This is a nice place to come on the weekend with the family or group of friends for some good food and an ocean view. We went during the day with some friends (all with kids), but it seemed like it would make for nice date night. We shared the Marine Sampler and Coconut Shrimp for appetizers. It was all good, but I'd say my favorite was the coconut shrimp. For the main course I went with the octopus stuffed mofongo. It was overflowing with meat and sauce. I could have done with less sauce, even though it was good. The octopus was good. Well prepared and fresh. The others at the table mostly went with the red snapper, which they bring to the table beforehand so you can pick the one you want. Their beer options weren't interesting so I went with a vodka and passion fruit juice. Overall, we had a nice experience. I'd return.

A restaurant at the coastal line that you can enjoy the sunset. It is a place for romantic dinner. Price is not cheap if you go for local lobster. We has seat close to lava rock beach section. We enjoy the last minute sunset view while having our dinner. The menu is in the board and they are changing every day. We have the Langosta Fresca Entera PR. Fresh whole local lobster. We also added the scampi shrimp in the dish. The lobster was grilled with butter. I like the chewy local lobster meat. The shrimp is not bad either. This dish is by weight. We also got the virgin pina colada and banana strawberry colada. Very refreshing. Service is really good here due to high class restaurants. Parking is available in the front.

The chillo frito was amazing. It was fresh, like caught that day fresh. You then get to choose which one you want. It was fried to perfection. I got it with rice and beans on the side, which were very good. The coconut shrimp and the calamari were also very good. The best thing though is the view of the ocean.

Excellent service! The staff is super kind and I loved that the wait was less than we were originally told. It's a great way to manage expectations. The marine sampler was great. I love calamari but this exceeded expectations. Soft and wonderfully flavored. Not chewy or rubbery at all. Highly recommend the mojitos with champagne as it's way better than a regular mojito because it's not as sweet. A little disappointed that the did not have the snapper but the salmon was well cooked. The ribeye was huge and cooked exactly like we wanted it; rare. Everyone enjoyed our meals and I can't say enough good things about the friendly staff. A must go to place to eat.

We had an amazing experience at Salitre. This is probably one of the best spots to have dinner right before sunset. Fish was super fresh and fried to perfection, all the sides were delicious, service was outstanding. I will come back soon. Only 1 hour from San Juan (def worth the drive).

Found this place on a trip to the beach. The mahi mahi was so good! Cooked al ajillo with a mofongo on the side. The mofongo was moist and paired really well with the mahi. Large sized portion of food. Our server was so sweet! She was timely and attentive. The beach view was to die for. Even on a hot day, you can't beat lunch with a view.

Unbeatably ocean view. Listening to the tides and drinking mojito? And the seafood is perfect. Also had the Marine sampler. The entrees themselves are great already but the sides? I don't like beans, but this chickpeas are just so well made

Lobster and languistine paella, at the center, grilled lobster at the right. Side dishes of sweet potato fries and caesar salad included.

The restaurant was part of a villa-restaurant operated by the same husband-and-wife owner team. Decor: seaside restaurant with plenty of outdoor seating. Located right at the beachhead. Service: attentive, friendly and considerate. Recommended that we order one-portion paella instead of two so that we could enjoy our additional lobster. A lot of people, so took quite a while to deliver our entrees (about 10-15 minutes). Food: Excellent food. Starter-fried mahi-mahi fillet. Hot, creamy, fresh. Entree-we had a lobster and languistine paella and a grilled whole lobster of 1.44 pounds. The paella tasted nice, the rice not too mushy and not overly crunch, with perfect seasoning. Creamy lobster tails and languistine included. The grilled lobster is a must-have. A whole Atlantic lobster cut in half and grilled with simplest seasoning of butter, parsley and flavor. Tasted fresh out of the sea with a nice bite. Side dishes of sweet potato fries and Caesar salad were both good. Drinks-delicious cocktails. Overall: Five stars, recommended for everyone hands down. Also, the guest house is a nice villa with spacious rooms, a swimming pool, a nice sea view, and two extremely adorable and friendly cats! Definitely recommended for anyone looking for a stay near Arecibo.

Amazing place to eat, relax and enjoy the view. Appetizers were excellent, fresh fish cooked to perfection and yuca mofongo was excellent. We finish our lunch with a fresh café con leche de Puta madre, that's the name of the coffee brand

No recomiendo este lugar. La comida está muy condimentada. Me enfermé del estómago. Además la mesera era ruda y sin modales con mala actitud. Había muchas moscas en el área de nuestra mesa. No vale la pena ir. I don't recommend this place. The food is too seasoned and salty. I got sick after I ate that crap. The waitress had a really bad attitude. There were also many flies around our table. Don't go there.

    Mofongo with shrimp

I must say that this was our second visit. It all comes down to the food and the view(location), you are going to pay for it so, it is what it is. The thing that makes Salitre different is the Mofongo with yuca, I have to say that this time it was not as good as the first time. It was so good the first time that we talked about it for months. I'm not saying it was bad, it was delicious but it was not a "Wow, delicious bring me another one, and one to go as well". We walked in just before rush hour, I guess, without a reservation and they had a table of 4 with an amazing view. The staff was great, everything was clean. The indoor sitting was very nice, the weather was awesome so the outdoor sitting was the way to go(all they had for us anyway lol). We had the empanada stuffed with mahi mahi, it was a good appetizer... 3 small empanadas but very delicious. FYI, Another table ordered a seafood sample platter and they were all saying that it was good. The Mofongo with shrimp was great. The catch of the day was very good. The kids ordered ribeyes, outstanding....the kids were in heaven. The frapes were delicious: Mango was the best. Also the strawberry with passion fruit very good. The passion fruit juice was for sure natural. Our total was $174.00 (no tip) on the expensive side. 2 steaks, 1 fried fish, 1 mofongo con camarones. 6 frapes, 1 juice, 1 bottle of water. I recommend this place for romantic dates, families, families with little kids, business meals, handicapped people can enjoy the restaurant and food as well. After you eat, you can walk along the shore, it is beautiful and y'all should visit the light house and "la posita del obispo", it is a less than 10min drive and has amazing cliff views and the waves and rocks provide a beautiful scenery. FYI, the owner has a rental property next door (it seems nice) They also have their own boats to catch their fish.

Delicious food & right on the water Our server was super helpful with recommendations. Hearing the sounds of the waves crashing on shore while eating is always amazing.

Great spot next to the beach with a lot of potential. Unfortunately, while our waiter was lovely,…read moreeverything else was a trainwreck. The place was not full or busy at all and there were lots of wait staff around taking orders. We ordered a few appetizers and eventually our main course. We waited... and waited... and waited. One and a half hours later, after our waitress checked on the order several times, our order came along with the appetizers. She knew we were very disappointed and was very apologetic, but acknowledged that she had no idea what the kitchen was doing. The food: soggy queso frito, good sorullos and ham croquetas. The breaded shrimp was good. They got my lobster mofongo order wrong and gave me the wrong sauce. At that point we'd been waiting for over 1.5 hours for everything so I didn't care. The food was at room temperature, which was even more enraging. To top things off, we spoke to the manager to tell him about our experience, to which he asked "And what do you want me to do about it?" Well, taking off one of the appetizers or offering us a dessert on the house would have been nice considering people left and right were leaving the restaurant disgruntled. Maybe even an apology and a promise to do things better if we ever decide to join them again. The verdict: the place has been open only 2 months and, while it's in a great location and the surroundings are beautiful, I don't expect them to stay open without amping up their service and kitchen practices. I don't think I'll ever go out of my way to eat there again, which is sad because I really wanted to support a post-Maria local business.
