If i could give 0 stars i would. Me and my sister made a carry out order and to begin with the lady on the phone literally was rushing us to order and didnt even read us our order back to make sure it was right. We ordered 3 chicken and cheese quesadillas only 2 beef tip and cheese only quesadillas side of faijta veggies, chips and queso . These mfers gave us just cheese and tortillas, beef tipped quesadillas drenched in veggies, mind you we wanted no veggies on that and CHICKEN in the Chicken AND cheese quesadillas. They gave us a pan of refried beans, trying to get us to pay for more when we already paid. For shit that wasnt even in our bag and for shit we didnt even order. Then got mad when we made him realize he charged us for the wrong things and trying to get us to pay more. Then he was screaming making a scene had the whole crew come up front to just stare at us. And told us he never wanted to see us again in that establishment, first and last experience was this unprofessional as establishment who literally just tried to get more money off of you and first off they didn't even give us our receipt either. Just had lunch there today November 24th 2025. New menu and I was shocked at the price increase they had. I had just the chicken quesadilla a la carte. Paid $10 for that one item. Also had a Coke and it was $3.75. Lunch fajitas for over $13 and dinner fajitas were over $18. Nothing really reasonable on that menu lunch or dinner anymore. I'm in town for a 5 month work contract. This is the only Mexican joint I've been to multiple times. The food is outstanding and comes out hot, quickly. The staff is always busy, but very friendly and eager to make your meal enjoyable. It's bigger on the inside than it appears from the road, the decor and music set a vibrant atmosphere. Drinks are strong and margaritas are awesome. Chips are served warm and the salsa has a nice flavor with a subtle spice that sneaks up on you. Stopped in Sunday, April 29th with my grandaughter and her mother (I'm from the Youngstown/Warren area and am familiar w/ the Mexican fare there at home and def have my faves). Ordered Enchiladas Campesino and three soft tacos. In short? "meh".....mebbe I'm spoiled, but a kinda expected prerequisite is for the food to be hot...which it kinda wasnt. Cheese kinda hard on the enchiladas (hot = melted). Tacos were decent. Nothing deep or elaborate here, simply didnt walk away impressed- were I looking for Mexican whilst in Massillon, I'd probably shop for somewhere else. (Also, bathroom upkeep was kinda sketchy. I thought I knew what "good Mexican food" was eating at the old place Chi Chi's, to all of you reading my confession, I'm sorry. My husband, myself and son moved into the area and looked for good places. My husband is from Texas so he likes Tex-Mex but really likes fully done Mexican. The service is very quick with chips and regular and mild salsa is brought out. My husband orders all kinds of spicy food and loves it. Our son is getting that way but I can't with my gastrointestinal problems. When I do order the servers get a funny look on their face; no beans, no guacamole and no pics deal mole. It's pretty much guaranteed that this place is going to be packed out. Also, during the time we lived in Canton, it was pretty much guaranteed that we'd see people we knew there. In short, a lot of people eat very often here, and for good reason. The food isn't mind-blowing, but it's good, affordable, hefty portions of that Mexican-American brand of culinary tastiness that everyone has come to know and at least have familiarity with. I'd rather eat here any day than chow at the other Mexican options in Canton (i.e. Don Pablo's, Chi Chi's), and I'll always leave with some cash left over for snazziness. This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the area. I eat in or get take-out from here probably once a week or so. Honestly, I am a very picky eater, and also cannot handle stuff that is extremely spicy, so I always get my go-to here which is a chicken quesadilla, which happens to be the best I've ever had. They provide you with free chips and salsa, which are also the best, in my humble opinion! I always splurge to get the queso dip for the chips as well, and love to put some on top of my quesadilla to make it extra cheesy. The service is SUPER fast. Depending on the server you get depends on the friendliness level, and depending on exactly how friendly you really think your server needs to be. I haven't met a rude one by any means, but they're not necessarily super talkative either. They do their job quickly and efficiently, and that's all I really ask personally. Good job of refilling drinks, bringing more chips and salsa if needed, etc. The food here is also very cheap. Don't worry about blowing a huge chunk of money here. Depending what you order, with tax and tip you may be looking around $20-$25 or so for two. Take-out for two would be closer to $15 on average. They do get extremely busy, especially on weekends, so be prepared! But even on their busiest nights, I've never had to wait long for a table, 5-10 minutes tops! And take-out is usually ready in 10-15 minutes! read more

Went in to place an order for carry out, ordered, paid for it. Waited 20 minutes while it was prepared and was assured it had been checked to make sure everything was there. Got home and HALF of the order was missing. One item is unforgivable considering there are supposed to be safe checks in place to prevent it from happening but half an entire order missing is intentional and absolute theft and fraud. Only solution was to go back to get the missing items or get credit for next visit, no apology or refund was offered. We just went back to get the missing food because we will NEVER be back. read more

