We had a harder time finding restaurants that are open when we drove away from San Juan, as the 2017 hurricanes hurt local economy and tourism. Luckily, this small shop called "The Island" was still in operation and offers semi-good Puerto Rican food. After a long wait of one hour (there was another table with 12 people that needed to be served first) we got our food as:(1) Red Snapper with rice and beans (2) Ribs with fried Plantains (3) Mahi-Mahi fillet with baked potato (4) Chicken stew with fried plantain. Baked potato was rated good among all of us, but the chicken in my chicken stew had a strange raw taste that I barely ate any of them ... on the plus side, the view was gorgeous! read more

Can you say $1 mojitos???? After hours of driving, getting our car stuck, being lost and stressed out, we were trying to find a beach to sit and enjoy. We got turned around, and ended up across from this restaurant, sowe decided to stop. $1 mojitos. Sold. Instantly made the day better. Our waitress was fantastic, I wish I could remember her name. She was helpful in choosing our meals, our drinks, etc.. We had 2 small children, that were bored and needed to run around. They allowed the girls to be in another area to run and eat so they would not bother other patrons. Food came, was good, the view fantastic. There was 90's, early 2000's music playing, at a volume appropriate for an outdoor bar. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. Would definitely come back! read more

Arrived early, 5 pm. Staff was great with us non-Spanish speaking tourists! Food was fresh and delicious. Reasonable priced. Coconut mojito is a favorite and a sangria!! Clean, covid-19 temp checked and hands sprayed. Nice! read more

This is a great place to go for some drinks and quick bites. They feature two for $15 and two for $20 deals at night that have mofongo and other traditional dishes. The service is great and attentive, and the nachos were excellent. Go by after dinner and grab some medallas. read more

The music was overwhelmingly loud we decided to take our dinner to go. We had a tasty nacho and queso appetizer while we waited for our dinner. We ordered the island chicken and the garlic chicken. Before I go into detail I will clarify a meal has to be terrible for me to bother posting a negative review bc I understand the restaurant business can be difficult. If you have extra time on your hands or time to wait to eat, then this is a good place to wait for your food. We arrived with a group of 38 for lunch, there were only about 6 people in the restaurant at the time, so it didn't seem busy. It took almost an hour for food to cone out. It was a little on the pricey end. My daughter ordered The mofongo and chicken, it was deep fried chicken (she expected grilled), the mofongo was dry, we wouldn't order again. I ordered the shrimp salad, it was mostly the canned 3 bean salad, a handful of iceberg lettuce topped with shrimp. At least the shrimp was a decent size and it was fresh, but probably wouldn't order that again either. The nachos from the appetizer section were tasty, the large was enough for 3 of us. I wouldn't recommend the entrees. This place is probably only good for drinking, hanging out and the great view!! read more

Very disappointed! Asked if the octopus salad was fresh... was told it was. Double checked and asked if it was canned octopus and again was assured that it was fresh. When the octopus salad arrived it was canned meat! Disgusting!!! Also had a chicken dinner but the chicken was hard and rubbery as if they cooked it when it was frozen solid. We enjoyed the outdoor seating with wonderful views. We had the shrimp salad, ceviche, and some kind of potato salad. The food was wonderful! The waitress was helpful. We also had sangria and wonderful pina coladas. read more

First of all, we were ignored for about 20 mins and the place was empty. I ignored the yelp reviews and I don't want you to make the same mistake I did. I had the snapper and it was the blandest thing I've ever had. It was also way over cooked. Never coming back. I hope you don't come either. This place deserves to be closed. read more

One star it's too much for this place, if i could give -5 stars, this place deserves nothing but to be closed. First we arrived and no one attended us. Our family, a party of nine including two children, went to dinner here on a rainy Wednesday night. The young girl who waited on us was very attentive, charming and professional. We ordered everything from hamburgers for the kids to grilled Mahi, snapper, and steak. The presentation of all the dishes was exceptional. The fish and steak were cooked very well, the garlic and criolla sauces were very good and the arroz mamposteado was absolutely delicious. We were also all served a salad albeit with the usual thousand island dressing. In all fairness, we were also offered oil and vinegar as an alternative dressing for the salad. All the dinners were served at the same time which was also great for such a large group. The only negative was the absence of a a native Puerto Rican hot sauce, we were offered only a tabasco sauce, a very poor substitute. We will definitely make this one of our favorite restaurants, great food and very reasonably priced. read more
