I came to La Costa with my hubby for dinner at Mexican Night again tonight. We like the atmosphere here, and it feels like we're in Mexico. The staff at the restaurant are always friendly and have good service. My hubby chose Burrito and Chile Relleno from the combination menu. I chose Enchilada and Tostada from small combinations menu. All combinations served with rice and beans. Choice of chicken, grand beef, cheese or picadillo. I couldn't finish it every time, so I ordered a small combination, but they gave me a generous amount. We shared and compared flavors with each other. Simply easy taste.

#12 Enchilada, Tostada and Traditional Mexican Chile Relleno.

Not to be judged by its curb appeal, rather what's on your plate. The kitschy rambling interior will help put you in the mood and it will be a happy one after eating here! The menu is enormous as are the portions. The #12, Chili Relleno, Enchilada and Tostada filled a 14" dinner platter. I expected it to be delicious because the chips, sala and refried bean dip was excellent. Don't expect the usual canned refried beans, these are pork scented, silky and scrumptious!

    - Food: 10/10 This is my families absolute favorite Mexican restaurant. Whenever anyone comes to visit, this is literally the first place we take them. My mom and grandma say that this is the best margarita they have ever had - and believe me - they've tried a lot of margaritas. We love coming here to watch sports and listen to great music. Love the mariachi band from Yakima that comes on Friday. - Service: 10/10 The sweetest people you will ever meet work here. It amazes me every. single. time. how fast the food comes out.

Small amount of seating inside - maybe 3-4 booths, 2 tables and 6 seats at the bar, but they have more seating outside which was fully enclosed and heated. We snagged the last table inside and ordered chips and queso to start. Frankly made flour tortilla chips that were thick and crunchy - the perfect vessel for the queso sauce which was perfectly cheesy and delish. For dinner my husband got the Barbadilla and I asked our server if he would recommend the lime-cilantro chicken or chicken tinga for the Calabaza Quesadilla and he recommended the chicken tinga - he did not stead me wrong! Huge portions of meat in the quesadilla - I only ate a third and am having the rest for lunch tomorrow. The two servers could not have been nicer or more helpful and our dinner arrived in record time. We spent $65 for our two entrees, appetizer, a coke and a beer before tip. It's something that is pretty rare to find with all of the Mexican restaurants I have been to El Catrin is the only one where it has been found. We had it on the side with rice, lettuce and tomato. The flavor for it is mushroom like with a sweet, savory, woody and smoky flavor that is corn like. It was very unique and delicious! In addition to that we got some totally awesome nachos which out of this world! We made a second trip back here and I got their Chile Relleno which totally blew me away! It was fabulous! The tortillas that came with it were simply marvelous! Steve got an excellent quesadilla! The wait may be a tad long but it's so worth waiting for. I really can't praise the food enough! We are located in Tacoma and El Catrin is in an unincorporated Seattle neighborhood and so the drive is at least half an hour on a good day but we wouldn't hesitate in making a trip up here just for this restaurant!
