Asada tacos, meat cut larger than normal
Jay P.

OK Mexican food near the Cabazon Dinosaurs, if you've seen the movie "The Wizard" or "Pee-wee's Big Adventure" you can go to the dinosaurs for an iconic filming location. We stopped by headed back from Joshua Tree, looking for any lunch spot with good reviews. They are located in a large plaza with plenty of parking, the restaurant itself is also spacious with plenty of seating. My wife loves restaunt style restaurant style Mexican food so she was really excited. Asada Tacos: nice grilled taste but the pieces were cut too large for me and I would have preferred just onions and cilantro. Comes with cheese, guacamole, pico on the side. Chicken Taquitos for the kids: chicken was dry and I had to put some carne asada inside so the kids would eat it. Enchiladas: My wife and mother in law got the green sauce one and the traditional one, they both loved the enchiladas. The rice tasted like it had turned so we didn't eat any of it after a bite. Michelada: Come in a huge glass I would best describe as a goblet. The chamoy and chili-lime on the brim was so good!

Good "comfort" Mexican food. Beans are very nice, Tacos, good, Enchiladas good, and quac is also good. One day the quac was a little chunkier than a previous visit. A slight note on consistency, but not important. Nice little bar to watch games, a plus for me.

This is a solid Mexican restaurant. The service was fast and friendly. The chips were light and crispy. Salsa had algood flavor. I asked for beans in my enchilada and they were happy to make that variation. I asked for a side of the hottest sauce they had. I got a homemade roasted pepper sauce, great flavor and heat.

For our late lunch on the way to Whitewater and Idyllwild, we decided to try Mexican food since my husband saw it had good reviews, so why not! The salsa for the nachos was a bit watery, but still tasty (I ate it anyway, haha). The portions were big! I had two tacos, one shrimp and one fish, while my husband had three tacos. The food was worth it: big and tasty. The staff were okay; they were busy, but at least three different people still checked in on us to ask how we were doing and what we needed, which was nice.

Beers cold, foods tasty, and the staff is quick and friendly. Easily one of the best spots in town and everyone knows it!

Bringing out the salsa de aceite before anything else told me this was going to be the real deal. I tried the pozole and the tamal de queso for my initial visit. It's a good gauge to measure against taste buds that had my grandma's or any of my aunt's or cousin's cooking. They were incredible and stand up to any food I've had anywhere. It tastes homemade and not straight off the Sysco truck. I'm glad they have a vegan menu with vegan options for me to bring my wife. Needless to say, I'm impressed and will be back to this Mexican spot with an American diner feel based on the ambiance in here.

Salted caramel latte - I was told it was the favorite flavor off the menu. It came out perfect temp for how I like my coffees. Not too hot but hot enough to down to wake me up for the day. If you want it really hot to sit and sip on than maybe mention it before hand. Just off my experience, but it was very sweet and flavorful and I got my hit of caffeine and sugar for the morning. Huevos ranchero- Eggs any style, chile verde on bed of tortilla with smothered beans This isn't your traditional style. This is the" Nosotros Cafe" way of making it. Unlike high-priced, overly decorative spots that fail to deliver on flavor, Fuego Carvings gets right down to what actually matters: incredible, authentic food and warm hospitality. The restaurant is spotless, comfortable, and well-sized, with authentic Mexican music playing at just the right volume so you can actually enjoy your conversation. As a massive soup lover, I had to order the Birria (plus a taco), while my wife went with the tamale plate: The Birria: The absolute star of the meal. It arrived in a massive 32 oz bowl packed with remarkably tender meat and a deep, flavorful broth. Honestly, I would have gladly paid more for a bowl this good. The Tamales: My wife thoroughly enjoyed her plate--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The service was top-notch, and the prices offer fantastic value for the quality and generous portions you receive. We can't wait to go back and try the Menudo--if it's even half as good as the Birria, it's going to be a winner. If you want authentic Mexican food where you truly get your money's worth, do not skip Fuego Carvings!

I could write a long time. But start with authenticity. Their own salsa which they are quiet free with. Quality fresh tortillas, that you can smell the corn...mmmm, and some from Mexico. They have a meat counter and their prices are competitive with the meat looking really good, some is in their own marinade. Speaking with the owner he said they would make anything to our request. He proved it by cutting up a fresh unseasoned chicken breast to make a burrito for my wife who does not eat seasoning on chicken. Darn burrito weighed about a pound. The street tacos, choice of meat, ???? $1.00. One dollar on Tuesday nights. Other $1 specials every other night of the week. Here is the kicker. About the same food that we get from Ai..... ssshhhh for $45 dollars for crappy food, we paid $32 dollars from Fiesta. That is under $11 each and we had food left over. I do not know if this is good news or bad: The owner says at end of month they are expanding the building to $10,000sq ft. . We just have to encourage them to keep the restaurant family, and neighborhood friendly. Good Luck Fiesta Taco.

If I'm in town, I'll definitely want to try their tortas. They look good too.

The restaurant is always clean, and the atmosphere is comfortable with music playing at a good volume. It is a big improvement from the days when the music was blasting under the previous owners. Wheel chair accessible, not crowded or confined. I normally enjoy chili that can burn your soul. However, what they lacked in heat, they far surpassed on flavor. Besides with my diet changes heat is not something I should be eating at this time :) So this restaurant was definitely what my body needed. {IMPORTANT} a semi hotter chili available upon request. My spouse enjoyed the vegetable omelet however, did not enjoy the French fries that came with it, would have rather had either Spanish rice or potatoes, the plate did include black beans which were super delicious. My spouse did truly enjoy the food tremendously. I ordered the spinach and mushroom vegetable enchilada plate which I too requested the black beans, it also included Spanish rice. Although, it was missing avocado slices, my personal favorite, and also a suggestion it would have been more amazing. It's quite small, but feels cozy, welcoming, and authentic. The service was great and I LOVE that I didn't have to ask for the extras, like the salsas, cebollitas, etc. A small act that goes a long way. The cebollitas and jalapeños added on top added flavor to my burrito. It was thoughtful of them to add it on top because it didn't melt the to go plate considering our food was cooked fresh. I'd be lying if I didn't say that was one of my concern; but I was so stoked to know my food stayed warm and tasted so delicious when I made it home. Don't get me started on the salsas! The sazón and variety of spice level is everything for me; so I loved that I had options. From the mildest to the spiciest level salsa, I can say they were all made with some love. My favorite was the most spicy, it was so spicy, but I couldn't stop eating it! Heheh Loved the agua fresca options & that you can also get micheladas there. Lastly, it was well proportioned, I got full with some leftovers, which is always a WIN WIN for me Giving it five stars based on my first experience, will most definitely go back for more in the near future!
