First visit to this popular Mexican food restaurant. Ordered a carnitas burrito, wet. The burrito was HUGE, so I have half leftover for another meal. The pork was plentiful and tasty. The wife had a shredded beef enchilada, which she said was quite good. The chips and salsa were also good, and they were very happy to keep refilling the bowl. Service was friendly. We're new to the area and used to great Mexican food. We followed Yelp to El Charros. Wow! what a gem this place is. The staff is really nice. The food is excellent. So flavorful. The good thing is they're allowing indoor seating, but that's about all I can say. The Carne Asada does not come with guacamole, but has beans and rice inside. The menu says their burritos come in a large flour tortilla. Apparently a 6" long burrito is large. The beef was greasy and lacked flavor. read more

Tonight my in-laws picked food up from El Charro and brought it to our house. I got a Carne Asada burrito. I took a bite of the burrito and felt something really tough that I was chewing on, and at first thought it was a tough piece of meat. I went searching for the culprit and pulled a STAPLE out of my mouth! A silver staple from a legit stapler. I couldn't believe what I was looking at. I immediately called the restaurant and spoke to a manager. She was very nice and accommodating, but I'm sorry, I won't be returning here to eat. I'm so thankful it wasn't in a child's food item, etc. In addition to that, my mother in law ordered a large side of guacamole and paid $8.00 for it and when she pulled it out of the bag, it was a tiny side, like two scoops worth. This place keeps going down hill. Customer service is bad, you are not allowed to substitute for a different type of cheese. After placing a to go order I was called back and told they do not have one of the items. Not sure why they couldn't tell me that on the phone since I asked several questions about the item prior to ordering it in the first place. This place is a nice find. Tucked into the back end of Beaumont this Mexican kitchen feels close to it's roots. The ambience is casual and relaxed but has a more intimate area. Clean floors and a classic ranch decor pair nicely with the rather helpful wait staff. You won't wait long for your food either. The price point is really quite good and the quality and quantity of the food is well worth it. The Chile Relano was really very good and Do try to refried beans when they are fresh. A good Mexican restaurant in the rural community of Cherry Valley. Located in a small strip mall this is a local favorite for a reason, they have great food! This visit our service was good, fast with wait staff attentive and pleasant. I have had the veggie and meatball soup. Very tasty but not salty, fresh Vegetables served hot in a delicious broth. People review this place and say that the food is so great but I just don't see it. It's good, but not great... you know. Last time I went, there was flies making their rounds here and the staff wasn't friendly. They were just kinda of there with a bland facial expression. Maybe it was the time I went? I am not sure. I would go again just to try and find something "great", since I haven't found anything I love yet. But, nothing stood out about the service or the food thus far. We have been coming here for years. The food is ok, but bland. On our last visits, we noticed the portions are becoming smaller and smaller, but the bill went up by $8.00 for two. The service also has declined as well. I feel that you are putting them out by asking for a refill on your drink otherwise it will sit there empty. I understand the prices increase due to everything has gone up, but the much smaller portions along with bad service is another thing. El Charro has a lot of senior customers and with these prices, it will probably cut down. read more

Love this place... Staff is friendly, food is the best and prices are reasonable. The Salsa here needs to be marketed. Fajitas come out sizzling, beer ice cold, burritos are huge, tacos are great (need a taco Tuesday) only thing that really disappoints me is the enchilada, it's just meat wrapped in a tortilla covered in sauce and cheese (non authentic). Absolutely loved this restaurant. A few years ago, a friend in Lake Arrowhead told me that El Charro in Cherry Valley was his favorite Mexican Restaurant. Today, I was in Banning and remembered his words and since I enjoy great Mexican food, I decided to stop by. My first impression was outside the restaurant and it was not necessarily good. . It was located in a small, non-descript business center, and from the outside it showed no promise of a good meal. It was plain, but it did have a sign saying "Authentic Mexican Food". Additionally, there was a small crowd of teen-agers outside who seemed bored and looked like possible trouble makers. I almost did not go in. I did go in. The restaurant, which looked small on the outside, all of a sudden became very large and there were lots of diners there, many of them Hispanic ... a good sign. I was seated and given a Menu along with Chips and Salsa. While perusing the Menu, I tasted the Chips and Salsa. The Chips were nothing special ... not bad, about the same as I would get elsewhere, but the Salsa had an outstanding taste. It was also quite spicy, leaving a satisfying sting in my mouth. I recommend those folks that do not enjoy a Salsa that isn't mild keep away from this one. I ordered a combination plate with a Cheese Enchilada, Chili Relleno, Beans and Rice, not an unusual plate in Mexican Restaurants and finished the Chips and Salsa while waiting. Finally the plate came and I dug in. The recipes used were nothing fancy, but they were, as promised, authentic, and the sauce over the enchilada was one of the best I've ever tasted. The portions were good. The cheese over the enchilada and the relleno was great. I was, in fact, surprised by the amount of cheese used. I've never had so much cheese before. The meal was 5 Star Plus, and may have been one of the best I have ever ordered in a Mexican Restaurant in California. Way to go, El Charro. I'll be back. And I'll try not to spill my water on the table next time. But it was a hot day, and the water was cold and felt good on my leg. read more

