GROSS! My hubby and I went on a date night tonight. I ordered the torrilla soup and it was pure water, with a 1/4 piece of chicken breast. It tasted like chicken broth. I complained after not eating it and they took $2. off the bill. My husband ordered the nachos and the beans were dryer then hell, tasted like canned beans and looked like poop! Ok so I gave this place a try based on the good reviews. Pictures posted by other fellow yelpers show some good looking food so my husband and I gave it a shot. However, our visit went from excitment to disappointment when our food was served to us. I thought it was authentic Mexican food and I could not find a drop of authenticity. My husband ordered the carne asada plate and let me tell you I'm not sure what kind of meat that was but it did not taste like carne asada. It was so bad that my husband refuse to take it for our dog to eat. I ordered the green chilaquiles and I could not find the salsa anywhere. I have ordered chilaquiles many times before and the salsa is literally in your face visible here not so much and here's a pic to prove it. This was the worst experience we've ever had here. The salsa has changed and is nasty. Used to be good. Now it tastes like a bowl of sugared tomato paste. My son ordered the Chorizo Skillet which was advertised on the sign outside the door for today's special. So we asked before ordering. We were told it came with Chorizo, Ham, Sausage, veggies and potatoes. It had NO CHORIZO! We asked again, the young lady stated she would tell the owner. The owner came over, her explanation wasn't any better. My potatoes that came with my breakfast tasted like yesterday's old potatoes rewarmed. My daughters French Toast was made with last months old bread. Ok, so yes slightly exaggerated but it was a bad experience and they've lost our business for good. Do not recommend trying the flan here, I dined in and decided to take the dessert home. When I got home I opened the dessert and took a taste of it and found it was undercooked/expired. I called the restaurant and expressed my concern especially as a newly expecting mother and the manager was nonchalant about it and chose to rebuttal my claim stating their flan is made fresh daily and did not offer to check the other flans were in the same condition for the purpose of public safety. I am unimpressed with the lack of ownership and disregard for a serious matter that could have seriously made me and my unborn child sick. A few weeks ago, El Charro was running a safe operation, so we went there often for takeout. Today when I stopped to pick up my order, they were allowing inside dining and unmasked customers. There was a message about operating a space for protest on the menu board. I paid, got my order and left. I love this place mostly because they're open so early in the morning. My favorite from this place is supreme nacho. Their chips are thicker and doesn't break when you try to get as much topping as you want. It hold the shape and crunch like a champ. Inside is usually clean and not too busy. Love a small business close to home that has good service and food! They have some really good chips and salsa, which is very telling at a Mexican restaurant. We've had their quesabirrias, buche, tripas, asada, Chile verde and of course bean and cheese burritos. Everything has been great including the salsa for tacos! Their tacos come in regular size corn tortillas and they're doubled so they are big!! I would definitely say this is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Cherry Valley/Beaumont area:) read more

Wow. What a disappointment. The tortillas for the fajitas were dried out and old. When we asked for fresh ones, the cook actually came out to ask what was wrong with them. They actually kept the shape of the paper roll they were brought out in! Oh, and charged $3 just for three small tortillas. The fajitas themselves was not very flavorful. My mom asked for rice on her to tostada salad instead of meat. That also cost an extra $3. The sprite I got from the fountain had no syrup and they seemed shocked when I told them. Very dissatisfied with this place today which is a bummer because I've been coming here for the past 10 years and never have I been so disappointed. Met my husband here for lunch and the food was good as always. I had a tostada and he had a burrito. We both we pleased with the food and our server was super sweet too. However, it doesn't matter how good your food is if your customer service is subpar. The disappointing part came as we attempted to pay our $15.30 check. Apparently their wifi was down which caused their credit card machine to malfunction. We're not an unreasonable people and completely understand that technical difficulties happen. Our waitress apologized and said that it could be up to 10 minutes for the wifi to be up and running. We said no problem and agreed to wait. Long after 10 minutes I asked the manager what was going on, in so many words she said there's an ATM next door and that she "highly recommended" that I use it. I told her I didn't want to because I didn't feel it was right for me to be put out because of their technical problems. She said well there's nothing i can do, you're just going to have to wait. Then the waitress said that she "personally would just use the ATM. I was pretty fed up with these women telling me what I should do with my money...over $15!!! I even told her I would do an IOU, she said no and that I could leave my ID!!! Sorry...no. i still had to drive home. I waited a total of 40 minutes just to pay my check. All in all, I was made to feel like I was the problem. Their customer service was terrible today. It's a bummer because I won't be back, and neither will my family. read more

