Chicken mole plate $18, chicken enchiladas mole $20
Koa B.

Came here for the mole. Heard they make authentic Oaxacan style mole. We tried the chicken mole plate (4 thinly sliced chicken breasts with 4 small corn tortillas) & chicken mole enchiladas (3 enchiladas) Both were really good! The rice was so flavorful with good garlic flavor, wish they gave more rice though! The price was a little steep for the amount of food we got, $18/$20 a plate that included less than about 1/2 cup each of rice & beans! Would definitely be back if the portions were bigger, unfortunately, I left still feeling hungry.

This restaurant specializes in Southern Mexican (Oaxaca) cuisine. The dishes are unique, and have amazing flavors. I ordered the Lamb Plate and Ribeye Tacos, both dishes were extraordinary. The customer service was very good. I highly recommend this restaurant, if you want to try some unique and delicious Mexican Cuisine.

I have only eaten here once but would again if in Burien. I had Mole Chicken Enchiladas plate which was very good - also available in Pork came with good fresh rice and beans and tortilla. It's a small cozy and colorful place. Service was attentive and nice. There were a few parking spaces in back. Also a covered patio to eat out back if weather is warm enough.

The food was amazing , great outside seating, good ambiance , the food was fast and delicious. Amazing service. The only reason this place doesn't get a 5 start is price point. I got 5 tacos, 2 drinks, and 1 burrito for a total of 68.00. I don't mind paying it but a bit strap for what I got. Non the less I will definitely be back and I will pay the 68 again, PSA the 2 Flans were 12 dollars, also amazing.

Tacos (2 chicken mole and 2 carne asada)

El Cabrito is a small restaurant right off of Ambaum Way. It honestly doesn't look anything that special from the outside, but inside, they have lots of colorful Oaxacan decor including traditional Oaxacan clothing displayed in a small closet. Although indoor seating is limited, they have additional seating out back on the patio. They also have a small gravel parking lot behind the restaurant available for customer parking. El Cabrito doesn't have a super expansive menu, but it has all the essentials - tacos, burritos, plates, and a list of specials. When my boyfriend and I went on an autumn weeknight, they had specials that included Butternut Squash Tacos and Spicy Camarones (shrimp), but I assume they seasonally rotate. After perusing the menu, I decided to just go with the TACOS ($12). They give you a plate of four tacos and let you choose two types, and so I chose the chicken mole and the carne asada. My boyfriend is a big enchilada fan and thus ordered the CHICKEN MOLE ENCHILADAS ($16). All I can say is HOLY MOLE! Their CHICKEN MOLE is the BEST mole I've ever had in my life- slightly sweet, slightly savory, and just a little bit of umami from the chocolate. It is rich, creamy, dark, and everything mole should be. And of you won't take my word for it, El Cabrito's mole is so good that they actually have a short article from a newspaper taped to their window raving about their mole. The CARNE ASADA tacos were good too, but definitely not as outstanding as the chicken mole. Next time, I'm getting all chicken mole tacos or possibly just a plate of chicken mole! Portions are alright, but not huge. My boyfriend was honestly still hungry after finishing off his plate, but I was satiated given that I wasn't super hungry to start. Service was decent. We got our food within 10-15 minutes after ordering and they have a self-serve water station. No qualms here. Overall: 4/5 for food, 4/5 for service, 4/5 for atmosphere

Super good mole enchiladas and molotes. The space is really tiny with limited indoor seating but outdoor seating is also available. I tried the mole enchiladas with pork and the molotes and I thoroughly enjoyed both items. Well cooked and the plates the food were served on were pretty. Will definitely come back to try their other dishes, especially their verde enchiladas and tlayuda. Also super kind service!

Came here on a whim since I was in the area and the food was pretty good. It's a small place with maybe 3-4 tables but looks like there are regulars that come here often. Parking is a little weird, but we ended up parking at the bank next door. We ordered the molote and the toquito as it's not something we usually see on the menu so we wanted to see what it was. They are cook to order so it does take a little time: Toquitos- meaty and crunchy and goes well with the sauce provided. Molote - fried potato balls??? Interesting item, a little bland but again, if you eat with the sauce, it's pretty good. People here are nice and hospitable. Nice place to try in burien

Popped in for a quick dinner and the restaurant was empty (also 5pm, valid), I got the molotes and my partner ordered the pork enchiladas, we got the pico and chips to share. Food took a bit but it was super hot and fresh. Chips and pico were super good, tomatoes were perfect. The molotes weren't bad but I found them lacking some flavor, the avocado sauce was really good and I wish there was more of that, I didn't taste much chorizo. The enchiladas were pretty good, strong mole flavors. Service was super friendly.

