Sancocho (this is just 1/4 of the serving) insanely big! The large has 3-4 servings!

Anticipating a long snowy NY weekend, I placed a seamless order of comfort food from El Castillo de Madison. The order arrived timely and hot! I really like that they put the main course, rice and beans in separate containers. It's an O C D thing, I know. If you like to spoon the beans on the rice right before rather than the rice soaked in beans, this place is for you! The Pernil was perfectly seasoned and plentiful. The Sancocho was full of chicken, pork, cassava, plaintains ... my belly is so happy! Go! There are other Dominican places in the neighborhood which are all very good but I think this is going to be my go to from now on! Da-yam their food is good. Oh, the older gentleman that delivered was the sweetest man - I tipped him nicely! Please tip nicely, they deserve it! Psst. Pro tip if you get the Pernil or pork chops order a side of the garlic/vinegar condiment, it's extra BUT it brings the flavor to the next level!

This dominican restaurant is about a 10 15 minute walk from my home and never disappoints. The Avena (oatmeal) is very filling and tasty, also comes with a slice of buttered bread. The breakfast platters are reasonably priced but always get the Mangu. 2 fried eggs, salami fried cheese and Mangum with extra onions really hits the spot! Delivery is fairly quick as well. The pork chops, white rice and beans are another go to order for my household. Definitely worth a visit for some fairly tasty food!

Left the East Broadway subway station on my way to Basketball City for my Five Boro Bike Tour packet pick up, and I spied this place. Packet pick up was extremely efficient thus year, so on my way back to the subway, I popped in here for breakfast. Two eggs with bacon, potatoes, two slices of well buttered toast and a freshly made cup of Spanish coffee, five bucks. FIVE BUCKS !!!! Unheard of in Manhattan. And by the way, the correct name of the place is El Castillo De Manhattan.

Empty now I know....Super loud and unfriendly. But clean important to me!

Breakfast was average, bread was good. Eggs were over cooked no care. The atmosphere is noisy over the top!!! Stupid Telemundo TV blasted , then if that was not enough they blasted dominican music on the house stereo. Time was 8:30 am.... No wonder I was the only one here, been here before this time it was unbearable. I wanted to eat and plan my day, that is why i came here in the first place. Impossible to achieve in this joint!!! Two stars for an average no passion food and super noisy establishment. Reason for two stars, the place is clean!

The food used to be better. The rice is my biggest complaint next to the increase in price out of no where.

Our Server, Ramon, did an exceptional job. The staff did a great job at clearing finished items and everyone's timing was spot on. We started with the Tostones Rellenos con picadillo (Green plantains stuffed with ground beef). This was a great starter. Large enough to share and I enjoyed the drizzled sweet sauce and whole olives. Our entrees were: Palomilla Steak Platter (thin cut sirloin steak) and the Ropa Vieja (shredded flank steak). Both dishes were accompanied by white rice and we chose black beans and a side salad. This was the first time that I've seen Palomilla Steak presented totally cut into strips and it was a welcomed sight. The Ropa Vieja was perfectly seasoned and the amount of meat was thoroughly enjoyed. I capped off the meal with a Cortadito (A cortado is a Spanish coffee beverage consisting of equal parts espresso and warm, lightly steamed milk. The name comes from the Spanish verb cortar (to cut), meaning the milk "cuts" the acidity and intensity of the espresso. I appreciated the cookie on the side and each sip was amazing. Wagner was great a wonderful personality and he made sure everything was to our liking checking on us periodically. I have been here before (the first time we did assorted appetizers) so but this time I dove into the dinner menu. The oxtail pasta was absolutely lovely, the meat was tender and delicately seasoned. I had the steak (I prefer my steak more on the well side) and the chef managed to keep it positively tender and juicy. Perched on top of a few slices of fried casava slices and a small side salad. You can never leave without trying the flan it's one of the best I have ever had. Service was quick and food was bought to us piping hot. The only down side is they oddly don't make pina coladas (it's the only thing I drink) and the restaurant was a bit too cold but other than that it was a lovely birthday dinner for my friend. Buena Vista is small and popular so I strongly suggest you make reservations if you plan on eating here.

Short on time, with just 40 minutes to dine, we thought we'd be wise to limit ourselves to starters and drinks. Greedily, though, we asked our server Carlos if he thought we had enough time for entrees. He said let's try! Trusting his wisdom and his consultation with the kitchen, we ordered the beet salad plus the langostino ravioli and the Chilean sea bass. To drink we had a strawberry martini and the guava and basil margarita. Every morsel was delectable. All of the dishes were colorful and interesting and robust with complex flavors and textures. The fish was cooked perfectly, light on the tongue. My daughter did ask for an adjustment to her drink upon first sip, and they accommodated graciously. We enjoyed our meals at an easy pace, got the check while finishing our drinks, paid via QR code, and made it to the show with 15 minutes to spare, satiated and satisfied. Regrettably, we didnt have time for dessert. So, good reason to go back SOON.

The seating was comfortable, making it an easy place to sit and enjoy the meal. I ordered the pernil, and the skin was, dare I say, perfect... crispy, flavorful, exactly what you want. Unfortunately, the meat itself was pretty lean and ended up a bit dry. The maduros were a bigger letdown; when I had them before, they were ripe and sweet, but this time they came out dry as hell. I sent them back, and to their credit, they took them off the bill without any issue. My friend enjoyed his Cuban panini, and while the pork chicharrón had a few off pieces, it was decent overall. So overall, I'd say this place can be really good, but there's definitely a consistency issue. When they get it right, it's excellent; it just doesn't seem to be that way every time.