A person (Vanessa) wrote a review about how her drinks were overfilled.... . Are you serious? This isn't only petty, it shows your deep bias against this place. Why don't you lean over your cup and start slurping? Then you can thank them for hooking it up. This isn't a restaurant where they are going to raise your drink to your mouth then wipe your lips with a napkin. If you want that then you're in the wrong place. Try Beverly Hills and even then you're probably going to be disappointed. You're upset about a cup that you left behind? Who's responsibility is it to keep an eye on their belongings? You are lucky they were honest because they could have easily said they didn't know what you were talking about. Consider they are running a restaurant and they aren't going to stop the world from spinning because the queen of the Inland Empire forgot her cup. I love the employees. they are faithful and look happy. I get the feeling they get along with the owner and they understand the restaurant's mission. I'm assuming it's customer satisfaction. For starters, this is my first time coming here. I made this decision because I was Hungry, Lazy, and didn't want to drive far, and seeing that this was practically down the street, and remembering how many of my friends used to come here in High School on lunch, I decided I'd finally try it, 2 years after graduating albeit, but tried it i did. First, the burrito was perfect, not too big, not too slim, not too chunky, just right for one person. Second, the meat was great, a little unseasoned, and had some fatty parts but not bad. Third, the guac, was weird, like a dip instead of guac, just something was very bland and not good. Finally the fries, I got a California burrito, which to me is Just Carne Asada, Fries, and Guac, they were more like fry tops instead and didn't seem to fit very well. All in All, 3 stars, because it fulfilled my hunger and was close, but didn't leave me wanting more. read more

The sauce that accompanied the burrito was salty and bland. Gross. This is not "authentic" Mexican food. Its bland, over salted, and made for white people with no taste. My husband had the two combo plate with a chicken enchilada and shredded beef taco. It was edible, but not the best we have ever had. Yea, I am calling out all the people that have reviewed this place and have called it "amazing" and "highly recommended". The first time we ate here a few months ago it was pretty good - enough that we came back today for a second time. Today's experience was AWFUL. The service was incredibly slow despite the fact there were only two tables to serve. This might seem petty but the drinks were filled SO HIGH that they spilled over as soon as you move them - with no reason from the server at all as we used every napkin around to clean the mess. I called after our visit to see if my son's cup was left there - it was - the person I spoke to told me they would hold it - I get there an hour and a half later and they threw it away! - that wasn't the crappy part-the female MANAGER was the WORST part. I was literally BLOWN AWAY at her immediate attitude. First she made it seem like I was lying about calling - then I showed her my phone and a server told her she had spoken to me. She in every way but using the word told me to F- off. Refused to give me her name? Asked me why I needed it and five minutes into me explaining to her what customer service MEANS and telling her I would be reaching out to the business owner about the attitude that she serves his establishment - THEN she changed her tune. The chile verde burrito is the only thing I order here. The addition of salsa and chips is outstanding and taste delicious as well. Maybe some salt would be nice on the chips but that's just me. The chile verde is chunky like Rosa Maria's and not the shitty food aged in salt down the street named El Mariachi. Perfect amount of chile verde sauce. However the meat is a bit plain but the sauce and beans cover up for it. The price has went up to over $7 on the burrito and have yet to go back. Once the price goes down I'll be back on a few times a week basis as I once was. read more

I LOVE the food! Excellent food. Awesome service. I frequent this place at least 3-4 times a month. Their breakfast burritos are amazing, and I love their carne asada! Their ingredients are so fresh and delicious. You can tell they keep the place super clean, too. I sat behind the bar one time, and watched the waitresses serve chips - they made sure to put on a new pair of plastic gloves before grabbing the chips. They're constantly cleaning/sweeping, and the waitresses always have a nice, friendly smile on their face. The only complaint I have is that they're not open 24/7. :) I love El Charro! read more
