Molly has typically served us and she does a great job. Friendly and attentive. The staff seem to know some of the local customers by name. Ambience is nice stopping by your aunts house.

Pay phone that rings for togo orders?

Hearne, Texas. Yeah, you're gonna have to google that to see where in the heck the town is. But, you need to try to Mary's El Alamo Cafe. Think similar lineage to Austin's Matt's El Rancho and Fort Worth's Joe T. Garcias. Not as old; just rocking plates since the early 70's. Picked this place to try something new. We go through this town once a year heading to a car club event on the Texas/Louisiana border. Last year, Dixie Cafe got good marks. This year..it's Mex with side of payphone ringing off the hook next to our table. Friends and GF said they never saw me eat so much; basically the ol' #1 with a little bit of everything. Queso tostada chip, beef chalupa, crispy beef taco, tamale served with chili con carne, and a chicken enchilada with "gravy". Rice, beans, and guacamole too. Very old school with no other sauce options; forget ranchero, verde, jalapeno sour cream and so on. And there was the owner Mary sitting in the back with a watchful eye as food exited the kitchen. Super reasonable prices; four diners was around $60 + tip. Will be back!

Chorizo, egg and bean breakfast taco... "to go" order! Yummmm!!!

Passing through town on a Saturday morning and found Mary's El Alamo. Bummed that we were having to get our breakfast tacos "to go" because the aroma coming out of the kitchen was heavenly! Mary's Granddaughter, Vanessa, gave hubby and me a wonderful history of the 51 year Restaurant. They have a fun "wall of fame" too! The place is clean! And the breakfast tacos with El Alamo's homemade hot sauce were wonderful! The flour tortillas were fresh and tasty. I was a little ambitious ordering chorizo, egg and bean for on the road food! But well worth the mess! Hubby said sausage in his taco was tasty! Got to go back to Hearn just to try a lunch at El Alamo!

Stopped for early dinner and found good food, great service, and good country music. Can't ask for anymore than that.

The menu prices are way outdated it should be updated. Online the fajita plates are $10.50 period but in reality they are $15.99.

Lo Nuestro De Mexico - New Braunfels, TX…read more We swung by on our way home from College Station, mostly because we were starving and partially because my teenager claimed he was "literally dying." Dramatic, but honestly? This place brought him back to life. I ordered the miga plate, and it came out so fast I barely had time to open my Yelp app. The migas were cheesy and comforting, the beans tasted like someone's grandma still supervises them, and the papas were the kind of perfectly seasoned little bites that make you rethink every sad potato you've ever eaten. Kaden got the waffle, eggs, and bacon -- because apparently we were doing both Mexico and Waffle House energy in one sitting -- and his plate looked just as good. Everything was hot, fresh, and made with actual pride, not the "we're just trying to survive the lunch rush" energy you get at some places. The chips and salsa? Dangerous. The red salsa had a smoky kick, and the green sauce was bright and addictive. I kept telling myself "last chip," and then immediately betrayed myself. Service was quick, the vibe was relaxed, and the food was the kind of authentic Mexican cooking that doesn't need neon signs or gimmicks. Just flavor, comfort, and plates that make you happy you stopped. 10/10 would detour again.

Highly recommended. We had breakfast yesterday at Julio's…read more My hubby and I live in Waco, and met my SIL in Riesel. I didn't expect much, I mean, it was little Riesel. Well, I was wrong! It was delicious! We'll go back soon to try other dishes, but our meals were good-extraordinary. SIL had ground beef crispy taco, and she said it was very good. Hubby had grilled nopalitos with eggs, toast, and a side of pico de gallo (yummy). We all tried the nopalitos and they were delicious. My husband even asked the chef for the recipe. We'll be trying to make that soon. The migas were the star of the breakfast, IMO. Served with beans, crispy potatoes, bacon, and tortillas. Generous portion-everyone shared my plate, and there was plenty left for me. Very Fresh and tasty, and different from other Mexican restaurants. They cooked it with fresh sliced jalapeños, fresh tomatoes, and fresh onions. I gave most of the jalapeños to hubby, but the flavor remained just spicy enough for me. It was mixed with ranchero sauce and cheese, but neither was overbearing. It just synthesized into a delicious dish, somewhat reminiscent of chilaquiles mixed with eggs. The server and part owner was Julio's, and his parents were the chefs. The prices were reasonable. There were 6-7 four top tables, and a booth for 4. I think the 4 tops could seat 6 as well. Nice AC. Clean, even the bathroom. The only negative was No Coffee. Julio said they usually had it, but it wasn't working at the moment. I believe they stop serving breakfast at 11am, and we were there at 10:20. Perhaps they didn't realize there had been a time change. Anyway, no coffee for breakfast didn't sit well with SIL and hubby. I had a Diet Coke and was happy as a clam. It was definitely work the 20 drive from Waco! * Recommended: Check out the donut/bakery next door to Julio's. I wrote a review for Starlight Donuts. Not sure if that's the name, but the address is correct.

The food is great but the staff are not very sanitary. Nice to eat and hangout with friends.read more
