El Bohio is a small cafeteria located mid-block serving Puerto Rican cuisine. It's open for lunch and it's usually my choice on weekdays. The regular menu includes beef stew, ribs, pollock, gizzards, corned beef, sancocho and other items combined with the ever present sides of white rice and red beans. Other sides, which may vary, are chick peas, white beans, frijoles, etc. The food is second best only to your grandma's cooking back home and they are generous with the serving sizes.
If you decide to try it, get there early. The place begins filling up at about eleven o'clock and the food is usually sold out by two. A full lunch will set you back just $5.50. read more