El charro is great. I love that they have both sit down areas and take out. It's a great environment and I love their carne asada fries! They are so good and all of their food is delicious. It can get a little crowded sometimes because of the high schoolers that come up and get lunch there, but the food is definitely worth it and it always tastes fresh and amazing. Really Good Fajitas and great service. Ive been there twice now and both times the food and the service were very consistant. The burrito I had the first time was flavorful and good size too. Comeing from LA/Log Beach I could say I have had better chips but they are authentic style otherwise I might be forced to give El Charro a 5 star rating. I must say I thought this place was takeout only because of the pictures and the sign. However They do have a dining area off to the right. This is great location to stop for anyone going to Oak Glen or hungry locals. We moved to Beaumont a year ago and we were referred to El Charro as a great place to go for Mexican food. Imagine how excited we were to finally be able to go inside and have a meal out. So the first time was very good great service and we left so happy that we found a great restaurant. Next week we went back and the food was horrible I could not even eat the fish tacos they tasted like bleach, kicker was the waitress asked if we wanted our beer in a to go cup WTH...Which actually brings me to this week back we went giving them another chance we'll let's just say after waiting for our food for 30 minutes they told us they didn't have something we ordered,which says you never even started the order . I think this is the best Mexican restaurant in the pass area. The food is always good and the micheladas are great. The booths are a little narrow so you might like the tables better if you're on the bigger side. The restaurant is always clean and the staff is friendly. Disappointing. I would recommend trying elsewhere. This place advertises authentic food and that everything is prepared from scratch. The first red flag was that our food came out less than 2 minutes after we ordered it. My first bite of my chile relleno tasted of freezer burn. The whole thing was draining copious oily, watery liquid which further confirms it was frozen. I tried a second bite but it was just not palatable. I resigned to just eating the beans and rice. To my surprise, the beans tasted distinctly canned. My food was all lukewarm and not hot. My husband got a burrito with steak in it. The meat was very tough and chewy. We were in Cherry Valley, so decided to stop and try this place out. The staff was nice, we got seated right away. Got our drinks quick, and took our orders. The server was nice and attentive. I ordered taquitos, my husband got a cheese enchilada. The beans and rice didn't have much seasoning. The meat in my taquitos was so bland and dry. I got maybe a teaspoon of guacamole with my taquitos, but it was basically smashed avocados with no seasoning. My husband liked his enchilada. The food wasn't horrible, just ok. I love Mexican food, but i doubt I'll come back here. But 3 stars because the staff is great. read more

I was so happy when we drove by this place,we are new to the area and had been looking for some amazing Mexican food. Well needless to say the food is as authentic as it comes the beans were creamy and that rice is so fluffy and the salsas has the best flavor. Today is Sunday October 10, 2021. I went with family members after church, about 15 of us. My sister highly recommended this place. It just opened up and I was hungry. I ordered a large bowl of menudo and a omelette with chile Colorado. The guy server was nice and attentive. A girl server brought us our food. My menudo was a light orange color which told me there wasn't any spice, flavor. It seemed watered down. So I ate it and I had to add the salsa that was for the chips. I never had cilantro and onion given to me in a little plastic container usually used for condiments. So I asked for two more. Other restaurants usually give a ton of onion and cilantro. I also notice I only had bits of hominy. My omelette never came so I canceled it. My niece didn't eat her menudo saying a can a menudo seemed better. I can make a better bowl of menudo at home. My brother and sister said it used to be better. Maybe the current clientele like less seasoning?? I doubt I'll be back but I hope things get better. read more

We had dinner here ans it was pretty good. We both ordered the combination meal and had a mixture taquitos and enchiladas. The meals came with beans and rice which were all so delicious. Their service was great they sat us quickly and they kept coming to our table to check on us and make sure we were okay on chips and water. The food was delicious when it came out it was very cheesy which is exactly what I wanted and it was fresh. The only thing I would say is that they didn't have a real waiting area. So the busier got there were a few people standing outside waiting for a table. Other than that it was great service, great food and we will definitely be back! read more