Clearly this is the place to go for Mexican food in Massillon. The place is huge and even at 8:00 on a Thursday night it was packed. Seemed like a good sign! We were seated immediately and our waiter came right over to take our drink orders. That was followed by the requisite basket of chips and bowl of salsa - and by "bowl" I mean a cereal-sized bowl! The chips were standard fare; the salsa was good with a hint of heat, and perhaps a bit too tomato-ey - that's what Better Half thought. I liked it just fine. We each ordered a la carte to sample our favorites, except I took a pass on the chile relleno after learning it was a bell pepper. (That's just wrong on so many levels, and some of us gringos actually know the difference between a green chile, poblano pepper, bell pepper and others.) My ground beef taco was okay - just meat, cheese and a couple of slivers of ice burg lettuce in a pre-formed shell. The tamale was excellent! Succulent shredded pork, just spicy enough to notice, wrapped in a fine layer of masa... then covered in shredded queso Fresca and a bit of red sauce - delicioso! The biggest surprise was the pricing - this place is a bargain compared to most Mexican restaurants we've been to - the taco was only $1.50 and the tamale was $2.25. Together they made mighty fine little meal! Better half took a chance on the relleno, which was a mistake. His beef enchilada was covered in a mole sauce that tasted different from any other we've had. His guacamole tasted like it came out of a package. Overall, good food and great service at very low prices - we'll be back to try more things. And I'm definitely getting a tamale! read more

I was in Canton on a business trip and this place was recommended by the locals. I've been here twice and food was excellent on both the occasions. I was surprised to see how packed they were on a Wednesday night. I had the Carnitas dinner and it was so good that I had the same thing when I went the second time! My colleague had chicken fajitas and that was good too. I think service could vary depending on the waiter because service was really slow on my second trip but the food makes up for it. read more

This is my favorite stop for Mexican food. I can't speak for all the food as I always get the Burritos Mecicanos, but it is too good to pass up! THAT has never happened before. On the side was at least 8 ounces of guacamole-- must be frozen? Couldn't put a dent in that either. I ordered a side of beans. A SIDE. As in, like a little side cup, right? No way. This 'side' of beans arrived on a 10" plate. GLOP, GLOP-- Lots of beans, but where's the spice? Sometimes places only have Corona, not Corona light. They had CL. Yeay! Also margaritas & a full bar, so mixed drinks are available should you so desire Bottom line, if you want flavor, head over to chain Don Pablo's in the Strip. If you want a trough-full of inexpensive, BLAND "Mexican" food, El Campesino is your best bet. Judging by the crowd, that's how people like it. read more

When I first moved here almost five years ago El Campesino was recommended to us as a must visit Mexican restaurant. Our first impression was ok, but not great. With time, I have wanted to like this place but it is just a so-so restaurant. What is it I don't like about El Campesino. In my opinion the staff lacks friendliness and the service is just not all that great. A proper greeting with hello would be nice instead of what would you like to drink and are you ready to order yet. Slow down there. I have to wonder about how the food is prepped when it literally comes out faster than I can get an order from Taco Bell. Is this stuff mass prepared and then placed in the microwave and heated up? I tend to believe this is the case. I can't stand when the flour shells are crisped on the edges and the sauce is runny and watery. This tells me it is microwaved. Sorry El Campesino; your less than courteous staff is not doing me any favors. The last thing I want to feel like is that I am bothering your time by choosing to dine there. And with the food being less than average I won't be returning again. A new Mexican restaurant has opened up just down the street and has excellent service and excellent Mexican food. While I have been accused of having a very boring eating routine I like to go to "El Camps" as it is known around these parts to get the best authentic Mexican Food in Massillon. The Chicken Nachos are my favorite and it is great pre-gamming food. On most nights you can find Jim Hale there and well priced Mexican cuisine. read more

"What can I get for you my friends" Love their service! There are not too many good Mexican restaurants in the Midwest and this is definitely on my top list! This place is too good to pass up! This restaurant is kind of by itself when it comes to restaurants in the area. Parking is a pain when busy but pretty decent for lunch or early dinner. It's definitely got a Spanish style of decorating to it along with some nice music to go along with the atmosphere. Customer service is fast and efficient. They get you what you want and don't make you wait for it. Very friendly too! To start off they give you complimentary chips and salsa. They do have salsa that is not spicy if that's you're thing.The food always seem to come out hot and fresh. I miss this place so much and I have quite the pickings living in Southern California now. No complaints on my end! A must try if you love Mexican food! read more

It's five stars if you're expecting what it is, a homestyle place with good food. One exception is the tamales; I love tamales, but not El Camp's. Way too much breading, not enough filling. If what you want is sort of a corn muffin with a tiny bit of filling, then El Camp's tamales are for you. Don't get the guacamole; it tastes like something from a tub at the grocery store. The cheese sauce is good, pico de gallo good, and if you ask for the spicy red sauce it's better than what's ordinarily on the tables. I suspect the food is made for people who have never eaten real Mexican food; wouldn't want to traumatize Grandpa! But if you ask, they'd gladly kick it up a notch for you. read more

Best chimichangas around. It gets really busy and loud and I'm personally not fond of that. I wish there wasn't mirrors on the walls. Found a bone in my food once. But you get generous portions and the food cooks fast. I've heard from many people you get great and yummy margaritas but I haven't tried them yet. read more

Love, love, love! I try to come to this place every time I'm in town because it is my favorite Mexican place ever! Get the cheese dip to go with the chips (and then put that stuff on everything)!
