I happened to be out in Alliance yesterday, so I stopped into this place. The staff was very friendly, and the restaurant was painted with a lot of various colors. It looked like a small Mexican village. I ordered the fajitas Texans. The flavor was wonderful, and the portion sizes were great! It seems most Mexican restaurants give small pieces of meat that are dry in their fajitas now. This place had actual strips of chicken and steak. I also probably had 8-10 pieces of shrimp in there as well. You are lucky to get 4-5 at most places. The chips were fresh. The refried beans actually had flavor. The only thing lacking, was that the salsa was lacking some depth. Another plus for me, is that they carry Coke products!!! If you happen to be in the area, I suggest you give this place a try. During my visit to Alliance to see some friends, I had a fulfilling experience at this restaurant. I left feeling quite satisfied with my meal. Our server was efficient and attentive, checking in with us multiple times to ensure we had everything we needed without being overly chatty, which I appreciated. However, I did notice a drawback: there were a few flies that seemed intent on getting into my food. Perhaps installing a Zevo light or similar pest control solution could help address this issue, as I'd prefer a more pest-free dining experience. Aside from that, it was a quick and easy outing, and I found the portion sizes and drinks to be quite generous. If I find myself back in the area, I would consider returning to try other menu items. Do yourself a favor and come have the best mexican food of your life. I attended the university of mount union and attended jalisco with my friends, family, and fiance at least three times a week. Their servers are friendly and fun. The food is incredibly no matter what you get and the vibes are always upbeat. My fiancé and I now live in Houston Texas, and we still can't wait to come home to visit our family, so we can get Jaliscos. My bf ordered the same thing he got last time and it was completely different so no consistency. And my food was awful. I got enchiladas and they were so soggy, cold, and the tortillas were crumbly and almost like a paste. Mid at best. The salsa doesn't taste like anything but watery tomatoes. We got a pitcher to split since it was a $3 off special and just tasted like juice. This place is low to mid grade Mexican food. The first disappointment was the bland salsa, then the service was inattentive, and it was very loud, and the food was pretty underwhelming. We listened to a very loud song played on repeat the whole time we were in the place. I think the food was the same as always. I learned a while ago that the guacamole was super bland so I asked for some fresh lime to brighten it up. Unfortunately the song went on and on and the margarita I drank really did not help a bit. I first asked our server about the song playing over and over and asked him to do something. But no. I've often heard about how much the Mount Union students love Jaliscos. As a sorority advisor, I'd heard about it from many students but never had actually visited myself. I met some college student friends there this week and was rather underwhelmed from the experience. I will say that the margaritas were amazing! They had so many options! I chose a wildberry marg and thought it was one of the best that I've ever had. Everything else was just average for a Mexican restaurant. There was nothing exceptional. The chips, salsa and queso were just eh. My meal of a quesadilla and cheese enchilada were ok. I found the prices to be more expensive than the average Mexican restaurant. My experience wasn't bad, made better by the company that was with me. It wasn't awesome either. I wouldn't hesitate to go back but it wouldn't be my first meal choice in Alliance. read more

My wife and I were staying at Hampton Inn and decided to try out this place since it was down the street. Also, I have celiac disease so, when I'm in unfamiliar territory, Mexican food is the safest. I had a wonderful experience! The restaurant itself was clean and comfortable. No complaints about the ambiance. The staff was friendly, prompt, and professional. No complaints there either! Starting with the basket of tortilla chips and salsa, the food was outstanding. The tortilla chips were huge; obviously made fresh. The salsa was extremely fresh and had a hint of something that I don't normally taste in salsa; I'm not a culinary expert so I'm sorry I can't pinpoint the exact ingredient, but it was very unique in a positive way! I regret not ordering a side of guacamole. My wife and I both got fajitas. She got chicken, beef, and shrimp. I got chicken with corn tortillas. Delicious! I 'm from Alliance and try to eat here 2-3 times a week. Eating here feels like being in Mexico, not in Alliance. Everyone working