Al Pastor and Carnitas Tacos
Jason L.

This place is just ok. The Al pastor was mediocre and the carnitas was not crispy (which is the way I prefer mine). The saddest part was that the tortillas weren't handmade and tasted like store bought ones, which makes the taco experience that much inferior. Not sure if I'll come back.

Carne Asada & Chicken Mole

I had heard so many great things about El Cabrito via Yelp, various articles, and word-of-mouth, so I was extremely excited to try it out. Tl;dr - it was okay. We arrived mid-afternoon on a Saturday afternoon and we were the only people there, so we were able to order quickly. We ordered the Carne Asada, Chicken Mole, and the Pastor and Carnitas tacos. Maybe my expectations were too high? Maybe they had an "off" day? Either way, I didn't have the same experience that people raved about. The chicken in the Chicken Mole was pounded down, thin, and dry. The mole itself has a great earthy flavor, which I really enjoyed, but I didn't get any other flavor notes coming though, like a smokiness or a sweetness, to balance out earthy flavors, and I missed that. The Carne Asada was fairly dry too. Because it was as thin as the chicken, it was easy to cut through, but it was dry. The tacos were the best part of our meal, in my opinion. The Pastor and Carnitas were both very tender and had a good flavor. The tortillas seemed like your run-of-the-mill store-bought street taco tortillas, which was fine, they just didn't bring much to the table in terms of flavor or texture. Across the board, the food was okay. Nothing shined, but nothing made us regret ordering what we did. It was "okay." My rating also reflects that I've personally enjoyed (in my opinion) better Carne Asada and Tacos in the Burien area, so if I'm in the mood for those, I'd go elsewhere. If I were absolutely craving mole and not willing to go to Seattle or elsewhere, then I'd give this one more try. Aside from the food, it's a small location, I was digging the "hole-in-the-wall" vibe and the staff was very friendly.

Carne Asada burrito with chips and salsa
Tim M.

Wow, what a great little spot! I was in the area and wanted a great experience, and I was not disappointed! First of all, I wanted to say that the lady at the register was AWESOME! Very helpful and pleasant, she even offered chips and salsa to start! I loved the colorful interior and the cool art on the wall. The chips and salsa were fantastic. The salsa was tasty and just a bit spicy! Cleared up my sinuses!! Finally, the carne asada burrito was amazing. The meat was so tender and flavorful! And the sauce they gave you with the food was so nice and smokey! My only even slight critique is having the sour cream on the outside of the burrito, making it a bit messy. Overall, an excellent experience and the staff was A+++.

I finally made it to Birrieria Tijuana and WOW... I'm honestly mad I didn't come sooner…read more The birria caldo was absolutely amazing - rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned with a homemade taste that you just can't fake. You can tell it's made with love and tradition. The meat was tender, juicy, and soaked up all that deep, savory broth in the best way possible. On top of that, the customer service was super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. It really felt like one of those hidden gems where the food AND the people both stand out. If you're anywhere near Burien and craving birria. don't think twice. Good Mexican restaurant in West Seattle…read more Ordered carne asada specialty platter. Definitely big enough for two if you aren't crazy hungry Very authentic. It's something that is pretty rare to find with all of the Mexican restaurants I have been to El Catrin is the only one where it has been found. We had it on the side with rice, lettuce and tomato. The flavor for it is mushroom like with a sweet, savory, woody and smoky flavor that is corn like. It was very unique and delicious! In addition to that we got some totally awesome nachos which out of this world! We made a second trip back here and I got their Chile Relleno which totally blew me away! It was fabulous! The tortillas that came with it were simply marvelous! Steve got an excellent quesadilla! The wait may be a tad long but it's so worth waiting for. I really can't praise the food enough! We are located in Tacoma and El Catrin is in an unincorporated Seattle neighborhood and so the drive is at least half an hour on a good day but we wouldn't hesitate in making a trip up here just for this restaurant! I can't say that for many restaurants but I certainly would with El Catrin. Fresh, flavorful and a sheer delight we will be coming here with any opportunity we can seize!
