My in-laws just recently moved out to Banning about a year ago. There is not much to do out here nor a large variety of food. We found this place driving by and thought to try it out. There are not much seating so we did have to wait a while until there was a clean table available. I ordered the costillitas con nopales and it was so good. Upon ordering it, the server told me that it was really spicy and I may not be able to handle it. I am sure there may be some people out there that can't take their spice, but I LOVE my spicy food! So to me, this wasn't as spicy as she said it was going to be. The dish was very good, although I've never had it before I would definitely order it again. Each table gets their very own salsa and chips, which I really like that as well!

    Menudo watered down no flavor

Tried their menudo for the first time and it was such a disappointment. It was watered down and no flavor whatsoever. Chilaquiles are way too over priced for the amount they sell in one plate.

Stopped by here on a drive back from camping. We wanted real Mexican food. This place hit the spot. The jamaica was not overly sweet like some places tend to go overboard. We got the Carnitas plate and the Chile Colorado plate. Very good flavor on the chile colorado. Nice savory flavor. Services was attentive. She checked in often. Definitely can understand why a group of 12 were dining when we got there.

Found this place on yelp. Was looking for some Mexican food and decided to try it out. Got seated and immediately got some fresh chips and salsa. Chips on point. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito, wet with green sauce. I didn't expect it to be this amazing, this was legit the best bean and cheese burrito I've ever had ( I don't really like meat in my burritos) this was beyond my expectations. The guacamole and sour cream was the cherry on top, and service was excellent! Will definitely come back!

We were coming off a big hike and were very hungry and had actually Yelp'd to another close by location, but it was more fast-foody than we were hoping for, so we quickly Yelp'd again and found this spot not even 1/4 mile away. Very pleasant staff from the our entry and thru the entire visit. In most Mexican spots, you'll get the chips and salsa asap and this is pretty telling of the food it's preceding, but not so much here. The chips and salsa were basic at best; nothing memorable and we didn't even finish them, which for me is odd because I can plow 2-3 baskets. However, the entrees we ordered were very tasty. They do takeout and dine-in and when I got my burrito it was wrapped in foil like it was to go, so the presentation for dine-in was very lackluster, but at least the flavor delivered. My friends plate had a much better visual presentation. Restrooms are outside and while the parking lot is big, the parking spaces are angled, which would make you think you went out the other side, but there is no other side, and you go out the same way you entered.

    Refreshing and delicious michellara

Friendly environment with reasonable prices. You have to come in and try thier red menudo con pata.

    Carne asada wet burrito

Delicious food, beans made with lard and love, homemade tortillas, mouth watering pico de gallo and salsa that is fire!!!

    Chile verde plate

Stopped in with the family and had expectations with a solid 4 star rating. The coffee is served with cinnamon and was tasty. The Chile verde was excellent along with the homemade chips and salsa. The salsa had just the right amount of heat and although not a pico de gallo , was thick enough to hold. Service was exceptional A definite tag on this restaurant for a favorite when close by

The restaurant is always clean, and the atmosphere is comfortable with music playing at a good volume. It is a big improvement from the days when the music was blasting under the previous owners. The food is flavorful without relying on heavy spice. The chilaquiles are very good, the steak is cooked just right, and the Jamaica tastes fresh and homemade rather than coming from a powder. I didn't want to skimp on taste, or authentic flavors. This was our first time entering La Cocina Grill. We were immediately greeted by Janet, she was very warm and welcoming. As I often say, it's that first impression that does it for us. We were able to choose our own seating. Opened space seating with gorgeous art work on the walls. Wheel chair accessible, not crowded or confined. I normally enjoy chili that can burn your soul. However, what they lacked in heat, they far surpassed on flavor. Besides with my diet changes heat is not something I should be eating at this time :) So this restaurant was definitely what my body needed. {IMPORTANT} a semi hotter chili available upon request. My spouse enjoyed the vegetable omelet however, did not enjoy the French fries that came with it, would have rather had either Spanish rice or potatoes, the plate did include black beans which were super delicious. My spouse did truly enjoy the food tremendously. I ordered the spinach and mushroom vegetable enchilada plate which I too requested the black beans, it also included Spanish rice. Although, it was missing avocado slices, my personal favorite, and also a suggestion it would have been more amazing. I must state this dish did not lack in flavor, presentation and overall deliciousness. I will definitely will be ordering this dish again. Yes!, I promise it was that good. When we arrived, the place felt small and intimate, which gave it a cozy vibe. I ordered the chile verde burrito, and my partner had a torta. The burrito, in my opinion, needed a bit more salt it came across a little bland. The torta was okay as well, but nothing really stood out. Overall, the food was decent, just not particularly memorable, especially considering it was slightly pricier than expected. What really stood out, though, was the service. Our server was incredibly kind and friendly. She even offered to bring our food to the table, which didn't seem to be their usual process. It appeared that guests typically order at the counter and pick up their food themselves, but she went out of her way to take our order tableside and deliver it to us. That level of attentiveness was definitely appreciated. Parking is pretty limited since the location sits on the corner of a main street, so you're probably better off finding street parking nearby.
