My family and I love this place every time we visit the west side of Puerto Rico we have to stop and eat at this place and get the best service from our waiter Edwin. The business is located right across the street from the Caribbean ocean with spectacular sunsets. The food is always good and the beers are always cold. Parking is ample and the prices are reasonable. You really feel like you are having a romantic dinner with your significant other or by yourself. I highly recommend the churrasco with the rice and beans. Also recommend the appetizer platter with comes with assorted items. Been patronizing this establishment since before the Maria hurricane which almost sent them into out of business. Thank god the owner was able to keep it at float. read more

My girlfriend and I came to this place as a recommendation from our air B&B owner. We went there with the hopes to get a great meal on our last night in Aguada. We got the pulpo salad (octopus salad) and fish croquetas (fish croquettes) as an app while we decided on the main course. I asked for a recommendation on their better lobster dish and he made it sound like the only way I'd get fresh lobster would be having it grilled. So I ordered the grilled lobster with an ajíllo sauce and arroz con avichuelas (rice and beans) My girlfriend ordered the grilled chicken also with arroz con avichuelas. We finally get our food and both the lobster and the chicken are in a plate surrounded by some steamed frozen veggies and we both get a separate plate of arroz with the avichuelas in a bowl. I didn't get the ajillo sauce I asked for and the rice was WAY under cooked. So we start eating before the food got cold just waiting to see if they'll come check on "how the food came out"..... they never came. We waited so long that by the time they came we we had eaten the proteins but hadn't eaten anything else. We were just ready for the check and it took me asking four times just to get our bill. DON'T waste your time and money coming to this place, you'll be waiting for so long that you will also miss the sunset on your last night in Puerto Rico like we did, for having some less than average food. read more

This place is a must. If you are staying by Rincon or Aguada, you have to stay eat here. The food is phenomenal . The best Local food i have ever had. The service is fast and very accomodating. The owner even walks around and make sure that everything was tasting great. The mongongo, the rice and beans, the fried plantains, flan, steak, fish and chicken stew were all very tasty and delicious. I will definitely come back to this place when I visit again. I will give this restaurant another try but my first experience here was that the food was average and the service, while being very courteous was absent and slow. The restaurant was not very busy but our servers avoided the table for over an hour at one point. The food eventually came out and it was not worth the wait. read more

In summary, an old-style restaurant with mixed aspects. First of all, the location is spectacular, right across the road from a gorgeous surf beach. In fine weather, the outdoor tables are glorious. The service is meant to be fairly formal, with waiters in uniforms; the uniforms fit with the old-style decor - not the carved G on the wooden chair backs! But - and here's the first of the big butts, er, buts - the napkins are paper like you'd get at a hot dog stand. I don't really care about the napkins, but it's an indication of the little odd details that crop up and mar what should otherwise be an excellent restaurant. Anyway, the dishes we had - lobster in garlic sauce, lobster stew, lobster with chili, and shrimp rice, were all competently made, The negative reviewer must have been expecting something different. But I have to point out he was right about the bagged frozen vegetables. The basket of garlic bread served to the table was nice. The salads - er, another big butt - were shredded iceberg and 2 slices of unripe tomatoes. Just not good enough. The flan and queso flan were very nice. Altogether, at $30 per person without drinks I'd have to say we left thinking it was OK, but it really could have been, should have been better. 3 stars. read more

This place has old world Spanish charm and delicious mofungo! Right across from the beach the view is amazing. We sat inside but there are tables outside as well. I would have given this 5 stars but we were never asked if we wanted drinks - there was a small wine list but we thought that was the only option. The waiter brought over water. Ok. We had the best octopus salad ever - so tender and flavorful. Then we ordered the mofungo with fried pork - it came with a small pot of hot broth. This was mwah! I really wanted the shrimp but the prices for seafood were a bit ridiculous in my opinion. We were asked if we wanted dessert but we declined - so our meal for two was only $28 - not bad. read more

Came to this restaurant randomly when we were trying to look somewhere to have dinner! It looked like the only spot open so we gave it a try! We sat outside and our server came to us and gave us a menu. Tried the sangria they had and it was pretty good! To start we ordered fried cheese, and tostones! If you are hungry and you are on your way to Rincon, don't think twice and stop in here. One thing to note is that the address in Yelp is wrong. The restaurant is located by El Balneario de Aguada. I got lost but I called the restaurant and they nicely guided me. Food: The server recommended Chuletas Can Can with Arroz Mamposteado (Pork Chops with the Chicharron and rice and beans mixed in together). This was sooooooooooo delicious. The pork was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside but tender and juicy in the inside. And the rice was probably the best rice I had during my entire trip, so flavorful and delicious. My husband ordered the mofongo stuffed with shirmp. He was not overly impressed but he did like it. Service: Our server was so helpful, and attentive. El Galeon has the typical surtidos and mofongo de pana/platano, but what is really great are the "pesca del dia" or their daily caught fish. Being directly across from the ocean you would expect the freshest seafood, and that's exactly what you'll get! On any evening you with have a front row seat to the most spectacular sunset! It is within walking distance from our home and playa Pico de Piedra, but it is on a windy and well traveled road so transportation by car from anywhere would be your best bet. Pricing is comparable to any nice restaurant in the states, and for sure well worth it. My family and I love this place and will for sure continue to visit. read more

I frequently visit Aguada PR and I also have visited this restaurant in the past, however I was a little disappointed this time around. When I asked what was the fresh catch of the day, the response from waiter was that they didn't have anything fresh but that their selection was as good as fresh. I then asked him where did they get their seafood from, the response was it came from Orlando-Florida. I was stunned to hear this since the ocean is directly in front of the restaurant. All of their snapper, conch, shrimp is flown in from Orlando. This was for me a game changer. Note: My wife did have the snapper and it wasn't that bad but certainly not fresh. read more

