The chef here blew me away night after night with their skill and execution. On an eight day trip, we chose to eat here for three dinners. Each one was better than the previous with the lobster Thermidor special being an absolute home run! It is the very best Thermidor I've ever had. The ingredients were fresh, cooked perfectly, with a cream sauce that is out of this world. The lobster was so tender. I even got to pick it from an ice chest when I walked in. Just an absolutely amazing dining experience on each occasion with excellence service and pretty much every appetizer on the menu is amazing. I really can't say enough about this gem in Aguadilla. Of all of the restaurants I've dined at during my trip in PR, this one had the best customer service. Amaury greeted us, was super attentive to our needs, and checked in on us occasionally. None of the other restaurants, especially in San Juan, did this. Foodwise, it was fantastic. We shared a variety of entrees. Known for their mofongo, we got the La Isla Desecheo ($37), which consisted of Cassava mofongo stuffed with churrasco in a mushrooms, parmesan and bacon sauce. That sauce was delicious, especially when you mixed it with the mofongo. We also got the Pechuga a la Carbonara ($19). This is a chicken breast stuffed with ham and mozzarella, breaded and fried with Carbonara sauce on top. I would compare this to a Chicken Cordon Bleu as it's very similar. Delicious nevertheless. If you're feeling like getting steak, then the Churrasco Z ($33) is for you. This is a Churrasco steak topped with a creamy parmesan cheese sauce, mushrooms, and bacon on top. Second visit here and our last meal in Puerto Rico before heading over to the airport to leave and what a great way to leave the island. This is hands down some of the best plates of food I've had in a very long time. I ordered the arroz con mariscos and my wife had the stuffed Avocado. Both were amazing dishes and the arroz con mariscos is better than most of the paella I've had in the Ironbound section of Newark all of my years living there. Fornos, Spanish Pavillion, Casa d'Paco you can all sit down now and let the Puerto Ricans show you how it's done. :) Seriously love this food. I ordered a salmon in garlic sauce & tostones(fried plantains) in ajo (smashed garlic in oil) w/ a lemonade.I waited a bit for my food to come out. The waitress was very friendly! You can tell she was in training b/c she kept asking what looked like a seasoned waiter/waitress questions. My food was delish especially the sauce on the salmon. The only complaint I would have is the value. The portions were pretty small. I had room for dessert being that my entree portions were so small. The lemonade was homemade & refreshing. On Memorial Day weekend in San Juan, we rented a car and went exploring. We tried different local restaurants and enjoyed them a lot. Desecheo is a nice, cozy little restaurant with friendly servers and good drinks. It is more of an adult restaurant than for kids because of the alcoholic beverages. We had the Passionfruit Sangrias. They were so good and hit the spot on such a hot day. Refreshing! We also tried the Mofango with Churrasco, which was delicious! We had some kind of brown vegan appetizer (forgot the name of it), but it wasn't very good. I took a photo of it anyway. The Creme Brulee with Nutella was very good. About a week ago, my best friend introduced me to this spot for dinner. She swears that it's the finest mofongo in Aguadilla as one of several restaurants owned by one chef. Service was tip top...patient server who introduced my husband to a delicious cocktail with a rum chaser. The plantain appetizer was enjoyed by all including my children who have always loved sweet plantains but now they like even green plantains. This was our first stop when we came to Puerto Rico, so happy that the reviews were right. My husband and I were greeted and sat quickly. The service was good because we're new to Puerto Rican cuisine so we were given good recommendations. We came on a weekday on our way to the Crash Boat Beach. They had some nice outdoor seating. I shared with another person what seemed to be their highlighted mofongo, the La Isla Desecheo. My friend frequents Desecheo and loves it, so it made sense for us to pay this spot a visit when staying nearby. It was our last meal in PR, so naturally we wanted good Puerto Rican food. And Desecheo delivered on that for sure. We were feeling seafood so we each ordered a fish for our mains. Maybe I'm biased, but mine looked the best. I went with the Dorado del Mar - mahi mahi in a creole sauce, topped with octopus, shrimp, and crispy squid. I can't have dairy so I asked the server if he could swap out the creole cream-based sauce for something else, and he said it wouldn't be a problem. There were a ton of other sauce options and they were happy to accommodate. This isn't something I'm used to, as NYC servers would typically roll their eyes at this kind of request, but not at Desecheo! I also picked amarillos as my side dish, but they had a ton of other options including rice and beans, salad, and tostones. The mahi mahi was cooked well and the squid was perfectly crisp. My one little callout here is that the octopus was super chewy. My amarillos were divine. Definitely a solid meal. My friends enjoyed their plates too. Food: they market "the best mofongo in town (Aguadilla)". Since this is our first time tasting mofongo, we could not testify to that statement, but the food was indeed nice. The house mofongo came with generous amount of sweet and spicy creole sauce, veggie, shrimp, fish and sliced skirt steak in the middle. The combination made this plate diverse, richly flavorful and satisfactory for both surf and turf lovers. The mofongo itself tasted nice, not overly "hard" but not too mushy as well. The Puerto Rico style cod fish tasted fresh and we ate all the garnish veggies with the mofongo's creole sauce. The only issue was that the cod fish probably needed a bit more seasoning and juice.