here speaks Spanish, as well as English. When I walk in, I'm greeted with, "Hola amigo". Gives the place a real authentic ambiance. All servers are very pleasant and helpful. They make you feel like part of the family. When I'm there, I'm not "Richard" - I'm "Ricardo". I become Mexican for a little while. The food is great. Living in California for 16 years, I ate a lot of "authentic" Mexican food. Jalisco's is right up there with any of those. Salsa is very good and, of course, the frozen margaritas- what's not to love? In my next life, I'm coming back as a Mexican. This is where I'll eat! Literally had to ask for napkins to place our order for another drink also to place a togo order for our son and ask for our check!!!! GIANT portions. Relatively low cost. Super authentic. Substantially better service and food quality compared to its Alliance counterpart: Don Poncho's. For my vegetarian/vegan friends: Anything can be substituted to have rice or beans in place of meat. The #27 is a favorite of mine; fajita vegetables with a Mexican salad and 3 warm flour tortillas. I think the previous reviews were probably based on one visit. I have eaten here 5 times and for a mid-west Mexican restaurant, I firmly believe this establishment deserves a 4 Star rating based on a number of factors. As a baseline, I recently moved here from Escondido, CA and prior to CA, I lived in Albuquerque, NM. No, this restaurant is not like the Southwest but remember, it is not serving to a community where the population is 50% Hispanic and has many more preferences or sauces, type of peppers, spices and cooked in a manner much closer to how the customers cook at home. In any case, the food ingredients are excellent, cooked properly and yes, maybe a little bland for some but I bet most in Stark County do not want to drink a quart of water to put out the fire in their mouth from hot peppers that make grown men cry. The service is excellent. Of special note, I accidentally left a new Smartphone last week at my table at headed for home. Soon after, I dialed my phone and the restaurant answered. They immediately said they had brought my phone to the front desk and that they would secure it until I arrived that evening or the next day to pick it up. I retuned the next day and had a very nice conversation with the server who found my phone. He has worked here for two years and couldn't say enough about how good his employer was to everyone. As a general modus operandi, I tend to eschew the watered-down, "Americana" chains that have begun to plague the two-bit towns of the Midwest. So, while on business trips, I attempt to eat at places that are less chain and more local. Unfortunately, when one travels to the two-bit towns of the Midwest, that leaves very few options, which brings me to Jalisco. Jalisco was recommended to me by one of the college students from the local University in Alliance, OH. I went in slightly after seven and was pleased to see that their margaritas were still on special. I was seated promptly and given the prerequisite basket of chips and salsa, which I mindlessly consumed not caring for calories or carbs. They were nothing special, but I (in the end) I noticed that I had managed to consume a little over half of the basket before my main course arrived. The aforementioned margaritas were equally unremarkable, but satisfying. Part of me thinks that their "large" was a bit too small, but I tend to think that with most margaritas. I decided on the chimichangas as my entree and (like most Mexican restaurants) it was served quickly... probably less than ten minutes after I ordered it. In the true fashion of the meal, it was just as unremarkable as the chips, salsa, and margarita. Served with refried beans, lettuce, tomato, and cheese, it was nothing to write home about, but sated my hunger. At the end of the meal, I felt that Jalisco met my expectations in the way that most local, Mexican restaurants do. It was neither spectacular or horrendous, ergo a solid three. read more

I discovered Jalisco shortly after stating school at UMU. By far the best California Burrito I've ever had. The service can be a little slow at times, be patient. If you can't sit down and wait like a normal human being, get takeout. No one wants your negative attitude. Disregard the people who have left nonsensical negative reviews. Being Texans who are used to Tex-Mex, my boyfriend and I were a wee bit apprehensive about going to a Mexican restaurant in Alliance, Ohio. The locals said that it was good, but our experience had been that Americans who haven't lived in Texas, California, New Mexico, or Arizona don't know what good Mexican food is. Although our waiter wasn't the best, the food was fantastic! The chips and salsa were fresh and tasted like they were made in-house. My boyfriend and I both got the floutas, which were tha bomb!
