The pasta had no flavor, the jerk chicken skin was rubbery. I asked for jerk sauce on the side and didn't get it. The plantain where barely done. The food is "mid" at best. I absolutely love Jamaican food and tried this Peppa's but was extremely disappointed. This place is literally around the opposite side of the block as Katz's Deli. They seem to have strong delivery presence and likely to people in the area who are not true connoisseurs of the cusisne. The bowl packed in with good flavors to a point I'm sniffling and sweating because of the mild spicy flavor of the curry chicken meat so tender and the cabbage is cooked just right not hard....the rice and peas was so good well cooked not hard it's closer to my home cooking. This location is very small, but has a really cute and colorful aesthetic. I didn't get a chance to take pictures, but the decor is eye catching and reflective of Jamaica. The glass top barrel tables are really cute, but let me move along to the service which is not the traditional waiter situation, but the staff are pretty helpful and pleasant. It was late so they were out of some things, but I was satisfied with my meal, but just wish that my bowl of "Rasta" pasta had more pasta to even out the ratio of protein, which I seem to have more of. I had this delicious taste in my mind from eating something here from 2 years ago so when I ate today it was not the same. It wasn't the same chicken but definitely the Mac/cheese wasn't the best for me but I was alright. Really excited to have a casual, counter service style Jamaican restaurant here in the heart of LES. I was only familiar with the nearby Omar's for Caribbean food, but it's more upscale and I'm glad there's another (slightly more affordable) option in the area now. Just tried to eat here for the first time, and since I was close I thought I'd order in the store. The total I was given was higher than the order online total. When I asked, the girl told me the app was cheaper. I then stood at the counter for 30 minutes trying to get DoorDash to accept my order. First it said the store was closed. Then after downloading the app and choosing a later time when it said the store I was in would be open, it kept sending me codes that it said were wrong when I entered them. Yes I checked them. All the while this girl is standing there watching me struggle and then told me this is the menu if you wanna order and pay more. When I heard they opened up a LES location I was very excited to come and get my jamaican craving in. I Showed her the receipt and she just shoved the food in my face as I said "thank you and have a nice day" with no reply. Now I found this place while looking for black owned restaurants in NY and then it was also recommended by a friend. It was delicious. That's why we were SO happy to welcome Peppa's Jerk Chicken to the Lower East Side and we were even happier to find that it served allllllll the delicious Caribbean foods we love so much. After getting my nails done I decided to stop around delancy to get something to eat. A bunch of places (to my unfortune was packed) but for some reason, NOT this place (BIG MISTAKE!!!) I came in and read the menu only to discover they also sell drinks. I bought the blue Hawaiian and the jerk pork (I was given an EXTRA helping) (I'm starting to think I'm highly favored) anyway, from the first sip of the drink I immediately felt my stress melt away and at the first bite of jerk pork, I knew I had made the BEST decision all week.