0.5 stars. Worst restaurant I've ever been to. We asked if they had any fresh fish and the waiter said they didn't have fresh fish or seafood and the restaurant is just in front of the beach. I had "parmesan shrimp". They were small yet the breading around it was huge, you could tell the red sauce was not homemade and the cheese wasn't even parmesan. They had no flavor whatsoever. My mom had a churrasco, and both my dad and brother thought it tasted weird as if it had been rotten. My brother's cordon blue chicken had no taste whatsoever. The waiter wasn't even friendly. My dad said his shrimp did not stand out at all. Food was overpriced and tasted bad. Our experience was quite terrible. read more

The best Shrimp Cocktail I've ever eaten, and incredible Puerto Rican food! Seriously for me, this is worth putting on the bucket list. I loved this place. I had lobster, octopus, and Mofungo (mashed green plantains) here. All were really excellent but the shrimp cocktail I ate here was really amazing (yes I know it's not Puerto Rican). They serve local Puerto Rican food where locals might come for a special occasion or family get-together. Not your typical tourist spot. The restaurant is just off a coastal road with a good view of the ocean in the small town of Aguada. You can dress in island attire, but I noticed a few people in slacks and collared shirts. There is an indoor dining room but I preferred the outdoor patio at sunset. The service was attentive and the prices were reasonable at around $25 a plate. If you're on your way to Rincon or San Juan you should definitely visit them, you wont be sorry! read more

My favorite spot when I visit my parents in those parts. The restaurant sits across the street from a beach but I do not recommend to swim in those waters since its they have no life guards and there are so many sharp rocks in those parts. Best to drive a bit to Crashboat in Aguada. My favorite dish is skirt steak with rice and maduros (sweet plantains). They also make a great coffee and desert. Well I went to this lovely restaurant again...to celebrate my mom and dad's anniversary. Had the filet mignon with "mofongo de yuca".........oh dear!!!! It was delightful and the service was ok! Food was soo good, The dining room was a little warm for us who werent used to the heat all the way. But the food was amazing and service was on point. Little pricey but once in awhile wont hurt anyone and its nice to be treated so special. The view is right across from the beach. I can only guess that things have drastically changed at El Galeon since the last 5-star review that was posted 10 months ago. The food here was awful and the service worse. When we arrived, my wife and I were seated with an excellent view of the ocean and we were excited for a nice meal. The shrimp cocktail appetizer was just okay but the shrimp certainly didn't taste fresh. It was downhill from here. A small salad was served consisting of shredded iceburg lettuce and two poor slices of tomato on either side. It was a bad presentation and only foreshadowed what was to come. My wife ordered the "Creole" Red Snapper which was buried under an awful tomato sauce. I ordered lobster with garlic sauce and it was just bad. Undoubtedly frozen lobster swimming in a sauce with shredded vegetables. I also got the side of mofongo which was very dry although not completely inedible. We both received a side of vegetable medley which most certainly was out of a frozen bag. To top it off, our mojitos had absolutely no rum....just a sugary drink. The waiter was pleasant enough and did ask my wife, after a long wait, if she liked her meal because she had barely touched the snapper. She was trying to be polite but I had to tell him that she was not happy. She was not interested in waiting for more poorly cooked food. I also politely told him that we tasted no rum in the mojitos to which he scoffed at me. He took. Our plates away and we waited for the check. And waited. Then he walked down the front steps and sat on a bench next to the parking lot to smoke a cigarette within eye's view. I dont know if he was upset about me asking if the drinks had rum, but it seemed intentional! We were just sitting there watching him smoke and he knew we were ready to pay up and leave. So I walked over to the bar and had the bartender give us the $80 bill. Biggest waste of money. My wife barely ate a thing. We left and drive down the street to a little outdoor bar which served us real mojitos at a fraction of the price. When we returned to our hotel we told some of the locals where we ate and they responded "Oh, we never recommend people go there." I guess this place has a reputation outside of yelp. read more

Do not visit this restaurant. My husband is disabled and due to his condition, he has a service dog. We were vacationing in PR and decided to visit this restaurant. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a NOT DOGS ALLOWED! My husband presented his ID and the dog has tags herself. However, we were denied the service. Incredibly and for our surprise, they still refused our entrance. We had to leave. The owner and employees of this mediocre restaurant needs to understand the law. A SERVICE DOG is not a pet, it is a tool needed by the patient for his well being and his health. Our service dog is trained to service my husband on his condition and it is crucial for his health to keep her by his side at all times. These people are completely ignorant of the law and it is incomprehensible the way they treated us. I am claiming that every person that has an incapacity or have service dogs and every person who knows or has a friend with an incapacity not to promote nor visit this restaurant. They are inhumane and completely insensible. They are pathetic and unprofessional. SHAME ON YOU!!! read more

After hearing about how great this restaurant was, it was a disappointment after giving it a try. This place always looked very empty however, and now I know why. I ordered sirloin, which was tasty, but nothing special. Service was slow and not the best. As soon as we arrived we were hardly greeted but we were simply looked at with the server's chin up as her way of asking us about drinks, appetizers, entrees. It bothered me that for such a fancy looking place, there were wax paper place mats and wax paper wrapped around utensils, with regular old napkins they use for places on the side of the road. It sounded as if they had the radio station for US top hits playing, as it was all pop music in English. For a fancy restaurant- definitely unfitting with the atmosphere. A long piece of wax paper was left in an appetizer. I had high hopes for this place and maybe my expectations were too high, but for what the cost of this place was- unfortunately not worth the visit. read more
