ENGLISH: Gladys was our server and she treated us extremely well, she was friendly and patient and offered us alternative options for sauces and modifications. The food was simply delicious, all of the entrees we tried were excellent made with high quality ingredients. Portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. MOFONGO RELLENO de pulpo, MOFONGO RELLENO de camarones and asopao de marisco

Hands down the best tasting MOFONGO in the island!!!! We had a MOFONGO RELLENO de pulpo which was superb, the octopus was tender! We picked the red sauce for it. We also had a MOFONGO RELLENO de camarones which was my favorite meal with the garlic sauce poured over it. The shrimps were decently sized and had its own flavor. The asopao de marisco was more like a soup. I wasn't sure how it was going to look, I thought it was going to be rice and seafood and the rice being wet with the broth but it was more of a soup. Still, all the flavors were on point!!!! All the dishes were seasoned perfectly. I will definitely say this is one of my favorite flavors of PR.

This cozy restaurant in Isabela is my new favorite! My mother said she really enjoys this place, so I had to check it out on my recent visit to the island. El Platanal did not disappoint! It's a nice family owned and operated restaurant. I love how the staff dressed in traditional Puerto Rican attire and were all so nice and welcoming. I thought it was so cool how outside of the restrooms they have antique/retro/old-school items like original crackerjack boxes, Pepsi bottles/cans, irons, radios, fans, etc. The aesthetics on the walls of the restaurant give it a traditional Puerto Rican vibe which I really liked. Ok, onto the food! I ordered 'Carne frita con amarillos' (Fried pork chunks w/ sweet plantains) and my wonderful mother ordered this super interesting dish of 'Pechuga de pollo relleno de amarillos con mamposteao.' I'll do my best to translate this one...it's chicken breast filled with a sweet plantain mash that's wrapped in bacon and drizzled with a Guyaba sauce. The rice is basically a mixture of rice and beans with tiny pieces of ham and onions and peppers and cilantro. Both meals came with a lettuce and tomato salad and I'm not kidding when I say everything was absolutely outstanding! All of the food was fresh, flavorful and tasted amazing. I washed this goodness down with jugo de parcha (passion-fruit juice) that was equally delicious. I've ordered this beverage in tons of Latin restaurants in the US and PR but this was the first time it tasted real, like straight from the fruit and even had the dark seeds in it! I was truly amazed with this gem of a restaurant and will be visiting next time I return to mi isla bonita!

Again... on point!!! I love when popular restaurants make the food like someone's grandma would make it. Quality food!!!

Seafood mix mofongo (mofongo de mariscos)

This restaurant has delicious food and by far the best mofongo I have tried! I ordered the seafood mix mofongo in "al ajillo" sauce and its AMAZING! The flavor, the seafood, the portions are great! We also order "surtido", "canasta de churrasco" and to drink the Piña colada. It was so good that I returned again to the restaurant and will be back when I visit PR again. They also have a souvenir shop inside the restaurant (small but cute). If you are looking for delicious mofongo or food in general at reasonable prices you got to try this place. You wont be disappointed.

Not a place I'd recommend or go back to! Food was very bland. The idea around the restaurant is cute but that's as far as it goes.

Old fashioned decor and atmosphere, with typical Puerto Rican food served. Food is well seasoned, and we enjoy it every time we go.

I was truly overwhelmed. I could have spent hours in there just looking at the selection. They also have a nice array of whiskeys and the bourbon prices are very fair. The food at this locale is FANTASTIC. We tried a cheese plate which was a perfect starter while we perused the rest of the menu. I went with the tuna tartar and tostones as an entree and I was afraid it wasn't going to be enough food but it was the perfect portion. The tartar was delectable. I will be thinking about it for a long time. Everything was top notch at this place but I think our server, Rene, was the icing on the cake. His positive and welcoming energy set the tone for an incredible evening. He was so knowledgeable about the wines and the menu and he did truly felt like a friend. His recommendations did not stop at wine and food - he also gave us advice on places to visit while we are in the area. He's truly a gem! This is my first time in Aguadilla but I could see myself coming back for the sole purpose of visiting Set the Bar again. It's truly that good. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

Check the open/closed sign outside. It's run by literally two people - the waitress and the bartender. They have a rather short menu and a drink special of the day. The bartender is open to making anything you want though, given that they have the ingredients. The service was good and they made an effort to let us split the check based on our orders. I ordered the Baja Fish Tacos for $7, since I had a good experience in San Juan ordering this dish. It was sizable and had three soft shell tacos, However, it was covered in red cabbage with not a lot of fish at all. Sure it was cheap, but it wasn't even worth $7. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of zero is because some of my dining companions really enjoyed the Shrimp Ceviche, so I would like to go back and try that. This is one of the cheaper places to go for dinner in RIncon, but honestly, I'd rather just get a sandwich or go to Surfer's Spot.

The name was a little misleading - did not seem like a typical wine bar to me but a fun, islandy martini bar. Had a great indoor open air set-up with a neat jacuzzi pool/lounge area and a good band one night. quiet, great art, fun atmosphere and really good pizza. Tough parking lot - if you find a spot on the street before or after this place take it!
