This place used to be a lot better before the rebrand. The old setup had more personality, and the newer look feels a little more generic. It's not bad, it just lost some of what made it stand out. The food is still really solid though, which is why I keep coming back. The aguachile is one of the best things on the menu, super fresh with a good kick, and the tacos are consistently done right. Simple, clean, and you know what you're getting every time. It's a nice sit-down restaurant if you want to actually relax and eat instead of rushing through a meal. Service is usually solid even when it's busy. Fair warning, it gets packed after church and the wait can build up quick, so timing matters if you don't want to sit around. The food was honestly a hard 5 out of 10. The beans and chips were very good, but that was the highlight. It was just my husband and me: I got one shredded beef taco with a side of beans, he got three tacos, and we had two drinks total. The bill came out to $33 and some change, which just didn't feel worth it for the quality. I really wish it lived up to the Tacos & Beer I remember. I would definitely return again, but it looks a little crammed a little small like if they're holding a storage space in the back I can definitely see a lot of foot traffic coming in but the storage space seems to limit them. Everyone was beyond friendly and made us feel right at home -- plus, there's tons of seating, so no awkward waiting around with your hanger setting in. They start you off with chips, salsa, and a side of beans that I swear must have some kind of secret magic in them. I'm seriously tempted to beg for the recipe. We got the fajitas and a torta, and holy guacamole -- that torta was HUGE. Like, "can't-fit-in-your-mouth" huge. The fajitas were sizzling perfection and easily enough for two people (but don't expect to share once you taste them ). Even though it's about an hour drive for us, we'll 100% be making the trip again. Totally worth it. We used to come here before when they were still doing table service, but now it's just order at the register, and sit and eat at the tables as everything is packaged to-go. The beans are too spicy for some kids. The beans were also way too salty so we ended up throwing them away. We asked for a sprinkle of cheese on top of the beans before we tried the beans, and we were charged a couple dollars for it. The food was super old, salty, and greasy. We got the torta with fries and the chilaquilles, both with chicken. The chicken was super tough to chew and was also dry. The chillaquiles had a puddle of oil under and was also super salty. The fries that came with the torta were definitely old, as half of them were burnt and almost translucent from the oil. HUGE portions and good flavors! I was honestly amazed at how big the portions were, definitely come hungry!! The food overall was tasty. The moment we walked in, the vibe was cool and so welcoming. Then I saw the menu and instantly felt like I was back in Mexico. We were off to an amazing start! I ordered 3 fish tacos Baja style (because obviously), and my husband got the 3 shrimp taquito plate. When the food arrived, it looked even better than the pictures: like, stop-scrolling-worthy. My mouth was watering before the first bite, and it did not disappoint. Fresh, flavorful, and absolutely DELICIOUS. My husband barely said two words... because he was too busy smiling and devouring his plate. That's how you know it's legit. But the cherry on top? The staff. From ordering to the sweet gentleman who brought out our food, everyone was so friendly and kind, it really made the whole experience that much better because you rarely see good customer service anymore. We picked up the relleno baked potato, mini chimichangas and the shrimp with garlic. The food has always been really good here. Today, the shrimp on top of the rice was very greasy or buttery so we tossed a lot of it out. The potato was good. The chimichangas had good flavor. We have been coming here since 2020 I believe or around there. When we have dined in they always give chips and beans to dip. Even on to go order they give a tiny bag of chips with the beans and salsa. Today I asked for that tiny bag and she said they charge for it. I asked if that changed and she said no. She wasn't willing to explain further and she was kind of rude. I have probably dined in or picked up to go at least 15 times. This is the first time there wasn't any salsa, chips and beans. I am not sure if they changed cooks or what is going on, but the green sauce that used to be full of flavor and mild, is now intensely spicy and flavorless. Also, the menu has changed. Many items such as Camarones Locos are not available. The Camarones al Mojo de Ajo are super spicy. Service is poor and staff lacks basic customer service skills. I am not completely sure if we will return or not. I usually love this place, I've been in Beaumont for 15 years and they always do well. The food is delicious especially their carne asada fries. 1000% recommend to anyone. The environment to eat is very home like and I love eating here. However this time ordering on the phone, I was greeted with super low energy, mumbling and bad customer service. The tone they use on the phone is not welcoming and it's almost like pushing customers away. If you don't like talking to people, why work in customer service and food ‍ To top it off, ordered 2 breakfast burritos and it came up to $40.
